Day 5! 3 words conceptualised against the window!
The nice things about going back to school as a mature student - you aren’t scared to ask questions or to talk to new people; you are less self conscious and don’t really care if you look silly and you value the opportunity to learn and you know exactly what you want. You recognise all the insecurities and worries the younger students around you are feeling and can help them….and because you don’t have all that worry and anxiety - you are totally ready to give everything a go! We are fans of taking time to go back to education to learn new things and do what you love! Also we are very excited to discover that we are eligible for student discounts!
Printmaking and woodworking induction for me today - had fun learning how to use those scary noisy woodworking machines and cutting out the letters of my name and having a go at monoprinting and drypoint printing. Absorbing it all like a sponge!
Day 4! Shoes off, on the floor, pastels on translucent paper, Inky hands, deadline tomorrow😀! , ,
Day 3! FAD . My 3 words are Utopianism, Water and Enlarge. Go create! I do feel like I am in my own utopia and my creativity is being enlarged and man I am drinking a lot of water 😅🥵😂 More details to come…..at the end of the week!

I'm not telling you to make the world better, because I don't think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I'm just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. To make your own work and take pride in it. To seize the moment. And if you ask me why you should bother to do that, I could tell you that the grave's a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. Nor do they sing there, or write, or argue, or see the tidal bore on the Amazon, or touch their children. And that's what there is to do and get it while you can and good luck at it.

Creativity comes when we allow ourselves to expand into the spaces we make for ourselves.
It might manifest itself in the laying of the table, the flourish on a note, the colours you choose, the thoughts you compose…embrace it in all its forms and be enriched and inspired!
Many of the women who joined us on our Creative Experience trip to London would not call themselves “artists” and many haven’t had experiences drawing or painting. But they are creative in so many other areas of their lives. It has been lovely and a privilege to see them embrace the opportunity to try something different and explore their creativity in a new way. So proud of them all! And we are loving how it is inspiring them to take it further. We are all in it together to !

After the exhibit we got to sit out in the sunshine and draw and colour using our viewfinders while being inspired by the shapes and forms of the Barbican.
Thank you for a truly magical setting and a gorgeous dinner. We ate so well and had a really lovely experience. we will come back!
Today was the day we took these lovely ladies to the Barbican and spent time at the fabulous exhibition “Rebel Rebel”
It was life-enhancing, thought-provoking and eye-opening.

We have dry mild weather for our London trip next week! Perfect weather for exploring the architecture and history of the Barbican, visiting an exhibition, getting our creative juices flowing with some fun activities and dinner on the Thames - Bring it on!

Our first London based creative experience event takes place this coming February and we are so looking forward to our sunset dinner on this beautiful 100 year old Dutch barge with . There’s a gorgeous menu planned and beautiful views along the Thames to enjoy- just the thing after a day of arty explorations!
Jodie found a door that matched her on our research trip to London - we can’t wait to take our group of ladies to this fantastic exhibit at the Barbican and introduce them to her work.
Prototype viewfinder that will be part of a pack for the ladies joining us on our London Creative Experiences trip. It will be made with nicer wood and longer for easier holding we think. We are going to be using it as part of some creative activities around the theme of “Line, Shape and Colour”.

We have so many plans! Organising more creative get-togethers, trips out to inspire and events with makers and artists. And our longer term goal is to be able to plan some glorious fun arty trips abroad. Just banking this for now - but we love the idea of a relaxed weekend away in Paris mooching around the labyrinth of flea markets browsing through vintage textiles, threads and antiques. Who wants to come with us?
The joy of creating - remember “The very Hungry Caterpillar?” Over the lifetime of my 3 children - we must have read it almost every night!

I think that’s part of who we are on this page is because of our the belief that everyone has the capacity to create and enjoy that process and our desire for others to embrace that in their lives!
