Oshawa Halloween Parade

Happy cold Saturday mortals! It is I, your ghost host, bringing you information from beyond the grave!

Despite the 2023 Halloween Parade being over a year away, interest is already bubbling to the surface!

I've personally communicated with four different groups who have expressed excited interest in participating next year! With a goal of 30 highly creative parade entries as the goal... there's no time to waste in searching out parade entrants to really make this parade a must-do Oshawa event!

In addition, the VERY short parade route from the inaugural 2012 parade will be replaced with a much longer parade route! This is great news for parade entrants who put so much time and effort into their ideas.

Other ideas we are toying with:

Community Zombie Walks
Starting just outside the downtown core, allowing walkers to meander their way down to the parade route in a fun way! For example, one zombie walk starting point could be at Alexandra Park. Zombies could walk from Alexandra down to the parade and back. This is one way we are trying to reach out to the community to get involved and more importantly have fun!

After parade Halloween party
When the parade is over, get up close with the parade entries and see them in detail in a little meet and greet bash. Dance to the spooky beats of a DJ and show off your own costume!

So I know, it's over a year away, but I'm so excited for the re-animation of the Oshawa Halloween Parade (and the fact that it is October!), that I couldn't help but make a post.

There's a few important things you should know.

1. We are looking for volunteers. LOTS of volunteers. If you are interested in helping out on some level, DM me here for now. When the website is ready, you'll be able to do it there as well.

2. If you want to be in the parade, DM me. I'll put you on the list to be reached out to, when the time is right. We're looking for people who really want to be creative and take their parade entry to the next level!

3. The website is being built! I'll make an announcement on Facebook and our soon to be launched Instagram page.

4. Share share share! Tell everyone about this amazing event that you definitely will NOT want to miss!!

Ah, the memories from 2012! It was a bitter sweet day. We created Oshawa's first Halloween parade. It also was the same day the tail of a hurricane blew through the area.
