Have you ever brought wine as a and ended up sharing with everyone and you enjoyed 3.5 oz 😩. Don’t get me wrong, I love to share wine and often bring lots to the table but sometimes I get a little squirrely about it. Enter, “laundry room wine”. This bottle doesn’t go on the table with your second cousins and Uncle Al, this is the you stash in the laundry room and mention to a handful of people, the bottle you open and casually tuck on the bar and go back to again and again.

WINE TASTING STEPS

LOOK
• looking at the wine
Becoming present with the wine in your glass, assessing colour/clarity/intensity, starting to make guesses about the and style, is why you look at your wine. Oh, and most importantly, it automatically makes you look like a wine expert (I know this from experience 🙃)

SMELL
•smell the
Be prepared to spend 2-4 minutes minimum on the nose. The nose is where you get to know the wine/grape variety/blend and the possible flavours the palate will produce. Did you know 90% of what you taste comes from your sense of smell? Often times aromas are tightly knit and require time to name and define. TAKE , YOUR , TIME. Certain aromas will help you make guesses about winemaking decisions, quality, aging and so much more.

TASTE
• taste the wine
Take a nice big sip of your wine, and chew, move the wine around your whole mouth. Aim for a seven-ten second taste before you finish your sip. Think about the flavours, texture, tannin, weight of the wine, acidity. Isolate a few aspects of the wine, write down your thoughts, then go back for more information 🕵️‍♀️

Et voila! This is what wine tasting is all about, using your and attaching vocabulary to describe your experience.

I’ve always been the type of person that craves being around people, connecting, chatting on the phone, joking around. Might have something to do with being a triplet 🤪

Last night’s .wpg zoom wine tasting felt like a party with 70+ of my closest friends! The night was filled with many birthdays to celebrate -sang hbd 3x 🥳, new mamas enjoying a fun night, and sharing a glass (or two or three) with lifelong friends.

Social events + celebrations have been few and far between for what feels like a lifetime, but we adapt. Feeling grateful for connection + lots of wine! Thanks for joining me, distant yet social 😘

1 Oz Gin
1 Oz Lillet Blanc
1 Oz Cointreau
1 Oz fresh lemon juice
• combine + shake shake shake
• strain into a chilled, absinthe rinsed coup
* we subbed triple sec for Cointreau + a pernod rinse instead of absinthe

Massive, complex Charc and cheese boards are definite show stoppers, but simple can go a long way. Try creating a perfectly small 2 minute cheese board to add to your intimate gathering ✨

We went with an aged cheddar and the valdeon blue, salt roasted almonds, fig jam, a perfectly sweet and sour red plum, and Gf crackers.

Pro TXOKO tip, throw in something homemade ✨ try homemade jam, your own candied/spiced nuts, or in our case leftover cheddar biscuits that Josh made for brunch.
