🤍Two years ago today! Where has the time gone?!

🎶Seems a good moment to let you know that we are looking at the possibility of organising another international Children of the World in Mann event to support peace around the world in 2025, so watch this space..

In the meantime, HAPPY WORLD PEACE DAY 🕊️

🙏THANK YOU!

We were delighted this week to meet with Karolina Davison from Friends of Ukraine in the Isle of Man to share with her the monies raised from our event on World Peace Day 🕊

Although our event is primarily about "uniting our children in song for Peace", it made sense to us this year to add a fundraising element, with the ongoing turmoil in Ukraine and the many displaced families - some of whom have moved to our Island 🇮🇲🇺🇦

With grateful thanks to you all, we raised £750 on our JustGiving Page for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and a further £200 in cash which goes directly to help support Ukrainian families living here. We couldn't have done this without your support! 💙💛

Thanks also to Wendy and the One World Centre Isle of Man for the loan of the collection buckets used on the day

We just wanted to take a minute to thank our fantastic team of volunteers, led by the wonderful Millie Wright (3rd from left). They all gave their time and talents to make sure everything went off without a hitch - quite the feat when wrangling 300 children!

A special thank you to Luca (centre), who celebrated his birthday by helping us out too 🥳🥰 What a little superstar.

And a big thanks to the Community Officers, Darren and Greg, who took the time to come join us and were such a lovely presence on the day too.

We quite simply could not have done this without you all! ❤️

😍What a LOVELY piece from BBC Isle of Man, covering our event!

🙏Thank you so much to Ashley, Ewan and Catherine for their time and efforts in publishing this fabulous memento.

Please do tag anyone you recognise 🥰

It was so lovely recently to meet Mayada, a wonderful Doctor at Nobles and the Mum of one of the children from Braddan School who features in this video. Norseen, who was 9 at the time, speaks so eloquently about what the event meant to her: "It just felt like everyone was friends, like the war stopped". Well done Norseen and all the other children! We're still so proud of you all, one year on 🫶🕊

🕊 Thank you to Lewis Foster from Manx Radio for sharing this lovely clip with us from yesterday's event, showing the children singing 'Imagine'. It might not have been brilliant summer sunshine, but it was certainly a heartwarming moment! 🥰

*POST COPIED FROM OUR 2022 EVENT PAGE*

So, "what's happening?" we hear you ask!

🚌The children will be arriving from their various schools by bus at 12.25pm.

🥁Once everyone is gathered on the field, the wonderful Hello Little People and Sambamann will start leading the children in procession towards Tynwald Hill itself, ready to begin singing at 1pm.

👩‍🎤🧑‍🎤There are a couple of songs that all the children will sing together - some choruses, some songs in full - which celebrate peace, love and unity, famous songs such as 'All You Need is Love', 'Give Peace A Chance' and 'Imagine' (thank you Beatles!) so please do feel free to join in the singing. There will be programmes on the day which can be purchased for a small donation, with the lyrics inside.

🇺🇦🇮🇲We are also humbled to be able to hear a song for peace sung by a group of Ukrainian children and will also have a beautiful song in Manx by the children of Bunscoill Ghaelgagh.

🚌 The children will then be led back to their buses ready to leave at 2pm (so our wonderful drivers from Bus Vannin can get back in time for the school run!)

🌧 We do have a wet weather contingency, but will make a call on that on the morning of the event as our Manx skies can be fickle! and we want to give the event every possible chance to take place on the Hill

❗️If you are hoping to join us, we would love to see (and hear!) you, but please be aware that there are no specific parking provisions for this first year. We hope to be able to open the event out to the public in a bigger way next year 🥳

🕊Our One Day, One Choir event takes place on International Day of Peace.

🫶 Are you or your organisation / workplace doing anything to mark the day? Or perhaps you have been learning about what World Peace Day means in school? We'd love to hear your stories!

About The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both with...

❤️ Our thoughts are with the family of Queen Elizabeth II today, as this remarkable woman is laid to rest after more than 7 decades of service. Imagine the incredible number of children she met with over that time, all over the world - many of whom now have children and grandchildren of their own and who will no doubt recount with great pride 'the time they met The Queen!'

We LOVE this clip of Her Majesty speaking with children from many different countries, who ask her tricky questions like "Do you like being the Queen?" , "Is the crown very heavy?" and "What will you buy Prince William for Christmas?" 😆

Her kindness and interest in each child is very clear.

🙏 In the words of Paddington, our favourite bear, thank you Ma'am, for everything.

🤩 We are thrilled - and more than a Little excited! - that Hello Little People and Sambamann have agreed to lead our school children in song and procession on Wednesday 🥳

Michelle and Chloe are so full of joy and childlike energy that they immediately came to mind when we first started discussing this event and we were delighted when they said 'YES!' to us 🥰

🥁Along with the brilliant rhythms of the SambaMann collective, these two teams will create the perfect energy to lead us on the day.

👀Please give their pages a follow - they have wonderful, family friendly events on a regular basis and are well worth supporting.

🙏THANK YOU to all of you brilliant, bright, bubbly folk for answering our call! We can't wait to see you on Wednesday ❤

Where it all began...

We wanted to share this Presentation Pack with you, that was circulated to friends, family, companies, groups, MHKs, charities and of course our schools.

It hopefully gives a flavour of what we are trying to achieve with this peace-led project 🕊

We’re so grateful for the wonderful support and feedback we’ve received along the way 🙏
