DJ T-Jah - The Way Of The Samurai

15 years ago, T-Jah started experimenting with cutting film dialogues into his mixes. This was his first attempt on an underground Hip Hop tape, which beat-wise is very much inspired by J Dilla, who sadly passed away the same year. You hear Forest Whitaker talking about the Samurai code right out of the film "Ghostdog" by Jim Jarmusch.

After a longer break from producing mixtapes, this was T-Jah's first attempt to get back into business. So it's more of an electronic influenced take on the Nu Soul genre, with lots of female voices all over it. That's how it started...nearly 20 years ago. It was not his first mixtape but it was T-Jah's first try to make a mix more to be intended for listening than promoting or dancing. At that time...end of the last millennium - start of the new one...Neo Soul or Nu-Soul was getting really big.
