Atlas Ball is tonight!!

We’re so excited to see you all in your masks tonight. Here’s a few quick reminders to make sure your night goes off without a hitch!

🤒 stay home if you’re sick
🪪 Bring a valid government issued photo ID (such as a drivers license or passport. NOTE: UQ Student ID cards will not be accepted)
🩵 Respect staff and the venue
🍹 Drink responsibly
👠 Keep your shoes on at all times while you’re in the venue.
🫶 Look out for your mates
🍎 Eat throughout the night. We will have food coming around the venue at various points.
🦹 Don’t forget your mask. We will have a limited number of masks available at the venue for people who forget but these are subject to availability and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
🤩 Have fun!

UQ Union and the Atlas Ball Committee are committed to making Atlas Ball as accessible as possible.

Cloudland has wheelchair accessible entry at the main entrance with lifts available to the ball rooms. Accessible bathrooms are also available in the Rose Room on the night.

In addition to the Moon Room having music played at a lower volume and more seating, free earplugs will also be made available at the welfare stand. There is also a quieter area which our welfare officers will be happy to take any attendee to if they need a break through the night.

IMPORTANT BALL UPDATE

Doors to the 2023 Atlas Ball will close at 8pm tomorrow night. Anyone who is in the line to enter the venue will be allowed to come in, however anyone who joins the line after this time may not be allowed entry.

Please make sure you arrive on time so that everyone can enjoy the night, and so that you don’t miss the amazing performances put on by our clubs!

Today marks one week until the Atlas Ball for 2023!

We have been informed that scammers are targeting members of our community. Remember to make sure any tickets you purchase are legitimate. We still have a limited amount of tickets available via the official eventbrite link.

If you are looking to purchase a ticket from outside of the official link you do this at your own risk. Please make sure you reach out to our social media to confirm anyone you are purchasing from has purchased a ticket.

If you are no longer able to attend the ball we are not able to offer refunds. We will however transfer the ticket to someone else if you are able to find a buyer. Please comment on this post if you are looking to sell your ticket and a member of the Atlas Ball team will confirm your validity by commenting from our official accounts.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have decided to change the date and time of our Gatton Mask Decorating workshop.

The new details are:
Thursday 10 August 2023 6-8pm

It’s still downstairs at Morrison hall and is still free for ball attendees.

Applications are now open for Equity Tickets!!!

Equity tickets allow UQ Students to access Atlas Ball with reduced cost or free tickets. To apply simply fill out the form below and our Equity team will review your application.

All applications will be anonymised by a member of the UQ Union Staff before being sent to the Equity Committee. The Committee is made up of 6 student club executives who will review the application. Only the UQ Union staff member will have access to applicants personal details, and will be the only person in contact with applicants.

All information provided in the form will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be shared with anyone outside of the equity committee without your prior permission.

🌍 One left to get your tickets! 🌏

There’s just one week left to get your tickets to Atlas Ball 2023! Ticket sales close on the 4th of August, our team has been working hard behind the scenes to increase capacity to the ball and we’ve managed to secure more tickets!

To celebrate we’re offering a discount of more than 20% off ticket prices at our stall in the UQ Union Complex today until 2pm only, unless we sell out prior!

Make sure you come on by and get your discounted ticket.

Later on today we’ll be hosting our mask decorating workshop at St. Lucia campus (Gatton, we’ll be there next week). Tickets are just $5 at the door and you can pay by cash or card.

Equity ticket applications close at 12pm tomorrow (Saturday), this will be your last chance to apply for a free or heavily discounted ticket so make sure you take the opportunity to apply if you feel you need to.

🌍 ATLAS BALL TICKETS UPDATE 🌏

Round Three tickets are just a week away!

Tickets release on Tuesday 11th of July at 6pm!

Make sure you set your alarms so you don’t miss out!

This round our theme is the Pink Dolphin. This myth originates in the Amazon. Some stories describe the pink dolphin as being a shape shifter who, at night, morphs into a tall, handsome and elegantly dressed man, who comes ashore to seduce the women of the Amazonian villages. The myth has been used as a cover story for unwanted or scandalous pregnancies in isolated parts of the Amazon. Another story surrounding the pink dolphin warns children about swimming in the rover alone. Some say the dolphin will kidnap lone swimmers and take them to an underwater city from which they can never return.

🌍 ATLAS BALL TICKETS UPDATE 🌏

Get excited!

Round two tickets are nearly here!

Tickets release on Monday the 19th of June at 6pm!

So make sure you set your alarms, our previous rounds sold out in a matter of minutes, don't miss out on 2022's Ball of the Year!

The theme for this round is centred around the myth of the Kelpie. Based in Scottish folklore the Kelpie is a horse like creature that is able to adopt human form. The Kelpie is thought to inhabit bodies of water across Scotland and Ireland and is used as a way of encouraging children from staying away from dangerous rivers, lakes and streams. Perhaps the most famous Kelpie throughout mythology is the Loch Ness Monster.

WATCH OUT FOR TICKET SCAMS

The Atlas Ball Committee has been made aware of a number of fake Facebook and Instagram accounts offering to sell tickets for the ball.

Tickets for Atlas Ball are only able to purchased through the official eventbrite link https://atlas-ball.eventbrite.com.au/. Atlas Ball will not be able to provide entry to anyone who has not purchased a valid ticket, and will also not be able to provide refunds or compensation for anyone who falls victim to the scams.

The Atlas Ball Committee are doing what we can to limit the amount of spam comments on our posts, however we are not able to monitor our social media 24 hours a day.

Please note there are still opportunities to purchase tickets to the ball in further releases, there is no need to panic yet.

🌍ATLAS BALL TICKETS UPDATE🌏

Missed out on an early bird ticket?

Don’t worry Round One is nearly here!

Tickets will launch on Monday 22 May at 6pm so set your alarms!
The theme for this round of tickets is the myth of the Duendes!
Duendes are gnome-like creatures found throughout Latin America, known to be mischievous, pranksters, kidnapping misbehaved children, or even are an omen of death. It is said they like to catch a ride in the back of cars and utes driving through the Andes mountains to play pranks on drivers.

For misbehaving children, mothers constantly warned them about the duendes that would lure them into the forest and kidnap them forever. There is even one who arrives to houses in a horse drawn carriage, they say you can hear their whistling from towns away, and if they make it to your doorstep, a serious accident will occur to your family.
