, 20 August 1970, Bobby Moore, England’s World Cup winning captain back in 1966, was cleared of the accusation of stealing an emerald bracelet from a gift shop in Bogotá, Colombia.

Bobby Moore was arrested for this charge days before the 1970 World Cup in Mexico would begin. It is not clear, as yet, why the shop assistant claimed that she saw Moore stealing the bracelet.

Pelé, eventually, did not participate in the game due to recovery from a hip operation.
