It feels strange not to be in the garden and the potting shed this autumn. I do need to prune the roses and tidy it up a bit as weâre going to be letting out our house and preparing for a move to Basingstoke, Hampshire in the new year! It feels weird to be leaving behind the garden and all of the plants Iâve planted or grown from seed and also not knowing where weâll be living and whether there will be a garden to get excited about!
Would love to know if any of you lovely people know of any flower growers or just generally nice people in the Basingstoke area?

The dahlias are finally getting into their stride, who knows when the first frost will be here in the south east, but I will enjoy these beauties while they last.

I love the significance of the flowers placed on the Queenâs coffin, all seasonal and picked from her various estates.
But more than that I love and share the Queenâs faith and love the significance of the Archbishopâs words:
Her Late Majestyâs broadcast during Covid lockdown ended with: âWe will meet againâ, words of hope from a song of Vera Lynn. Christian hope means certain expectation of something not yet seen.
Christ rose from the dead and offers life to all, abundant life now and life with God in eternity.
As the Christmas carol says âwhere meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in.â
We will all face the merciful judgement of God: we can all share the Queenâs hope which in life and death inspired her servant leadership.
Service in life, hope in death. All who follow the Queenâs example, and inspiration of trust and faith in God, can with her say: âWe will meet again.â
Back in July I created these elegant jam jar arrangements to dot on tables at a thanksgiving service.
Particularly proud of these as every single stem came from my garden and managed to survive the particularly hot spell. Sweet peas grown from seed: mollie rilstone and white frills. â¨
This time last year I was sowing sweet peas ready for overwintering⌠this year Iâm focussed on keeping a newborn alive. The garden will have to wait!

A jam jar arrangement for a thanksgiving service a few weeks back, including eryngium (blue thistle) for a lady who loved them.
Beautiful Icelandic poppies, aquilegia, larkspur, eryngium and calendula all grown in the UK for a June bride.
Iâve been pretty slack on the watering this year and the garden is looking rather dry. Trying to give everything a good soak late evening or early morning which is better than regular short bursts! đŚ

It was so lovely seeing the photos from S & Iâs wedding land in my inbox. More photos to come but I love this shot captured by of S & I meeting at the end of the aisle. These two are some of the loveliest and kindest youâll meet. We met I when we were working at St Nicholas Church in Sevenoaks, she was in our youth group. Such a privilege to flower for her five years later and to share in her joy.â¨
Sweet pea ruffles. I only sowed two varieties this year, âjillyâ and âmollie rilstoneâ, but here we have a few others that snuck their way in and Iâm glad they didâŚstill donât know where they came from! Some bright pinks and purpley blues.
