Despite last week's setbacks, we are pushing forward with all the things!
Over the weekend, we were able to start transforming the store into all things Christmas!! 🎄✨️
We've still got a few things to organize and set up, but it's looking pretty good in here so far! You should come see for yourself 👀

Welp... That was a week! 🥴
Not our typical post today, as we have been through it, and for the sake of transparency, we want to share this aspect of running a small business with you... even if it isn't so flashy and happy.
From a leaking roof, windy adventures, a sick kid, computer, and tech issues to rounding out the chaos with a fire! 😬 This store and I have had a wild one.
This is the ugly truth about owning your own business and the building that houses your hopes and dreams. We have to roll with the punches and pivot on a dime (or, in our case, at the first sign of flames).
To be honest, it's disheartening and frustrating beyond measure. Ultimately, repairs and expenses like this cut into our profit margin and directly affect our livlihood and what we can bring to you. When the market has been slow and more focused online, this is not what we wanted.
No, it's not all about money, but the sad truth is, without the money, we can't do what we love to do!
With some hefty bills on the horizon (a new roof and repair work needed), we will be working harder than ever before to keep what we offer to you as unchanged as possible. But there may be a few more empty spaces on the shelf as we rebuild and repair.
A very huge heartfelt thank you to my parents, family/friends & my staff for helping me through and keeping me sane. 💗🫶
And thank you to you! 💗 For coming out regardless of the chaos and supporting! That is the biggest thing you can do for us right now!
I appreciate your patience as we work through some kinks. And sincere apologies to those of you present during the commotion. Your unwavering support is so appreciated. 💗

🎄✨️ WILD ROOTS CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL ✨️🎄
This year, we have teamed up with the Burns Lake Public Library and the Lakes Literacy to bring you even more fun activities!! 🤩
Both groups will be set up in the Heritage Church offering seniors crafts, kids crafts as well as story reading, along with a few other surprises 😉
They will be set up for the duration of the festival (6 to 9pm).
We are really excited to have these groups here with us this year! We hope you are too!!

A brief explanation of who & why...
Really quick summary here: I was born and raised in Burns Lake started working in the local flower store part time, moved to Calgary for post secondary & continued to work with flowers part time, took a course in Toronto at the Canadian Institute of Floral Design, did flowers full time. Moved to Kamloops started my wedding business. Moved home to Burns Lake.
And the fluffy stuff in between: It took me a while to figure out that I could take my love of all things non-office job and make a career out of it. I knew I was a creative person, I knew I didn’t want to sit in an office or classroom all day and I knew I was better at the hands on stuff. Plus I like pretty things. Flowers had always been there as a part time job for me, and when I realized I LOVED my part time job and hated the full time one, I knew I should do something about it. So I took a course and there was no going back! I hadn’t ever considered switching out a paint brush for a flower and when I did it, and did it seriously my world changed.
Calgary showed me that there is so much more to the floral industry than I knew and gave me a whole lot of experience. I was able to take the lead and have a taste of what it would be like to own my own business, I was able to get to know some really great people and share in their experiences & talents. Eventually, I knew, Calgary was not BC and clearly, I needed to be back in BC. Enter, Kamloops - AMAZING! I met some people that inspired me beyond what I knew was possible and re-installed my passion. I started my business in Kamloops and was so humbled that people were booking me. Thank you for that. You gave me the courage to keep going and follow the dream.
Then comes Burns Lake, when the man that you love gets the opportunity of a lifetime - ya gotta go! So here we are and I am super excited! Back in the home town, rediscovering and settling in. It is refreshing and comforting to come home, seeing how some things change and some never do.
I’m excited to announce the opening of my very own shop! Wild Roots Flowers & Gifts has been a dream that I never believed was possible, and it truly wouldn’t be without my amazing family and friends and this amazing community that has been nothing but supportive of my new adventures!
I am located on #101-1st Avenue and patiently waiting for my chance to show you what I can do! Flowers will always be my first love and I look forward to sharing my passion with all of you! I hope you’ll consider me when planning your celebrations or just want to surprise a loved one with something special! Come talk flowers with me!
