You hired a DJ, let them do their job!

DJs are SO good at reading the room. They are constantly paying attention to which songs get YOUR guests on the dance floor. LET THEM DO THIS!

When you provide your DJ with a loooooong “must play” list or even go so far as to create a dance floor playlist, your DJ won’t have the flexibility to play other songs if your choices aren’t really doing it.

If your goal is to have a 🔥 dance floor, go ahead and create a “must play” list, but keep it to those songs you ABSOLUTELY can’t miss on the dance floor. Let your DJ know they have your permission to play whatever will keep your dance floor packed!

I don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t have Ali helping us throughout the wedding planning process. We booked her for 30 day coordination which took SO much stress off of us in the month leading up to the wedding, but even beyond those 30 days, she answered every question we had, gave recommendations and just overall helped us not feel so frazzled. On the day of our wedding, my husband and I both had the most relaxing and fun morning with our people because we knew everything would be handled for us. Our day was absolutely perfect because of the work Ali and her team did and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Our handmade es**rt wall got a full makeover!!

I loved the look of the natural stain when I built this for Kayla & Brian’s big day! The wood elements & black sconces fit well with their venue and came together perfectly for their bookish seating chart!

HOWEVER, I know that natural wood doesn’t appeal to everyone! When Hannah approached me about renting the wall for her May 18th wedding, I mentioned that I was planning on painting it white. She loved the idea and asked about swapping out the sconces for gold.

A fresh coat of paint + new sconces DID HER GOOD and I’m so thrilled with how she looks now!

Choose from either black or gold sconces, plus options to customize the top with your desired saying!

Oh hey, 3k!

Follower count is such a vanity metric, but knowing there are 3,000 of you out there following along on this small business journey feels like a big deal!

In honor of 3k, here’s 3 fun facts about me:

✨I thought I was going to be a lawyer for a long time. I even took the LSAT, gathered my letters of recommendation and had my applications ready. So glad I never hit send!

✨I recent found out that I have a neurospicy brain. My ADHD diagnosis has been really eye opening and I’m learning to work WITH my brain, not against it.

✨I cry at almost every wedding I coordinate. The fact that it’s your wedding day will NEVER be lost on me 😍

WE’RE MAKING THESE PRO TIPS A SERIES ⬇️

It happens at EVERY wedding.

You’ve just been served your food and you’re trying to shove your face before you have to get up and mingle, but guests keep coming up to talk to you! You can hardly get a few bites in before another guest comes up tell you all about their travels to get to your wedding (seriously, WHYYYY do guests do this??).

You don’t want to be rude to your guests (and also you probably have a mouth full of food), but you need some time to eat!!

Direct your wedding party and/or family to keep an eye on you while you eat. If a guest is talking to you for more than a quick “congratulations,” your wedding part can step up can and let the guest know that you’ll be up to mingle at the tables in a few minutes, but that right now you need to eat!

This is something we discuss IN DETAIL at ceremony rehearsal with your wedding party. There’s always at least ONE wedding party member who is ON IT!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

It’s been a long time since I’ve done an intro post, so I figured why not post it today since I, a woman, run this business?

Before getting into it, it must be said: I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by so many strong women both within and outside of the wedding industry. This industry is especially stacked with so many badass women CEOs and I feel extremely grateful to be a part of this community.

In case we haven’t met, I’m Ali Boule! Owner & Lead Planner of AB Event Company.

I’m Mama to an amazing 3-year-old who I’m raising to be a stong, fiercely independent woman. I’m married to an amazing partner who provides me with such a strong support system through the crazy ups & downs of business ownership. My husband is a Firefighter Engineer, which means our schedule is different than your typical 9-5 family. I’m often the main caretaker for our daughter, so when she gets sick or we have no childcare, it’s me. It’s the reasons I choose to share my life & my daughter on social media, because I want my clients to know that I’m human. Life happens and we adjust!

A few more things about me:
✨I’m almost always listening to a a podcast or audiobook.
✨Podcast topic of choice is usually true crime, and I almost exclusively listen to/read fantasy (because escapism).
✨I’ve woven my values & beliefs into my business model because it feels disingenuous to not be my full self.
✨I’m straight up - I’ll tell you if something is a bad idea or a waste of money.
✨I love to make people laugh, so you’ll probably catch me cracking jokes during our meetings.
✨Salty over sweet. Mexican & Italian food are superior. Digital over analog. Dogs over cats.

I’m passionate about helping couples have the best damn day possible. It’s my goal for you to feel like you’ve got a wedding planning bestie at your side. I’m transparent and real, so you always know I’m giving it to you straight. I want you feel empowered to make the right decisions for your wedding day, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Every love story is unique and your wedding should be too.

