Perth’s Got Talent 2021 was a massive success! Check out the highlights of the night 🤟

📣 We were thrilled to announce the top three Winners of Perth’s Got Talent 2021.

A huge congratulations to:

🥇The first place Adriana Cossio and Johan Flores. Superstars from with a flawless Colombian salsa performance

🥈 Securing the second place, Jagwinder Singh and his team Bhangra Rulez, also from , showcasing the rich folkloric dance form “Bhangra”. They also won the People’s Choice Award.

🥉The third place was landed by Ana Silva and Sarah Quinn who represented Navitas English Perth with the best folk dance from Brazil.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank each and every participant for their amazing presentations and for sharing their talents with us.

➡️ Last night we had such a fantastic time at the Perth’s Got Talent - International Student Edition.

15 acts watched by a full audience and also live streamed fought for the inaugural title of Perth’s Got Talent winner 2021.

It was the epitome of what international students bring to Perth. Talent, culture, diversity, passion, drive, community and laughter.

There was so much passion and feelings involved and we cannot thank enough each one of the contestants for the effort put into the presentations.

➡️ Meet our judge - Muriel Hillion- Toulcanon

Muriel has recently submitted her PhD in Maloya/Sega (Traditional dances from slavery/colonial times in the Indian Ocean islands).
She is also a former international student, hailing from Reunion Island.

Muriel is also the President of the Indian Ocean Creole Artistry (a not-for-profit organization that works towards providing a platform to support artists from the Indian Ocean Creole Community in WA).

Besides being one of the 4 judges of the PGT, she and her dancing group will also perform as closing entertainment.

➡️ Meet our judge - Lucia Chen

Lucia Chen grew up in Hangzhou, China and first came to Australia in 2012 as an international student at ECU majoring in marketing.

She started teaching dance classes back in 2017 and founded The Moves Dance studio, specialising in Street dance styles and K-pop.

In 2019 she started her marketing agency sensory media, providing advertising content and social media solutions for Australian companies entering or targeting the agent market.

Besides being one of the 4 judges of the PGT, she and her dancing group will kick off the event with a fabulous K-pop presentation.

➡️ Meet our judges - Carlos and Angela

Carlos and Angela are TV personalities best known from their appearances on the hit reality show Big Brother on Channel 7.

Best known for their big personalities and scathing truth bombs Angela was Part of season 1 of Big Brother 2020 and Holy Moly 2021, She is originally from Kenya and moved to Australia 20 years ago. She studied International Business at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle. She is self-driven and highly motivated to succeed in whatever she sets out to achieve.

Carlos was Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and moved to Australia in 2010. He came to learn English for 4 months and he decided to fight for his dreams in Australia. He has lived in Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and Hobart. He studied hospitality in Perth and got his PR in Northern territory.
in 2016 he opened his own Marketing company and has been working in the educational sector as a teacher and marketing consultant.

🔔 Launching on October 6th is the duo’s own podcast - Carlos and Angela, A different perspective, which brings together the eccentric Personalities for fun and laughter.
⏱ Season 1 consists of 12 episodes and launches on October 6.

Only 10 minutes west of Perth's central business district, the Subiaco Arts Centre is a multi-purpose venue surrounded by magnificent public gardens.

There are 305 seats available in the main auditorium which will be used to accommodate our international students, contestants, judges and everyone involved in the organization of this event.

PGT was developed through an idea by Vicky Dunford, Associate Director at NIT Australia. A grant submission was made to StudyPerth’s innovation funding and on September 30th, NIT Australia and their pathway partners will be hosting this fabulous event. The eight institutions have got together to provide an exciting event for over 200 of their International students to watch our talented students battle their way to the title of the winner of the inaugural PGT event.

We have amazing prizes for the top three winning acts as well as an audience choice award. If you are not one of the lucky students who manage to see the event live there is the chance to watch it from the comfort of our home and support these students.

The eight institutions that have made this event possible for our students including NIT Australia are ECU, Language Links, Murdoch University, Navitas English, PICE, Phoenix Academy, and Sheridan Institute of Technology.
