Scientific name : Euphorbia Trigona a.k.a African Milk Tea or cathedral cactus
Euphorbia trigona is a an easy care succulent that originates from West Africa. It makes a fascinating architectural addition to room designs, with it's upright stems and ridges of short-lived leaves and thorns.

Also known as the African milk tree because of the milky sap contained in the stems it makes an urban style statement but is best avoided around children and pets.

Euphorbia trigona Care & Info Guide

Light:
Prefers bright light. Direct sunlight is ok but take care to ensure this does not scorch the plant.

Water:
Allow the soil to dry out before watering. Do not over water. Drought tolerant for short periods.

Temperature:
Prefers it reasonably warm, ideally from 15-27°C. Keep out of draughts.

Feed:
Apply a half strength dose of liquid fertiliser in the summer.

Height and Growth Rate:
Indoor height 1-2m but very slow growing.

Toxicity:
The sap is poisonous and an irritant. Avoid getting into your eyes or mouth and handle with care. Wash off immediately if in contact with skin. Not suitable for children or pets.

Scientific Name: Euphorbia lactea 'Cristata' a.k.a Coral cactus

The Coral Cactus, a.k.a Euphorbia lactea 'Cristata' made an appearance as our Luxury Indoor plant of the month for August of 2019. Apart from its striking appearance, this is an incredibly unique plant, for one main reason. Read on to find out all you need to know about what's super special about this plant and how to care for it.

Native habitat
Native to tropical Asia, mainly India, and Africa.

Light and position in the home
Full, direct sun to partial shade.

Flowers and foliage
This plant is actually two plants in one: both are Euphorbias, but the straight green base and the top 'coral' part actually originate from two totally different plants, which have been grafted together by hand, and live quite happily like that.

This grafting is an attempt by us humans to mimic a very rare mutation that does occur naturally in the wild, but which is hard to replicate in the greenhouse. Talk about amazing, right?!

Watering
Succulent fans beware, although this is a succulent, because of its unique grafted plant nature. its watering needs are quite unusual. You cannot leave it to completely dry out, but it also doesn't like very moist soil as the roots can rot very easily. Allow top 2-4 inches to dry.

Temperature
The ideal growing temperature is 16-29 degrees Celcius.
