And so much more! On previous visits, we have had intelligent interaction with our equipment, bangs, intelliegnt spirit box responses and a shadow figure was seen along with interaction with staff and guests. This is a venue not to be missed!! It may not look like a jail, but dont be fooled! 👻👻👻

History
In 1779, Bodmil jail or otherwise known as Bodmin Gaol, was built by prisoners of war and was designed by sir John Call! It operated for over 150 years. This was the first prison in Britain to hold prisoners in separate cells!! Within the jail, there were over 50 Hangings that happened here! Men, women, and children as young as 6 were held here! The Crown Jewels and the famous “Domesday Book” were stored here during World War 1! It closed in 1927, and whilst many of the buildings fell into ruin, the majority of what was left has now been turned into a grand tourist attraction, with another large part recently turned into a hotel.

Why not join Dark Shadows Paranormal UK for our night out at these haunted tunnels!
With reports of ghostly sightings, sounds of radio communication, and chilling screams. On our last visits we encounteres a spirit mocking a team memebers voice! Lots of interaction with equipment and growls! What will you encounter in the dark and spooky tunnels ?

Come and explore the tunnels hidden below Fort Southwick. The D Day bunker, which has 1.5 miles of tunnels, was created in 1942 by Royal Engineers. Built as a secret underground bunker and used during WW2 and the cold War, they provided a safe and bombproof environment to work on some of the most important military decisions during World War 2 as well as The Cold War. Fort Southwick was used as a Naval, Army, and Air Force Operation Control and Communication Centre – call sign ‘MIN’.
The headquarters’ main role on D-Day was gathering information and coordinating the Allied naval forces.

Many reports from radar stations were cross-referenced with messages from shipping to provide an accurate picture of what was happening in the English channel. This information was then plotted on a large table map at Victorian Fort and was passed to the Allied commanders nearby at Southwick House. On the 6 June 1944 there were 700 staff working underground and 1000 above ground.

These tunnels are considered to be one of the most secretive locations. Even finding them today is not an easy task !

Reported Activity
Dark shadows lurking around corners, creepy footsteps following you through the tunnels to loud bangs and full apparitions being caught!! On previous visits we communicated with children, interaction from equipment and much more.

History
Fort Purbrook was built in the 1870’s at the same time as the other forts on the hill but It has more modern defence elements as it was one of the last to be completed. Like all the forts it has many mysteries, local legends and myths.
The fort Purbrook was used mainly by the military right up to the 60’s and was used during both world wars, where it saw action from them both . The home guards used it as a training site, it was also to store military equipment and a vehicle depo. It was used for many things over the years , as a pre-Europe bound soldiers station and it was also a RAF/Navy raid training facility.
In the mid 60’s it was left to the local council where the fort became neglected and it also got heavily vandalised as it was just sat empty. Councillor Peter Ashley took the fort on in the early 80’s so that young children could go and enjoy outdoor sporting activities away from the city. With the help of the youth training scheme (YTS) the process of rebuilding the fort began. Once this had been completed the doors were open to the first clubs which were judo and archery. Over the next 36 years the Peter Ashley centres took place . Now they have an engagement of more than seventy thousand people through out the year viewing and using the fort. The fort was built to defend the community of Portsmouth but now it serves the community. With so much history here what will we find?

Why not join us as we investigate this haunted fort!

Reported Activity.
Reports of footsteps, banging, and whistling have been heard. The little drummer boy who fell to his death on the spiral stairs said to play games.
A dominant male – the shadow man has been seen walking with a lantern, peering over people at 7ft tall. A female spirit who is said to look after the children found in the tunnels.

Who will you encounter!!

On previous visits, we have witnessed footsteps, equipment being triggered, intelligent communications. Members have been touched and followed. Communications with The Sergeant who disliked females. Shadows have been seen. This is a venue not to be missed.

History
Fort Widley was built in 1861 but was not completed until 1870. It was built to defend the city of Portsmouth from land and sea attacks. This six sided building was able to accommodate 250 men, and there were 12 married quarters. The fort was part of the Palmerstons Folly, which was named after the Prime Minister at the time Lord Henry Palmeston. Fort Widley was one of 6 Forts built, but by the time they were finished, the threat of an invasion from the French was already over.
There is a spiral staircase in the middle of the fort that was used to access the four underground tunnels.
It was disarmed in 1907 but remained in military hands being used as a barracks for the Royal Artillery until 1939.
In 1942, it was used to house prisoners of war, and from 1943, it was an alternative control centre for Southwick House (HMS Dryad).
Then on 19 February 1952, the Civil Defence Committee of Portsmouth Borough Council proposed the construction was needed for the borough to be used in the event of a nuclear attack; it was decided this should be established at Fort Widley.
It continued to perform this function until the end of the Cold War and the Portsmouth District Council Emergency Centre, as it was by then known, finally closed in 1992.

About Merley House
Merley House is a grade 1 listed Georgian Manor house which sits on 35 acres of beautiful grounds which overlook the stour valley. The manor house is located on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster. Merley house originally belonged to the lords of Canford. In 1751, Ralph Willit purchased the manor house. Ralph Willit started adding to the manor house to make it bigger and grander than it already was until it became what we see today.
I'm 1772 Ralph Willet added several more rooms, but these were demolished in the early 1800s when the house went up for auction. In 1875 the house and grounds were sold to an Ivor guest the 1st lord of Wimborne and then in 1927 the house was sold again to a Mr Angus Valdmar (the MP for south Dorset) in a very delapitated condition. Angus Valdmar spent years Renovitating the whole Manor house, but in 1939, at the outbreak of war, it was requisitioned by the war office. They finally left the Manor House and grounds in 1946. Once again, the Manor house went up for sale, but this time, it was sold off into 14 lots as the grounds had gone down to just 270 acres, then to be turned into flats.
During the 1960s, a holiday park was started by the present owners to help pay for the restoration of the house once again. Part of the house was then opened to the public. Most recently, it was restored again to create a spacious and elegant area for a variety for different affairs.

Men, women, and children worked to make wires, pins, and utensils made of brass and copper, but by the mid 19th century, when pin making ceased, it was used as a boot fact It was also used in connection with Warmley Tower Potteries but now is being used as a community centre.

With over 65,000 objects stored here could spirits not want to leave there once loved possessions. Or are they stuck with the reminders of war and cannot leave! With so much history. What will you discover?? 👻👻👻

History
Rifles Museum known as The Wardrobe is a beautiful grade 2 listed building. The current building dates back to the 15th century and was used to store the robes of the bishop of sailsbury which is where it's name The Wardrobe/Rifles comes from, however this wasn't the first building on this site. The orginal building was constructed in 1254 to become the residence of one of the canons who served Sailsbury cathedral. Later being let out to non clerical tenants. Big changes were made in the 18th century by the Coles family. History
This beautiful grade 2 listed building was built in the mid 1890s for James Howell to be used as a family home for his 11 children. Originally known as Grove House.
An unusual aspect of the house is that it was designed to be able to be divided into two. With two front doors and a wall in the cellar, which could have been extension upwards to docide the house into two. The servants occupied the top floor. Also used as a home for the Lord mayor's until 1971. Now used by Cardiff Council as a venue for events, weddings, civil ceremonies, and functions.
