I was thrilled to see a Google review come in recently from Catherine and Chris, whom I worked with in June 2023 at Pinchinthorpe Hall. It made me look back on their celebration last year and remember what a truly gorgeous day it was 🥰 There's lots more genuine reviews from couples on my Google page if you want to check me out! (just search 'I Do' Your Ceremony)

It’s never too late to leave a review and you’ve never ‘missed the boat’ - it’s so lovely to receive your feedback, no matter how long ago your special day was!

Catherine and Chris wrote - “Jackie was a fantastic celebrant for our wedding celebration. She spent time getting to know us and gave us the tone of a ceremony that we really wanted. Perfect in every way.

She asked for information from us and worded it so beautifully for the ceremony it was fabulous. She offers a full range of different additions you might want to include and offers a full range of suggestions for readings to get you started on those.

Is she a standard celebrant? No - a guest from our wedding recently attended a ceremony led by another celebrant and said our celebrant was so much better. Thanks Jackie.”

Thank you both for taking the time to write such lovely words!

If a Celebrant-led wedding sounds like something you might be interested in for your special day, or if you have any more questions, please drop me a message! 💛

One of the beauties of a Celebrant-led ceremony is that you have total freedom; there is no set format and the content is completely unique to you and flexible.

That means you can include any readings, poems, or personal stories that are special to you or reflect your journey so far as a couple. 💛

You might already have some in mind, or I’m more than happy to suggest ones I’ve come across along the way (I have a large collection of suggestions!)

Here’s a snippet from a lovely poem entitled ‘Marry Your Best Friend’ by N’tima 🥰👇

“Marry your best friend.
Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with.
Someone who speaks highly of you.
Someone you can laugh with.
The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort.
The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs.
Wit is important.”

Things that make me go WOW!

How gorgeous is this photo?! 🥰 It speaks a thousand words about the two beautiful brides and their relationship, but also the talent of photographer Julia Healey who took the shot!

Another York-based supplier, I love working with Julia. She is fun and creative with her photography, taking care to make everyone feel comfortable. Not only that, but the images and moments she captures are just fantastic.

Just like I do as an Independent Celebrant, Julia understands that each couple and every wedding is different, so she aims to really get to know each couple in order to capture the feelings and memories that will make their photographs special and personal.

If you’d like to hear more of my recommended suppliers or want to chat about how a Celebrant-led ceremony could work for you, please drop me a message or email me at [email protected].

Things that make me go WOW!

I’m so lucky to work with so many suppliers in the wedding industry and so many of them do an amazing job every time, never failing to impress me.

Another fantastic supplier I’d like to showcase is the wonderful Emma the Florist. She is unbelievably talented and did the amazing flowers at Olivia and Tom's beautiful wedding at Thicket Priory earlier this year!

Every single arrangement of flowers was truly gorgeous, from the bouquets to the table settings and entranceway displays. The colours were stunning too and looked perfect with the bride and bridesmaids’ dresses 😍

Emerging trends for 2024…✨

While planning your wedding, you’ll likely have considered music for various aspects of the day - the drinks reception, the evening, your first dance and for walking down the aisle.

But did you know you can have live music in the ceremony itself? This can be not only for the entrance of the bridal party and exit of the couple, but also as a musical interlude during a 'warming of the wedding rings' or as a certificate is signed. I’ve seen an increase in singers, violinists, string quartets and harpists playing in ceremonies this year. It really adds something extra special to the ambience and by choosing their own musical backdrop, the couple add something of themselves to the ceremony - it doesn't have to be classical music! (although I love that too!) 🥰

I particularly admire and enjoy working with, India Rose Strings - a string quartet who specialise in providing beautiful, bespoke music for weddings and events. I’ve had the pleasure of coinciding with them multiple times at the gorgeous Thicket Priory - North Yorkshire Wedding Venue and other venues. They are a lovely group of people and their rich, sonorous sound just gives me goosebumps! 🎶

Emerging trends for 2024…✨

Another trend that I’ve seen more of this year is centred around the bridal party or wedding squad! We're seeing a shift towards inclusivity, and more importantly, ensuring those closest to you have a special role in your big day.

It’s lovely to see the lines of roles becoming blurred - say hello to a 'Bridesman', a 'Best Woman', or even a 'Man of Honour' as my daughter had back in 2019! Whether it's your best friend, sibling, or anyone who holds a special place in your heart, your wedding party can truly reflect the people who mean the most to you.