CAN WE PLEASE STOP DOOMSDAY-ING COUPLES?

There is nothing more annoying than chatting with a client who is stressed about the *potential* of being stressed on their wedding day, all because they have people in their life telling them it’s INEVITABLE.

LET ME BE CLEAR: the clients are NOT the ones that are annoying. It’s the friends and family that INSIST on adding this stress to the client’s plate! Telling someone they will definitely be stressed is a SURE FIRE way to add stress to their plate, because they’re then stressing about the fact that they might be stressed on their wedding day (which no one wants to be!). It’s stress inception, ya feel me?

LET 👏 PEOPLE 👏 ENJOY 👏 THINGS 👏

It’s giving the same energy as older parents who say “just wait” to new parents.

Just because YOU had a stressful experience on your wedding day DOES NOT mean that everyone will, ESPECIALLY if they’re working with a professional coordinator. I’m not saying a planner or coordinator will always alleviate all of the stress, but our literal job is to handle the stressful situations on your wedding day so that YOU don’t have to!

Next time someone tells you “well you’re definitely going to be stressed on your wedding day” or “there’s going to be a lot of things that go wrong on your wedding day” just respond “that’s a weird thing to say to someone planning a wedding” and watch them squirm a bit in their wrongness.

✨ROOM REVEAL✨

It’s one of my favorite parts of the wedding day, but what is it?

A room reveal is when we bring our couples into the reception space to see how it all came together! You put so much time and effort into planning & designing your wedding day, you deserve a few minutes to just enjoy the space before your guests come in!

Due to the nature of the room reveal, it works best when your reception space is completely separate from the ceremony & cocktail hour. We ALWAYS include this in our timelines (when applicable) to ensure that you get to soak in the result of alllllllll your hard work & creativity!

PRO TIP: turn this into a private moment where you can enjoy some appetizers and drinks at your sweetheart table 10-15 minutes before guests enter the reception - I promise you WON’T regret it!

Don’t forget to discuss these 3 things with your bartender and/or caterer!

BUT FIRST - SAVE this post so you remember to come back to it later!

1️⃣ Who is providing ice?

Ice is SO often forgotten in the shuffle of wedding planning, but it’s a HUGE deal! Make sure you know who is on the hook for providing ice and if at all possible, leave it to your vendors! Seriously, you don’t want to be hauling 300-500 pounds of ice on your wedding day. The money saved is SO not worth the hassle!

2️⃣ Will there be a self-serve beverage station set up throughout the event?

When your guests arrive to your wedding, you want to give them the option to have at least water while they wait for the ceremony to begin, ESPECIALLY if it’s hot (I’m looking at you, summer couples 👀). I typically also recommend that there be a beverage station set up in the cocktail hour area so that your guests who aren’t drinking alcohol won’t clog up the bar line just to get a glass of water!

3️⃣ Who is providing the glassware and/or disposable cups for the bar and beverage stations? If you plan on using real glassware at the bar, you’ll need to consult with your bartenders for their recommendations on glassware quantities. Make sure you know who is placing this order; your bartender might even have some specialty glassware available for you to rent! If your caterer is handling the place setting rentals, you might be able to ask them to add on glassware for the bar! Similarly, you’ll want to confirm who is providing the disposable cups for the beverage stations so that you know to purchase them in the event that it is your responsibility.

NEW WEBSITE AND BRANDING ARE OFFICIALLY LIVE!!!

Same me, but ✨E L E V A T E D✨

When I launched in 2022, I did so with a DIY logo & colors that I loved at the time. While it was great to get AB Event Company off the ground, I’ve felt a disconnect between my branding and who I am / what I actually provide for quite some time.

HUGE shoutout to , who helped me craft a brand identity that is so much more aligned with the services I provide and where I want to go.

I initially planned on doing basic updates to my website, but after digging in I realized it needed a full overhaul to reflect my personality and dreams for this business. I’m so proud of how it came together and the vibes it’s embodying. It feels modern and editorial, but also true to who I am and what I do.

I specialize in crafting unique and unforgettable wedding experiences for modern couples, bringing transparency, humor and expertise to the wedding planning process.

Design ➡️ Final Product

With Kayla being super involved on and , I just KNEW we had to incorporate books into their wedding design! We decided on an es**rt wall, labeling each “book” with the guest names and table number. We carefully selected a few shades of mauve that fit the vibe to add depth and variety to the wall.

We ended up quite a bit bigger than 6’x5’ but I’m honestly OBSESSED with the final result and I don’t think I’ll ever get over watching the guests realize that their names were on the books!
