It was late 2008 when the Melbourne-based dance-pop diva burst on to the scene with the huge club smash ‘Release Me’ that was quickly dubbed ”THE song of the summer”. Produced by double ARIA-award winning outfit TV ROCK, it spent a massive

7 consecutive weeks in the #1 spot on the Australian ARIA Club Chart and scored both ARIA and APRA nominations.

Release Me quickly spread beyond Australian shores released in 28 countries around the world and commandeering the dance floor club charts. Throughout 2009, the magic continued as a further collaboration with TV ROCK – In The Moment – blitzed the Top 10 on the ARIA Club Chart. Zoe embarked on an international run of live dates, lighting up dance floors all over the world, but in mid-2010, Zoe hit us with ‘Freefallin’ proving to be her finest moment yet. Freefallin’ is a dance-pop triumph.

Freefallin‘ stormed its way into the top 10 ARIA singles chart in addition to topping the ARIA Australian Artist Chart, ARIA Club Chart and iTunes Dance Chart. The track immediately found support at key radio stations across the nation, becoming the #6 most played track in the country.

Freefallin‘ has since achieved quadruple platinum sales accreditation and well over 2 million views on YouTube. Following on from this, Zoe released the single ‘Carry Me Home’ (a collaboration with TV ROCK’s Grant Smillie) along with her acclaimed self-titled debut album.

Zoe then gave us ‘Torches’ becoming the Official Anthem of the 2014 Sydney Mardi. ‘Torches’ premiered as part of Mardi Gras’ official season trailer video on YouTube and was used as the soundtrack for the Mardi Gras season events which were attended by hundreds of thousands of people from all corners of the globe. It is one of the largest festivals in the world and is one of Australia’s biggest tourists draw cards.

In 2016 Zoe partnered with electro house sensations The Potbelleez to create the ultimate remake of the 1998 global hit H***y, written by Mousse T. This latest rendition, release by Ministry of Sound went straight to the top of the Dance Music Charts.

Artist Profile #2: John Course - SUPER EXCITED FOR A CLASSIC HOUSE SET!!!!

Having been part of house music since its emergence in Australia, John first came to prominence by winning the Victorian leg of the DMC turntable-ist competition…A feat he repeated two years in a row!!! Moving from those turntable roots, he embraced house music from the start, was listed in DJ Mag’s first ever Top 100 DJ’s list in 1993 and went on to start a successful label and produce original music… One of the founders of Vicious Recordings (Est. 1992), John is the GM of the label collective that first signed artists such as Madison Avenue, Rogue Traders, Peking Duk, Dirty South, Sgt Slick, a bunch of Avicii’s first ever recordings and many more tracks from DJ’s and producers from all over the world. Over 500 releases deep, Vicious continues to put out a stack of music, both on its original Vicious label, as well as imprints BeRich & Vicious Black. On a DJ front, there are over one million compilation sales that include a John Course mix CD in Australian music collections across Ministry of Sound, One Love and Vicious. His Novanation radio show aired nationally on the NOVA network for over 7 years and in March 2020 he started a webcast on Facebook, Twitch and YouTube playing classics and future anthems every Saturday night at 7pm (AEST), which has proved to be one of the most popular broadcasts by an Australian DJ during the Corona Virus lockdown. John’s musical taste is diverse, often dropping some wicked underground sounds at a dark little club or working his way through his extensive back catalogue of house and disco. Between all of the above, John also gets the urge to produce music from time to time, having been part of Blackout (who’s “Gottta Have Hope” was a huge club record globally), been one half of Electro Funk Lovers and done solo production under his alias J.A.C. or simply as John Course (where he first remixed for Defected Records on a remix of King Unique’s now classic “Love Is What You Need” with Andy Van way back in 2000). His most recent remixes have been Rave Radio’s “You’re Making Me High” & Sgt Slick’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” with more new music is due in the second half of 2020. John’s technical skills are only surpassed by his experience in programming the right music for the crowd in front of him and his deep knowledge of dance music’s back catalogue… both significant, but sometimes forgotten qualities of a good DJ. It is these things that ensures he is still in demand as a DJ several decades after those two DMC titles.
