A beautiful evening for Chelle and Chris to make their lifelong commitment, ✨official✨. They opted for heavy grazing and a chili bar for their guests! It was really sweet to hear from one of Chelle’s friends, “This is so Michelle. All of this food is exactly her. If you go to their house, this is what you’d get. Last night at was so much fun! It was A LOT of prep and ✨ TV Magic ✨ which meant a lot of time to sit and talk, shop, and take in the aroma of root vegetables, perfectly fitting for this cool weather we’ve been blessed with! We enjoyed making Hot Honey that was poured over the chicken breast after it came out of the oven, a vegetable medley over a whipped feta spread topped with fresh parsley, and of course, a salt, crusted, sweet potato! Dessert (not pictured) was a pumpkin pecan cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

Cheers to THREE years!!! If you would have asked me three years ago where I’d be…. It would have never been here. I couldn’t have imagined that what God had for me would have been this incredible. Thank you to everyone who has taken a chance on me, referred me, supported me, believed in me, even when I was struggling. Ida-Belle’s was a pipe dream turned reality less than three years ago and here we are!!

I didn’t even know of this competition until I received an email from Tallahassee Democrat saying I was a finalist in their competition and it would be announced September 1st.

Truly giving all of this glory to God for the endless opportunities past and future to nurture both bellies and friendships.

Food pics are THE hardest but last nights class was “Sunday in The South”. My girls 🐓 and garden 🍅 made the a super fun appetizer pairing as deviled eggs with homegrown fried green tomato’s, Belle’s sauce, bacon and green onion. Then we dove in to country fried cubed steak, homemade gravy from the drippings, homemade mashed potatoes, homegrown white acre peas with hog jowl, jalapeño cornbread, cucumber salad, and my family’s fourth generation pecan pie for dessert! These plate pictures were an afterthought as everyone was ready to dive in but you get the idea 😉. Spending time with my chosen family, old and new at truly brings it all back full circle and really reminds us of the slow down and fellowship. One of the highest compliments I’ve received was last night when my dear friend said “Lauren, you’re Sunday Supper.” What an honor to be thought of in a way that reminds us of that slow down, pouring in to our family around the table and breaking bread together.. 🤍 So from now on, I also answer to “Sunday Supper” 😉. Truly had a beautiful evening with like-minded people who appreciate the old ways. We talked about everything from classically trained chefs who’ve written books, to traveling to Supper on the Grounds growing up in a southern Primitive Baptist Church. Looking forward to next months class and seeing more of His plan. 🤍. Everyone have a SAFE and memorable Labor Day weekend 🤍
