De revanche

Het eerste Nectar feest vond plaats op 1 maart 2020 in ClubNL, een week voordat Nederland op slot ging vanwege de Corona pandemie. Om die reden was het een gezellige, maar nauwelijks drukke avond, waar wel geweldig werd gedraaid door B.O.B. en Lemon8.

We wilden een revanche.

Die kregen we afgelopen woensdag 13 oktober 2021. Met B.O.B (Bob van der Linden), Nathalie Henriette en Nick Muir achter de decks en MC PPholl als MC vierde Nectar Mick Boskamp's 30 jarig jubileum als nachtreporter. En het dak ging eraf in Club NL Amsterdam. Eindelijk. Foto’s EvaCaptures

Nathalie is de bom!

Ze viel op tijdens de Corona crisis met haar retestrakke mixen op Mixcloud, mixen die regelmatig in de hoogste regionen van de global Mixcloud charts belandden.

Wat een geweldig vooruitzicht om op 13 oktober met ADE te draaien in Club NL Amsterdam! Dance connaisseur Mick Boskamp schreef in 30 jaar Nightlife Stories over zijn hilarische avonturen en ontmoetingen, zo ook over Nick Muir (producer van John Digweed) die speciaal voor deze avond naar Amsterdam overvliegt. Nick: “Gonna be so great to get back to NL and see everyone! I really feel at home there and so looking forward to getting out and playing again to celebrate Mick’s 300 years in showbusiness reporting!! It’ll be a wonderful occasion!”

Our resident Dj B.O.B. (Bob van der Linden) is not only a terrific Dj, he is also a poet. He came up with the beautiful payoff 'Nectar. Mick Boskamp stages his fine fleur'. Meaning that I, the name bearer of this club night, am only going for the top tier or top layer of the national and international Dj bunch.

With that in mind Dj B.O.B. (who is also a great introducer 😉) introduced me to a new star on the horizon who just made a mix for the di.fm progressive channel in Russia.

I totally love this one hour set of Dutch Nathalie Henriette!

It's sexy, dark, uplifting, intelligent and mysterious. In a club it would create mayhem on the dance floor. And I am not the only one who is locked into Nathalie's sound. The Russia mix appeared on Mixcloud yesterday and now it already reached the ninth spot on the global progressive chart.

Super Nick Muir

Last Tuesday was super Tuesday indeed, because my good friend Nick Muir played an absolute belter of a live set on Mixcloud! Today I'm listening for the third time to Super Tuesday EP 38 Blimey and trust me: you should listen to it too!

When things are moving in the right direction in the world and we can dance like we used to dance, it would be a dream(team) come true to have Nick and our resident DJ B.O.B. A world of wonders with Frequencies 15 by Dj. B.O.B.

Music can make you so happy. Since I received the new Frequencies 15 mix from Nectar resident B.O.B. just before Easter, my world became a world of wonders.

The weather is extremely weird outside, especially for April. There are short, sunny periods, which are alternated with equally short periods of wet snow, which is blown horizontally by a strong wind. But inside, in my apartment on the dunes, it is cozy and comfortable. Since I received the new Frequencies 15 mix from B.O.B. just before Easter my world became a world of wonders.

Due to the great choice of music and the incredibly tight mixes of Bob van der Linden, as B.O.B is known when not performing or mixing music, everything comes in louder and more pleasant today. When I receive an email from Loveland that a room can be booked in the 4-star Loveland Hotel during the two-day festival on 7 and 8 August, I can already see myself lying there. Preferably with my love, after bouncing off all the beauty I have seen and heard.

While the mix of B.O.B. Is halfway I hear a great vocal track in which a male voice says: this should be played in high volume, preferably in a residential area.
I do what the good man tells me and turn the volume up. I am lucky that I live in a residential area where many people live who are even older than me and where I rarely get complaints about my Frequencies. I check that regularly. Yesterday, after I listened to B.O.B.'s music all morning, I asked an elderly neighbor if my noise wasn't bothering him. He responded with: "Could you repeat that? I'm a little deaf."

When I first heard Frequencies 15, I was reminded of the animated Disney movie Ratatouille. I thought of the apotheosis of the story when the razor-sharp restaurant critic tastes the ratatouille prepared by Remy the mouse and goes crazy. This is because the taste of the dish takes the critic back to his youth, when his mother made his beloved ratatouille for him.

With his astonishing, sixty-minute long mix, B.O.B takes me back to a period when going out was a total experience, which you eagerly looked forward to. Not that the music is old school. On the contrary. The deep house sound for the underbelly is completely contemporary, but the feeling I get with it, evokes memories of unforgettable evenings, nights and mornings.

You would think that there was a certain melancholy involved. Wrong. What happened happened. And this mix also lets me look ahead to what might be possible again when it is summer and the festival season starts. In the worst case scenario, I just make a party of it myself. With my love and the mixes of Dj B.O.B.

For me, the energy of a mix is ​​nectar for the soul. A compilation that gets better when you listen to it regularly because there is more and more to discover. Travel with me on Frequencies 15.

Dj B.O.B. aka Bob van der Linden and I didn't realize it! That our Nectar Party on the 1st of March 2020 in Club NL Amsterdam was for most of the people who were there the 'last party'.
Before Corona put a stop to partying as we know it, we had a ball. That's for sure! 💃🕺

Hier de foto's van de eerste Nectar @ Club NL. Het was werelds! In 1981 was ik op het eerste optreden van Prince in Paradiso. Het was er niet druk, maar de artiest uit Minneapolis speelde het dak eraf. Uit alle verhalen later moeten er wel duizenden mensen zijn geweest.

Daar moest ik aan denken die zondag, de eerste maart in 2020 in Club NL. Dj. B.O.B en Harry Lemon draaiden het dak eraf. Check de fantastische foto's van Dennis Bouman maar. Zo moeten intieme, ondergrondse feestjes zijn: doordrenkt van passie en liefde.

Dance Floor Madness

Nectar's resident D.J. B.O.B. (Bob van der Linden) has a romantic side to him and a little darker character trait. The latter played out while he was mixing no. 14 in his beloved Frequencies-series. Resulting in one hour of absolute dance floor madness.

The second Nectar will materialize!

Today I saw an excellent photo of the best MC this dance-world has to offer, MC PPholl. Taken at A Day At The Park in 2012, I guess. Doing what he does best on the main stage. And I thought: what a pity that the second Nectar couldn't happen because of Corona. MC PPholl would have been our MC, while Nectar-resident Dj B.O.B. (Bob van der Linden) would have done an all nighter. But thinking about that night that never happened brings a smile on my face. Because one day/night this will be the second Nectar indeed! ❤️🙏

March 1 of this year was the day that our first and only Nectar Party was staged at Club NL in Amsterdam. Right after that wonderful night corona hit our shores and parties were canceled and clubs were closed. But if you think that Nectar was a one party affair, think again. Because here is the latest and gorgeous mix of Nectar's resident Dj B.O.B. (aka Bob van der Linden). It's sexy, adventurous, hypnotic, intelligent, the works. Nectar is not over, Nectar is alive and kicking'. Join the party!

Modesty often comes with a shipload of talent. Take the legendary Dj and producer from Rotterdam, Harry Lemon aka Lemon8. He doesn't need to shout over the top, because there is simply no lack of talent to be covered up. Listen to his February-mix for FRISKY and you know exactly what we mean.