And for those who prefer to keep things simple, opting for no bridesmaids at all is also becoming a popular choice and it certainly helps to keep costs down.

Like with every other part of your special day, it’s all about creating a celebration that’s uniquely yours, filled with the people who mean the most to you and crafting a ceremony that truly reflects your personalities.

If you have any questions at all about how a Celebrant-led ceremony can be the opportunity to have your ceremony, your way, please just ask me - we can explore all your options to make the day true to you 💛

How time flies when you’re in love… 💕

I can’t quite believe it, but last month marked a year since Sophie and Stefan’s very special day at Camblesforth Hall. Their ceremony was touching, unique to them, and full of giggles too which was just lovely.

It was a truly wonderful day and marked my first ceremony at this stunning venue!

One of the wonderful perks of working in the wedding industry is not only the chance to recommend fantastic suppliers to couples, but also to bump into and work with them at multiple beautiful ceremonies over time!

Last month, I had the absolute pleasure of once again working with the lovely Katy Howe Photography at The Owl Barn, Little Seed Field.

Katy is such a joy to work with and is truly talented at what she does! I'd recommended Katy to the couple because her approach to capturing an event is unobtrusive, natural and sensitive. The brides happily took on my suggestion and were very happy to book her for their wedding day! 📸

It was wonderful to see her magic in action once more. Here's to many more ceremonies with wonderful professionals like Katy! 🥂

Emerging trends for 2024…✨

Another emerging trend that I’ve noticed more and more this year is confetti! I’ve recently seen a lot of confetti thrown as the couple walk down the aisle together after the ceremony – it’s always such a joyful moment and of course a wonderful photo opportunity.

There’s also the usual ‘flutter tunnel’ outside afterwards, just like this one at Hannah and Will’s gorgeous wedding at the stunning Thicket Priory!

I’ve seen white confetti, pastel-toned confetti and even dried flowers, which is a gorgeous and eco-friendly option 🌸

A brilliant supplier I’ve worked with and who I’d like to showcase is AlesandCocktails. Victoria and Adrian have a fantastic mobile bar and can tailor their service to your vision! Think glamorous welcome drinks and delicious after-ceremony cocktails - and they have child-friendly options too!

Plus, they are a very supportive partner supplier and they’re local to me! Check them out for your event! 🥂

Last month I shared stunning photos from Jemma and Jonnie’s dreamy outdoor wedding at Grantley Hall - the visuals and flowers were exceptionally beautiful.

It was an honour to perform a wedding ceremony for such a glamorous, warm and loving couple! And they were kind enough to leave me the following wonderful feedback:

“Jackie we just wanted to say a huge thank you for last week. We cannot thank you enough. You made our wedding ceremony so special. You wrote the most beautiful, structured romantic service and I loved working with you. Thank you for making the process so easy.

You spoke so eloquently and clear on the day considering it was an outdoor ceremony and we felt completely lost in the moment! It was just wonderful and you were so organised! Thank you for coming to our rehearsal as that really put our mind at ease and we knew what to expect with timings and positioning for everyone which was so helpful.

You were fantastic from start to finish! I would always recommend you as a celebrant and I can’t thank you enough for making our day so special.”

Thank you for your kind words and for entrusting me to craft a very personal, romantic and bespoke ceremony just for you 🥰

Hello July 👋

We’re halfway through 2024 already, can you believe it?

As wedding season is in full swing, I’ve noticed some trends emerging over the last 6 months from flowers and music to bride tribes and ceremony outfits!

To help you with the planning of your special day, I’ll be sharing some of these trends. You might get inspired!

Something I’ve recently seen a lot more of is grooms and groomsmen in tuxedos! Is this something you might consider? Typically, tuxedos are for more formal events while a suit might be a better choice if you're having a more casual wedding.

But, like all traditions, it’s all down to personal preference and traditions are just that, not rules! In my opinion, a tuxedo looks very dapper and is just a little more special than a suit!

FAQ: Is an Independent Celebrant-led wedding the right option for us?🤔

You’re starting to plan your wedding - congratulations! There will be many things on your mind as you enter this exciting time, one of which might be this question above.

There are many benefits to a celebrant-led wedding, many of which I share on my page, so do have a browse for ideas!

Independent Celebrant weddings can suit lots of different styles and couple requirements.

I think that they are perfect for couples who would like:

💛 A meaningful ceremony that can be non-religious or include a blessing if wished

💛 A wedding respecting the faith of a same-sex couple who can't have a church marriage

💛 To hold their ceremony outdoors or at a location that isn’t licensed for civil weddings

💛 A ceremony at any start time to suit their own timetable for the day, not a rota!

