{{{{ I, myself am a formerly Homeless Trans Youth who ended up on the street immediately after beginning my transition back in 2013 and have struggled with unstable housing most of my adult life. I cant tell you how thankfully I am to be able to turn around and help youth who are in similar situations to what I went through almost 10 years ago. PROTECTING OUR TRANS YOUTH STARTS WITH STANDING UP FOR TRANS YOUTH, it starts with organizing and pooling resources to help where we can. }}}}
Please be honest with us. We (being the collective that you see at events) are a small, fluctuating group of struggle trans women; run by one person. I do not profit from these events, all proceeds go towards hiring trans people, paying performers and covering back end expenses to help keep this project running. I can only keep these going with donations and support from our community members.
I love each and every one of you and I'm so happy to be back and throughing another Trans & Non-Binary Community event and I'm so excited to see everyone at the event.

Just a reminder that your valid and deserve to be respected and accepted, especially within our own community. Don't let anyone tell you that your not Trans Enough because it is not anyone else's place to gate keep or dictate another persons identity.
Anyone who tries to argue your identity to you, is known as "True-Scum" a tem that's derived from "True Trans".
Honestly, I'm really sad to see that this still takes place within our community. I transitioned 9 1/2 years ago, and I've witnessed dramatic improvements, in society, healthcare, media representation, access to economic opportunities and within the community itself.
My transition hasn't been easy, I lost everything when I came out. I've lived through homelessness and unstable housing, physical and sexual violence, extensive discrimination and harassment. I've been a S*x Worker for much of my transition and I've had to fight for every little thing I've ever had. And, I've also lost everything and had to start over again with nothing and no one more times then I wish like to admit. I've had to learn how to be an adult, and a woman, the hard way. And to be completely honest,my life is still riddled with uncertainty and far from being considered stable.
Somedays, the anxiety and ptsd are to much to bare, and I often struggle to express myself and my relationships and friendships suffer as a result. I will admit that I have made many mistakes in my life, but at the end of the day, the only thing we can really do is learn from them and try to become the best version of yourself as we possibly can.
I chose to share this because I know what it's like to feel like I don't belong in my own community, and to be bullied for not being "femme" enough, to be told "I don't try hard enough" when for so long basic survival was a full time struggle. And I too have suffered the lasting effects that those words have had on my sense of identity and mental health. I hope someone reading this will feel less alone, and might now believe me when I say 'YOU DESERVE RESPECT and Your identity is for you and you alone to decide. Only you can tell us who you are.

Founded in 1994 by activist Gwendolyn Ann Smith, The Gazebo offered trans folks an unprecedented online haven.
Arrest data from Portland and five other major West Coast Cities show that neighborhood outcry is fueling the vast criminalization of the homeless for largely nonviolent violations, according to an analysis by Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting. It's a phenomenon that is generating unaffordable fines for individuals experiencing homelessness, sapping municipal resources, and failing to address the core problems fueling homelessness. Pretty judgemental if you ask me smh.
Also, JK Rowling, the self-proclaimed proud TERF has been completely silent about this. Instead, sharing misleading and transphobic tweets, because, as we all know, it's now her full-time job.
Trans men and non-binary people have been vocal too about this stripping of rights.

Where we live! I am in Michigan.
We spend the first part of our lives being told the rules. Who we are. Who we are not. How to act. How not to act. And then we begin trying to figure out who we are for ourselves. For some of us, that is made a bit more difficult due to the differences between what we feel and how we act and what we're told we should feel and how we're told we should act. And at some point, we realize that we wasted a lot of time trying to do what we were told...by people who didn't have any idea of who we were.

Don't forget about TRANSATIONS: Trans Kink Night at Sanctuary JULY 30TH
I haven't been in an emotionally healthy space to make this post for the past week or so but it's important for me to make
What happend over Pride Weekend?
In a nut shell Santè Bar went back on promises made in advance. Those included equipment rentals, permits and failed to notify me in advance.
As well as payment required for security services which left me to pay my security staff out of pocket with money I did not have.
I personally feel that I was taken advantage of.
This put me in a bad spot given that I'm being evicted and the money I would have made over Pride Weekend would have helped me move. Now I have 30 cents in my bank account and I am facing homelessness in the next couple of weeks.
Over the past several months since launching PDXTransEvents I have made considerable sacrifices. It's been hard and I have not been able to support myself. I've also had a hard time finding venues given that we are a transgender centered event production project. Most venues I connect with will not work with us which left me desperate for a venue and I over looked red flags that where Presented in the beginning. I want to apologize to the community.
Currently the future of this project is uncertain. I will be looking for a regular job soon, but I hope to at least be able to continue Transations at Sanctuary.
I want to thank everyone who has supported my project over the past few months. I love you all.
