A Poe-etic Fête
Photo: Walking Tour
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY
As ardent admirers of the works of Edgar Allan Poe we continue to share a collection of bespoke event photos which pay homage to Poe’s poetry, short stories, and tales of mystery and macabre.
The distinctive event depicted in these photos encompasses various facets, each enveloped in intrigue and enchantment. The evening began at twilight on the grounds of the legendary Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in the hamlet of Sleepy Hollow, NY. Here, guests meandered through a myriad of narrow roads and passages during a 2-hour guided walking tour of the picturesque cemetery. Historical references and captivating tales were woven into the geography of the walk highlighting majestic mausoleums, notable monuments, exquisite architecture, and artisanal statuary and tombstones. At sunset the tour transformed into a moonlight tour illuminated by authentic gas lanterns carried by each guest. The tour culminated with a visit to a historic chapel where a portrayal of Edgar Allan Poe was performed by actor, Campbell Harmon, who recited readings and offered a historical biography of the poet.
Following this, a private dinner was held at Crabtree’s Kittle House staged with the optimal accoutrements to echo the mysterious macabre vibe.