💛 Only one booking a day, so they can have any length of ceremony - no clock-watching!

💛 The flexibility to create a personal ceremony that is unique to them

💛 To create a ceremony that reflects the values, style and culture of the couple

💛 To really get to know and feel at ease with the person who will conduct their wedding

💛 To celebrate their marriage with family and friends but without legally registering – for example, when the formalities have already been conducted abroad or some time ago

If a Celebrant-led wedding sounds like a good option for you but you're not sure, or if you have any more questions, please drop me a message!
You can send me a DM or email [email protected] and I’ll be happy to arrange a chat 😊

Kind Words 💛

Earlier this month, I shared photos of and a snippet from Tom and Olivia’s gorgeous May wedding in the chapel at Thicket Priory.

The pair were an absolute pleasure to work with and it was a real honour to be a part of their celebrations. I received this lovely message from them following their special day:

“Tom and I just wanted to thank you so much for everything you did on Saturday! We had the best day of our lives and our ceremony was special and personal to us!!
Everyone was talking about how amazing the ceremony was afterwards and they were so right!! Thank you for being a special part of our wedding day 💕”

Not only that, I also got a touching message from Kay, Tom’s Mum too!

“I’m just texting to thank you so much for the service in the chapel for Tom and Olivia’s wedding last Saturday. We were completely blown away with your words and the way you delivered them. I think that must be one of the best wedding services we’ve ever been to, it was so personal and meaningful. It was a long service and it contained such a lot of information, a great mixture of happy and funny stories with an underlying seriousness too…..just perfect.
Heartfelt thanks once again for helping to make the wedding such a special occasion.”

Thank you all for your kind, kind words. It means the world to me to know that you and your loved ones were so thrilled with your ceremony! 🥰 *Blushing!

“Sometimes two souls are just meant to be.
All you need is that one person who understands you entirely,
who you can share your thoughts with, with trust and without judgement.”

A truly beautiful quote from Jemma and Jonnie’s wedding celebration ceremony last month. Their special day was grand and gorgeous, filled with total opulence and glamour!

Every single wedding ceremony script is unique to each couple I work with (unlike when I was a Registrar and knew big chunks of the wording off by heart because I repeated the same things so often!) Jemma and Jonnie had the opportunity to choose heartfelt and meaningful words to be included in their ceremony at the breathtaking Grantley Hall.

That's one of the beauties of a bespoke Celebrant-led ceremony 🥰

It was a wonderful day with a spectacular set up thanks to some amazing suppliers and I am so looking forward to being back at Grantley Hall for another wedding in August this year! I love working with the fabulous Olivia Fearon, the Wedding and Events Executive there and I'm so grateful for her recommendations of 'I Do' Your Ceremony to couples seeking a highly professional but very personal approach in a Celebrant.

There are many, many benefits to a Celebrant-led wedding ceremony, and they do involve more work than a standard church or drop down menu Registrar civil marriage service.

It definitely takes more time and thought to be involved in the design and contribute to the content of a truly bespoke Celebrant ceremony, but it’s well worth the effort to have the deeply personal end result! There is the added time taken to gather those guests who have an active role in the ceremony for a dressed down walkthrough on the eve of the ceremony if they're available (it's included in my celebrancy fee) - but the benefit is huge in settling your nerves and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the day.

Of course, I’ll be there every step of the way to guide you through the process and will do all the writing if you wish, or include as much input as you’d like to make. We will co-create a ceremony that reflects the two of you, what you value and your hopes for the future in a celebration of your love that is truly, uniquely yours 🥰

An added bonus is that most couples find the planning process interesting, romantic and fun too! For example, some of the most frequent feedback I receive from couples is that they had no idea a ceremony could be so personal and found reflecting on their love and reminiscing about their journey to their wedding day a very bonding thing to do.

If you have any questions at all, please do get in touch! I’d be happy to let you know more about the process! 😊

Francesca and Alex are simply gorgeous!

Their stunning ceremony at Thicket Priory last month was true to their personalities in that it was very funny, but also very sincere and moving 💕

The couple wrote their own personal vows secretly, so they were shared with each other for the very first time in the ceremony itself. It was very emotional and a truly beautiful moment!

Here are a few snippets from their vows to one another 🥰

“I will spend my lifetime admiring you, respecting you, and loving every part of you.
You truly are one of a kind,
and I am the luckiest woman in the world to be standing here today.
Loving you has been the easiest, most obvious thing I have ever done;
and I will continue to love you for the rest of eternity.”

