Build Relationships, Don’t Just Collect Them!

People often ask why they should become members and network with the same group every month. The answer has two key parts:

1️⃣ New Faces Every Time: While you may see familiar faces, each meeting brings new attendees. It’s rarely possible to network with everyone in a single session, offering plenty of opportunities to forge new connections.

2️⃣ Quality Over Quantity in Networking: Meeting many people quickly might yield short-term benefits, but lasting success comes from building trust and deep relationships.

🎀 Trust is Crucial: When people trust you, they are more likely to seek opportunities for you and feel confident referring you.

🎀 Relationships Take Time: Investing effort in these connections can lead to lifelong friendships.

🎀 Networking is a Long Game: Consistent effort in networking will yield continuous results.

Remember, you reap what you sow. Genuinely get to know others, learn about them, and they will reciprocate. Then, watch the magic happen!

Q2 DONATION TOTAL: £1,029 to First Days
Charity

Each month we choose to donate a portion of our memberships to charity which means, thanks to our donations from our memberships and visitors, we have raised an incredible £1029.00 for First Days Charity during Q2 of 2024.

Ellie, the fundraising manager of First Days says:
"Thank you so much to all Ribbons Network supporters for your generous donations this quarter. This sum will make a huge difference to our charity and help fund the running costs for a whole month for our Community Outreach Van.
This enables us to go directly to communities and distribute essential items needed for their families to be safe, have fun and be confident at school."

Are your goals big enough?

It’s always great to be encouraged to set goals, communicate them, share them with other like-minded business people and feel like you are moving towards them!

This month at The Ribbons Network, as part of our featured monthly activity - we communicated our goals with each other and shared them to get some accountability.

The best part, was when we started to discuss how networking can play a part in achieving those goals.

IT'S GROW MONTH 🎀

We are halfway through the year! Can you believe it! It's a great time to reflect on the goals you have previously set and review whether they are still relevant, whether you have hit them, or if you still have some work to do towards them!

Some things for you to consider:

🎀 Realign with your goal
🎀 Is your goal big enough?
🎀 What support do you need to achieve your goal, could you utilise your network?
🎀 Can your goal be broken down into smaller, achievable sections with specific time stamps?

During the meeting, we will be spending some time asking you to share these specific goals allowing you to extend these conversations over breakfast.

It's LEARN month! 💡

What learning goal are you setting yourself this month?

It's always great to keep looking for opportunities to learn more, whether that is independently or through others. Maybe pick up that book you have been meaning to ready, listen to a podcast or attend that learning event?

At Guildford’s meeting last week, we talked through ways that we can learn from each others positive experiences when maximising our networking opportunities. Some of the (non specific Ribbons) examples shared are below for your reference:

🎀 Make notes at meetings and then make time to follow up after the meeting
🎀 Set a goal to book in a 121 before you leave the meeting
🎀 Try booking a 'different' type of 121 (for example a dog walk)
🎀 set your intentions before going into a networking meeting

SUPPORTING CHARITY 🎗️

At The Ribbons Network, we now donate to a different, chosen Charity each quarter, this quarter we have chosen ‘First Days Children's Charity’.

First Days Children's Charity gives choice, restores dignity, and empowers families who are living with a low income or are experiencing financial hardship.

They believe that all children should:
be safe in their home, and out and about. They should be confident in school. They should have lots of fun.

We are excited to be supporting them, not only just because they are an excellent Charity, but they are one of the group's newest members!

RAFFLE PRIZES PLEASE 🎁
At each of our meetings, we run a raffle to support the charity.. You can donate a prize from your business into the raffle, this doesn't have to be too costly to you but it can be a fantastic way to give another business owner insight into your business, making them likely to buy from you and/or recommend you to their contacts.

Pippa has recently joined us at our meeting as our resident !

The decision was an easy one for Pippa as she has been part of the network before in another location and loves the community and support!

After finding that Guildford works for her she was quick to jump in and is now bringing energy and vibrancy to our meetings!

Recently Ben Neale from Atticus 7 decided to double up his membership and become a member of both our and meetings!
