As the conference closed only on Friday, July 12, I’m filled with a bittersweet sense of accomplishment and nostalgia. Over the past seven years, I've been deeply invested in this project, witnessing the changes and working tirelessly with Barbara Scott Smith towards the final vision for the conference. While much has changed in those few years, our goal remained steady: to elevate to new heights. And we achieved that together.

This journey was filled with meticulous planning, site visits, and solutions for overcoming unexpected challenges. Our six days of intense technical sessions, complemented by three elaborate social events and an additional week of pre-conference field trips, were a testament to our dedication. The behind-the-scenes efforts, though immeasurable, were crucial to our success.

Seeing the many happy faces and hearing the heartfelt thank-yous made me incredibly proud of what we accomplished.

This morning, as I departed , I said goodbye to some wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of working with over these years; they were an amazing team of Yellowknife suppliers who backed me up 100% and made this event possible. I hope we were able to forge new, lasting connections and I truly hope this is just the beginning because if a chance arises, I’d jump on an opportunity to work with them again.

Above everything, I am grateful for Barbara's trust in me to take IKC to a new standard and allowing me to be a part of creating something remarkable.

The excitement is palpable as we gear up for the 12th International Kimberlite Conference!
The last few days have been spent on final meetings, making sure everything is coming together, and working with a team of wonderful people from Yellowknife who make the impossible not only possible but also take them to the next level.
We are ready to welcome delegates from around the world to 12 IKC, which we hope will be a landmark event. Get ready: Day 1 starts tomorrow.
See you all soon!

Just returned from another successful conference, this time held in vibrant Singapore!
The power of and was on full display working together with Sea to Sky, Committee and ASME. It was great to embrace the rich and diverse culture of our host city - Singapore, bringing its unique flavours and experiences to our delegates. A heartfelt thanks to all of our local suppliers for making the seemingly impossible, possible.

While the conference days were intense, the long planning process truly paid off. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing smiley faces and hearing positive feedback from our delegates and clients who enjoyed and benefited from the event.

Getting here has been quite the journey, and the next three months will be even busier. Witnessing all the meticulous planning come together is incredibly fulfilling. From experiencing 's freezing cold in February 2019 to the endless days of July 2023, I've seen this city in all seasons.
But the trip I am really looking forward to will be that one final visit in July 2024 for the Conference.
Seven years of planning due to COVID disruption, but after last week's site visit, is no longer just an idea but a remarkable event rapidly approaching and only three months away. It's been a privilege to collaborate with exceptional individuals on the Committee and work alongside fabulous Yellowknife suppliers to bring this event to life. The countdown begins now!

Exciting News!!!

I am thrilled to share the incredible privilege of being a Professional Conference Organisers Association member! After Covid and moving countries, I felt like I was missing out on something, but after attending the last December, I got this jolt of energy, feeling again like what I do matters, not just for me, but on a much broader scale.

We, the Event Profs, are one dynamic community of critical thinkers! And while our jobs are rated as highly stressful, I would not know how to function if I wasn’t doing what I was doing.
Joining the community with the opportunity to collaborate, network, think outside the box and do things as they have never been done before was the best Christmas gift to me!

I look forward to taking it to the next level and learning how I can help shape the future of the ever-changing event planning.
And trust me, dates are already on my calendar.

Reflecting on an Incredible Year at The Conference Runner!

As 2023 comes to a close, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and pride for my remarkable journey. Being back in Australia gives me that extra energy, and I have invested all in The Conference Runner. This year has been a testament to the dedication, innovation, and excellent relationships with the clients, suppliers and industry.

Amongst managing this year's conferences, attending site visits, planning meetings and, of course, joining PCOA and networking with all of the amazing people in the event industry, no matter how busy I get, I still claim to have the best job on the planet. And for that, I am grateful even more than ever this year.

I want to express my profound appreciation to every client, partner, and supporter. Your trust in The Conference Runner has been the driving force behind this success. You know when you love your job, when you get excited about the project and its successes as much as the client. Six years in the making and after all Covid delays, 12 IKC is finally happening. The registration has launched yesterday and we already have few people registered. I can't wait to see the final outcome. July 2024 will come before I know it, and I want this conference even bigger and better than we imagined.

Being a conference planner is truly an international job.
I worked on an OMAE conference held in the US, and then one held in Canada, and now, I was lucky enough to work again on the one in Melbourne.
Had an opportunity to work with my colleagues from Sea to Sky and ASME and even a volunteer I had once assisted at one of these conferences. Our industry at times feels like a small world, but sure allows us to build strong connections.
Heading home after the conference, knowing that the clients, Co-chairs, and delegates are happy, made my day!

I consider myself lucky, because I love what I do. As Mark Twain famously said, “find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
What I do for a living comes from my passion to work with clients and help them turn their vision of an event into a reality.

It’s with this passion that I embrace & appreciate every opportunity to see a conference unfold seamlessly after months of planning.
Happy delegates gathered with happy clients brings me joy and is a constant reminder of why I do what I do.

With much excitement, I am happy to announce that I am launching my own conference consulting business, where I'll have the opportunity to work on some unique events alongside many dedicated committees.
If you need someone to run your event or know someone planning one, please do reach out to or refer, The Conference Runner, and I will be happy to "run" your conference with you.