“Love has given us wings and our new chapter begins.
You're everything that I ever dreamed of and everything I will ever need.
I never knew that love could be this beautiful until you came into my life.”

It’s such an honour to support a couple in expressing in words their deep love and devotion to one another on their big day, but there’s something extra-special about being there to support behind the scenes and help them write their own, truly heartfelt personal vows.

Would that be your choice, or would you prefer more traditional (and still lovely) vows? 💛

Well, hello June! Here’s to a month that is as much filled with love as May was 😍

It was another busy month, which was wonderful and the first wedding of May for ‘I Do’ Your ceremony was Olivia and Tom’s at my most local and favourite venue, Thicket Priory. It was just beautiful!

With all the ceremonies I write, every single script is unique to each couple. So, Olivia and Tom’s included wording that won’t have featured in any other wedding!

Here’s a touching quote they included, from the Bride’s perspective:

“Marriage means having your best friend by your side forever. Sharing a life and being a family, in whatever shape that forms. To cheer each other on, to be the light in the dark and to be a team, no matter what life brings. Marriage is sharing your hopes, dreams and fears and being completely yourself with each other. It’s giving each other a hug when you walk through the door after a long day and knowing that everything will be ok because you have each other.”

Marriage means something different to everyone. And that’s the beauty of a celebrant led ceremony; the ceremony and its content can be different for every couple too. I’ll help you to craft a bespoke script and ensure your ceremony is authentic to you!

Considering a tailored and bespoke ceremony as part of your day? My inbox is always open should you have any questions or just want to pick my brains! 📩

28/05/2024

One of the many advantages of a Celebrant-led wedding is that it can be held absolutely anywhere - with the landowner's permission, of course!

This means you have the freedom to choose somewhere that’s meaningful for you; it might be a venue you love, a place with a special story for you as a couple, or just somewhere with a gorgeous backdrop, regardless of whether it’s licensed for civil marriages or not.

You may be tempted to opt for an outdoor wedding, but if you’re unsure of the implications, here are a few considerations if you’re thinking of saying 'I do' under an open sky:

Outdoor ceremonies can come with beautiful ready-made backdrops, stunning natural light and more flexibility in terms of space, layout and guest count, meaning you can create your ideal setting. They can also offer a really special and unique feel.

But, there are cons to outdoor ceremonies too. There is a saying about the typical Yorkshire climate - 'If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes!' After all, we have very little control over the elements (not just rain, but wind, cold or blazing hot sunshine!) meaning there can be stressful uncertainty if you're wanting an outdoor ceremony and the weather is unsettled, as well as the need to consider things like wasps, traffic noise, furniture and guests with mobility issues.

The advantage of my ceremonies is that I come along for a dressed down rehearsal at your venue on the eve of your big day, when the weather forecast is more reliable. If it's still uncertain as to whether you'll opt for inside or outside, we'll walkthrough the ceremony in both your chosen outdoor setting and the wet day alternative under cover - so you can have a cut off time on the morning of your wedding when you can see what's really happening weather-wise! And either way, your nerves will be settled by having rehearsed your entrance, who is going to stand where and do what - all things that couples worry about leading up to their ceremony - sorted!! That's the beauty of a flexible, bespoke Celebrant-led ceremony!

Whether you're drawn to the romance of an outdoor setting or prefer the security of an indoor ceremony (with an outdoor drinks reception if the weather is kind), I’d love to chat and hear more about your plans for the special day - it will no doubt be wonderful!

Teamwork truly makes magic happen!

Did you know it’s not just me behind ‘I Do’ Your Ceremony? I’m lucky to work with my amazing business associate, Karen; it’s so lovely to have more capacity and work with more couples as a result 🥰

We first worked together 25 years ago and now we’re back together, both working in a whole new field and collaborating closely! It’s great for this fabulous lady to be my colleague again and we’ve been crazy, close friends all that time.

Thanks to Karen’s support, ‘I Do’ Your Ceremony has been able to expand and serve more beautiful couples over the past few years when Karen was their Celebrant on the big day as I was previously booked elsewhere. Karen also has a Celebrancy business in her own right in the Holmefirth area, so you can contact her on [email protected].

I do get booked up quite a while in advance so please do get in touch! And if I'm booked on your special day, no worries, I'd be thrilled to connect you with Karen, who's always ready to support and make your day just as magical.

