Hey Luxers, how are y’all doing?💕
October is such a special month for me. I couldn’t allow it to finish without sharing a post. Not only is October my birthday month, but it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This cause is dear to me.
I am sure that breast cancer has affected you or someone you know directly or indirectly. Many women in Grenada have succumbed to this ugly disease. Including three of my aunts.
As of this year, breast cancer became the most common cancer globally. Statistics have shown that in women under 45, breast cancer is more common in Black women than in white women. Overall, Black women are more likely to die of breast cancer. (breastcancer.org)
When I lived in NYC, I organized a team, sold T.shirts, and participated in the Breast Cancer fundraiser Walk in Brooklyn three years in a row. It was my way of bringing people together and supporting a cause for us women.
Today, I urge you ladies to examine your breasts regularly. Women over forty, please do your yearly mammograms. Let us take care of ourselves more proactively. Let self-care be more than skincare and candle-lit baths.
Join me in pledging to take care of our mind, body, and soul. Let us create a balanced routine that keeps us active, our minds at peace, and our souls ablaze with passion and purpose. Remember, an unhealthy mind can influence disease.
We will RISE together in this fight against breast cancer, which affects us all. 💞
