At the start of the month, LarpCon UK held their annual UK Larp Awards, and it's a delight to announce that Asphodel LARP won *Best New Larp* and *Best Medium Larp* run in 2023! And our player James Dance won Judge's Choice for Costume in the photography awards! ⚡⚡⚡

A huge thank you to everyone who wrote in about the game, what you wrote convinced dozens of past winners on the judge's panel that the game was not only shortlist worthy, but was good enough to get a few golden daggers.

(There was some confusion about Best Overall Larp on the day; the UK Larp Awards have gotten in touch and there are no hard feelings as mistakes happen, and honestly it's compliment enough to get two top awards! But I suppose we have a challenge for future years now 😉)

Tickets for this year's Asphodel event come out later this month! Here's what you need to know about the release.

Asphodel Event 2: 5 - 7 July 2024
Venue: Gunman Airsoft Eversley

Ticket Price: £90
Deposit option: 50% of ticket price
Release Date: 30th January 2024 from 7pm
A link to the ticket shop will be shared on the day of release.

50 player tickets* will be released across two time slots on our website. There will be a part-payment option, with the remainder due a month later. There will be a one hour delay before tickets open to new players.

Existing players: 7pm
New players: 8pm

30 crew tickets will be released alongside new player tickets. Crewing is free and includes meals from our dedicated caterer. A menu will be released before the event, including vegan options.

🏺 New Year, New Team! 🏺

Since E1, some great people have stepped up to help run Asphodel!

I’d like to introduce you to the Asphodel Game Team. Left to right, we have Keith (he/him, that’s me!), Ren (any pronouns), Sam (he/him), and Feargus (they/them). Together, we’re writing the plot, reviewing rules, and doing online admin. We’ll be joined by Gigi during the event as our constant player-side referee with the NPC Xanthus, with various crew/NPCs popping into the game to give additional support throughout the weekend.

January will be filled with a lot of updates about the game, with more details on tickets this week, then rules updates, teasers, and tickets going on sale later in the month (after payday).

It's a new year, and that means time to reveal some new news!

Firstly, tickets for Enter the Spirit World: To the Boneyard will start being sold on 1st February. A £40 deposit is needed to secure your ticket if you don't pay in full upfront, and tickets are capped at 40 players. Next up, the photo album from the first Spirit World event will be moving over to the facebook group shortly. When originally posting it here, we didn't realise facebook wouldn't allow tags, and since there are plans for other game systems, it'll be much tidier to only post a selection on this page from each event.

Finally, there's a second game system in the works! Well, there's many more than that, but one that will be officially launched this year. Asphodel LARP is an Ancient Greek themed fantasy game where you play a denizen of the Underworld tasked by Hades with solving the recent chaos ocurring in the realm. We're currently contacting venues and aiming to book something for 14-16 July 2023. A draft of the rules is already online, and tickets will be released as soon as a venue has been secured, which we hope will be this month.