It’s my absolute pleasure to play a role in countless couples' special days. I often look back and reflect on all the love stories I’ve been lucky to tell. Reading client reviews makes me smiley and warm knowing that you were pleased with how I took care to ensure you loved your wedding ceremony.

Looking back on feedback from previous years, here is a wonderful review from Jodie and Josh. Thank you both, it was an honour to be a part of your stylish, charming day in such a stunning location. I've been thrilled to be back at Woolas Barn this spring.

"Jackie was amazing from start to finish! She made us absolutely at ease from the first time we virtually met! Nothing was too much for Jackie and the service was absolutely perfect with her hosting. Everyone commented how unique, quirky and fantastic the ceremony was!"

Thanks for your kind words Jodie and Josh, I was thrilled to be your chosen Celebrant. 💛

Recently engaged and embarking on your wedding planning journey? How exciting! 😄

The journey ahead is full of wonder and questions, isn’t it? 🤔 From knowing where to start with suppliers, to creating a personal ceremony that is true to you, I’m here to help!

First things first, let me introduce myself in case you’re new to the work of an Independent Celebrant like myself and specifically to my own business, 'I Do' Your Ceremony…

I’m Jackie, a qualified, highly experienced, fully insured and mature Celebrant. I've gained a wealth of experience and contacts through crafting and performing hundreds of ceremonies. I will take great care to guide you through the process of us co-writing a wedding that is a perfect reflection of your personalities, values and style.

As part of my service, I will happily:

👋 Meet up with you (or have a zoom call) so we can begin to get to know each other. I will listen carefully to what you both want from the occasion and help you to frame your vision for the perfect ceremony for you

💭 Draw on my experience to share ideas, make content suggestions and give ceremony guidance. As a former Registrar, I can advise you on completing the legalities at minimal cost. Any symbolic elements you might like to include, like a handtying are all included in my fee

✍ Create a unique ceremony written especially for you, welcoming your input, so we can celebrate your love and tell your story as a couple

📝 Take on your feedback to edit the script in response to your wishes

😊 Ease those pre-ceremony jitters with a dressed-down walkthrough rehearsal at the venue (usually on the eve of your big day), which is included in my fee

📜 Present you with a certificate to sign during the ceremony and provide a presentation copy of the final script as a lovely keepsake

🥰 Be there every step of the way to help settle your nerves, provide sound advice, embrace your ideas - and share in your growing excitement as your special day approaches!

If you're looking for something different, personal and unique to you, please get in touch.
I'd love to chat about what you have in mind!

Just drop me a message or email me at [email protected] 😊

Feedback means so much to us as suppliers who put their heart and soul into achieving the perfect end result for each individual couple 🥰

Just take a look at this amazing review I recently received from Emma and Zach following their gorgeous wedding at the stunning Oakwood at Ryther in February!

“We're so pleased we chose Jackie as our celebrant for our wedding day. Jackie made the whole planning process smooth and fun which is exactly what we needed. Right from our first introduction call we trusted she had everything in hand so we wouldn't need to worry - and she absolutely did.

Jackie helped us create a ceremony which was perfect and personal to us - all of our guests came up to us after to say how amazing the ceremony was, how it was their favourite part of the day and there were definitely a few tears shed by each! We'd recommend Jackie to anyone who's looking for a celebrant for their wedding day, 5 stars isn't enough. Thank you so much.”

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Emma and Zach, and to every couple who leaves me a review, for taking the time to write such lovely, heartwarming words! 💛

‘I Do’ Your Ceremony, your way! Professional. Caring. Inclusive.

Hi, I’m Jackie an experienced, (ex-Registrar) Independent Celebrant based in North Yorkshire and happy to travel to much of the north of England. I simply love meeting people to learn about your unique story and dreams for your perfect day.

I specialise in crafting original, deeply personal ceremonies which I then perform in a highly engaging way at a time and place entirely of your choosing (in the case of a wedding, the venue doesn’t have to be licensed for civil marriages). You can have as much or little input as you wish into the design of your ceremony and I have many ideas to inspire you! I offer a dressed down rehearsal with key people to walk through the ceremony to settle the nerves, so you can truly relax and enjoy your awesome big day. It really is your ceremony, your way!

See my website www.IDoYourCeremony.com to learn more or send me a direct message - we can arrange a chat over a coffee and get planning!

Specialising in Wedding Ceremony, Commitment Ceremony, Elopement, Handfasting, Renewal of Vows, Baby Naming or Welcome to the Family Ceremony.
