The Detroit Choice Awards proudly honor Chef Max Hardy (Posthumous). We celebrate the extraordinary Maxcel Hardy, a culinary artist whose influence remains strong despite his early passing. Born on December 5, 1983, in Detroit, Michigan, Maxcel was passionate about cooking.After moving to Florida as a teenager, he refined his skills and served as the personal chef for NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire for five years. In 2019, The New York Times named him one of the “16 Black Chefs Changing Food in America.” His restaurant was also recognized as one of the “Best New Restaurants in Metro Detroit.”Maxcel’s dedication to community service shone during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he provided meals to those in need, earning accolades as a Detroit Free Press Food Fighter and one of The Detroit News’ Michiganians of the Year in 2021.As we present this lifetime achievement award, we honor Maxcel’s culinary talent and his commitment to uplifting others, showcasing the impact one person can have on their community. #detroitchoiceawards #RIP #CelebratingSuccess #chefmaxhardy #detroithonors
