❓Why do people book a food and wine tour in Venice with me ?

Because...

1- Venice is not just St Mark's square and gondolas (but if you can try the night visit to the Basilica, oh! 🤩 it's a great experience)

2- Venice might be confusing. There are no cars, scooters and buses, we walk to go everywhere and I can help you to understand how to navigate the city (but sometimes I get lost too 😉)

3- I'm a professional sommelier and I think wine is an important part of our culture (Venice = no cars = more wine 💯🍷)

So... If you're willing to taste some local grapes and enjoy a friendly and fun tour, I can help you out!!

Three wines that amaze me during Christmas holidays:

➡️ Bottle n.1: Corvina brut, a white wine from the famous red grape from Valpolicella area called "Corvina". Fresh, elegant with a ye**ty aftertaste, with a good sapid taste.
How can a red grape make a white wine?? Well, book a wine tasting with me and I'll tell you everything 😉

➡️ Bottle n.2: yes, a winemaker named "Cecilia" is a win won 😁
Moderately aromatic, Ansonica is a white grape from Center and South of Italy. Its citrusy note goes with risotto and sushi.

➡️ Bottle n.3: Raboso is a grape closely related to North Italy. I found this bottle in the last shelf of my wine cellar at my parent's house (yes, I have a wine place at their house too....!!) and I thought it was gone... It's a 18 yo bottle!
Well, it took a while in the glass to open but this is perfect! The aggressive tannins are now soft and pleasant, very concentrated bouquet, aged cheese will be a fantastic pairing.

This is my career and I'll keep doing it for the next 2024, no doubt at all!!

Close to my hometown, the Euganean Hills are a great example of biodiversity.
Among olive trees and woods of chestnut🌳, near the hot springs of Abano Terme, Quota 101 is a small winery located at 101 Mt on the sea level.

➡️ What I love 💖 - I love indeed! - is when winemakers adapt their production following Nature. And here Mother Nature gives volcanic soil and Mediterranean climate. Here they know how to extract the most representative aromas of local and international grapes.

🙂 Around fifteen wine labels, my favorite are:
- the unfiltered Garganega "La Gobbetta"
- "Malterreno" a surprising blend perfect for summer aperitivo
- "Poggio Ameno" (50% cabernet franc and 50% cabernet sauvignon) that combines freshness and intensity without any oak passage.
- the Fior d'Arancio passito to be paired with blue cheese and wine friends!

🎅 Welcome December!

Two different grapes = two different soils = two different styles.

⏺ Gewurztraminer from Alsace (France) is a powerful explosion of aromas like litchi and mango, apricot and honey with a great citrus final. Pairing: baked shrimps with lemon zest.

⏺ Friulano from Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Italy) comes from a limestone and marl terroir that add a mineral depth to white grapes and a subtle floral bouquet.
Pairing: squash risotto with sausage.

What do they have in common?
On the label, the name of the grape gives the name to wine.
But, most important:
🥰 Cecilia loves them, both - because differences can enrich our lives and taste! 💐

Let me breathe like a glass of red wine!

🍷today my glass is a 100% Teroldego, a red grape from Trentino Alto Adige region.

Despite its dark color, this wine is very approachable, with fresh fruity notes (raspberry and cranberry), easy also to pair with many different dishes: here I was baking chicken wings and potatoes (something not too complicated but 😋 delizioso!).
Price range: 12 - 16 € per bottle.

If you make a great wine, it's necessary to know in depth the terroir ❇️ and to respect it.

🍾 Merotto is a family owned winery: Mr Graziano started the production around 50 years ago, he is a Prosecco Artist!

This bottle it's a 100% glera grape from 40 yo vineyards... 😯

➡️ General freshness, light but persistent sapid taste, green apple 🍏and bone dry are the main peculiarities.

Pasta with crab 🦀 and zucchini, turkey 🦃 stew with sweet leek (Jamie Oliver recipe) are just few examples for an excellent pairing 💯.

36° Celsius degree are terrible!
So we have to stay hydrated 24 hrs, right?

A great choice can be a rosé wine from south of Italy -from Puglia region- made with 100% Bombino Nero grape.

❓what to expect?
➡️ freshness and a bit of salinity that makes this wine perfect with seafood, grilled seafood🦞🦀🦐🦑!
Very delicate!

1⃣ I went to the fish market and my favorite fishmonger gave me these beautiful scampi that smelled like the sea.
2⃣ Then I found the baby artichokes from Sant'Erasmo island, a delicacy of the season.
3⃣ I've decided to visit again one of my favorite wineries: Petrussa in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia, right on the border with Slovenia.
The sweetest scampi and the sapid side of Said blanc are 💯 DELIZIOSOOO!!

🐣🐰 Easter dinner:

🤤 Wildboar Pasticcio (that means "lasagna") to be paired with one of the most incredible Merlot I've ever tasted.
I'm a Merlot fan because of its versatility: the "Sansonina" (limited production, this bottle is num. 391 🙂) comes from an area devoted to whites near lake Garda.

➡️ Details? Smooth and slow, soft as a caress, my palate feels a wrapping happiness with aromas of plums, black cherry and cocoa. Deep and round with a spiced final.
➡️ Personally? I'll finish the bottle with no issues 💯

➡️ Molise: a small region in the south of Italy with no DOCG wines and focused on red wines.

🍷 Ramitello is a blend of Montepulciano and Aglianico.
After swirling, it suddenly charms my nose with plums and blackberries, and a soft licorice sense.
The taste? Velvety tannins, it's not super bold but what shocked me is the loooong aftertaste.
🌺🌷🌸 Perfetto for this spring time, to pair just with aged Asiago cheese, honey and... Good friends!

🍷 With a bottle of Campofiorin, where a small amount of semi-dried grapes gives roundness and concentration without losing a pleasant fresh aftertaste.
