Introducing our headliner for tonight’s show:

Forgoing electronic music’s inherent heaviness for a spiritualized serenity and elegant songcraft, Skysia fuses elements of melodic bass, experimental bass, and modern downtempo into a euphonious sound. The producer/composer often reveals a minimalist, deliciously danceable style; his translucent low-end theory is rich in musicality and steeped in dreamy psychedelia. Born Tanner Allen, Skysia is a self-taught pianist, filmmaker, and production wizard; formerly based in Southern California, these days he lives in a converted mini-school bus - complete with a mobile studio, crafting sound art while perpetually immersed in nature. Skysia mines earthy textures and unveils emotive tones, sonically expressing the delicate balance between darkness and light. His crisp, clear compositions invoke the beautiful and deep, humbly channeled through organic bass music.
Drawing inspiration from global dancefloor pioneers like Bonobo and CloZee. Before embarking on a musical journey on the West Coast scene, Allen studied production techniques at the esteemed Point Blank Music School in London.

Artist Spotlight!

Kaimera’s passion for musical arts began at a very young age while residing in the East Bay, California. Her journey DJing and producing music took flight once she found herself over the hill in Santa Cruz, California. She showcases a variety of genres that include deep dub, glitch hop, tribal house, electro bass jazz and more.

Kaimera cultivates a healing experience of the mind, body, and soul by dynamically tapping into the energy of her audience and taking them on a layered and progressive musical journey. She is inspired by artists such as ATYYA, Desert Dwellers, Peace Sine, Dirtwire, The Widdler, Tash Sultana, and CharlestheFirst. Her goal is to continue to grow and improve her ability to translate emotion into sound.

Kaimera has performed at multiple events in the Santa Cruz County and has been offered bookings throughtout Northern California. Kaimera’s most notable work to date is her mix “the dream chase,” which received over 2,000 listens within 3 days of release. She is currently working on her first EP with expected a publication by December 2023.

We seriously can’t wait to see Kai kick off an EPIC night of dance and music in just a few short days!

In less then 24 hours, we will be embracing on an unforgettable journey together and we couldn’t be more excited to share with you what many will experience.

We also will be deploying a Hennessey x custom Labhorn sound rig unlike The Midway has ever seen. It will literally be a first of its kind system at this venue and similar to the system we had at Bass Brunch last year.

Out Of Office #15 in San Francisco : .mnk + .audio + +

In just a few short weeks we’ve got BIG ole business planned spearheaded by UK heavyweight HYPHO making his triumphant return to the city to bless our sound system and dance floor with some seriously proper bass weight artillery.

Athena (coming all the way from Baltimore, MD for her California DEBUT!) and Shortcvke from San diego will be gracing us with their presence holding it down for our favorites

It’s also about time that we finally brought out our good friend Dubreaper who’ll be dealing his classic dubstep sound. Mans is seriously talented and we can’t wait to hear his seismic original productions as nature intended!

We’re doing things a bit differently this time around and are going LATE from 11pm - 4am! There’s a massive Hamdi show down the road at Midway the same evening so make sure to add this shindig to your Afters plans if your going to that.

As always, with the Out of Office events: in a warehouse space, movement performers, live painters and local vendors!

is the ever-evolving multi-genre bass music producer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania creating gossamer compositions that range from dubstep and trap, to melodic beats and lo-fi. A skilled musician, Lavier got his start at a young age with piano and guitar and played in multiple live groups throughout his teen years and early twenties. Electronic music production came about in his late teens, when a close friend showed him artists that would stir him to begin producing his complex sound. Countless hours of delving into the sounds of underground bass music influence his heavier cuts, while his years spent playing musical instruments fuel his more jazz-influenced melodic work. This is dichotomous to his off-kilter bass music, which has drawn comparisons to inspirations like Ivy Lab and Eprom.

Writing, mixing, and mastering music, creating visual art, and performing live is all in a day’s work for this hands-on artist. The Pittsburgh native has shared the decks with a wide variety of artists, including Lotus, Ternion Sound, The Widdler, Seppa, DMVU, EazyBaked, and many others. On top of his growing list of past notable performances, Lavier pumps out new music at a prolific rate and his releases have seen support from the likes of Street Ritual, Of The Trees, and Tripp St, and publications such as Heard It Here First, FUXWITHIT, MOON LVNDING, and Saint Audio. The producer looks forward to an action packed 2022 with several new tracks recently released and many more in the works. He also looks forward to connecting with live audiences in new places.

Presenting a truly mental audio concoction for our fast approaching March 9th Out of Office! We have rude intentions (in the best type of way) for this show and have curated perhaps our heftiest line-up to date to match!

Serious seismic bassweight activity will be accompanying our headliners & who are primed to absolutely LEVEL the DanzHaus while inciting the dancefloor just like we like it 😈

We’re especially gassed to be joined by special guest .fml coming all the way from Asheville, NC to contribute to the madness. Big ups to tastemaker and collaborator for helping make this insane addition happen!

Kicking the night off in proper fashion, we’re poised to welcome our good friend and sonic architect who is loaded up with dubs and is absolutely and not to be missed.

Our first two events of the year have been utterly inspiring! On Saturday March 2nd, we’ll be budding into the house/disco scene in collaboration with our good friend, , to host a special iteration of the esteemed “Starfari & Friends” showcase taking place at !

Though most know us for our bass music/dubstep gatherings, as lovers of all music, we’ve always felt strongly about expanding into and promoting other genres & communities in our richly diverse Bay Area stomping grounds.

Despite the BPM change, our intentional, community focused, production ideology will remain at the forefront of every Thematic event. By focusing on cultivating a signature “vibe”, we strive to curate events which can bridge genre barriers and appeal to a wider audience, all while maintaining a warm and welcoming community feel. Through this, we hope to help catalyze growth in each scene we participate in through organic cross pollination of music/dance lovers from all walks of life!

This event also doubles as a celebration of Starfari’s birthday so you know energy levels will be amplified all evening long!

Artist Appreciation: APHTA

Out of Office #13: Malakai, Phurn, Sleepmode & Aphta

After releasing 6 singles under his own name from 2019-20, Justin Sandoval continued releasing his unique strain of hip-hop influenced electronic music under the name APHTA beginning in October of 2020. Since then he has put out 26 singles, 4 collabs, and 3 remixes, along with 12 music videos, creating all of the visuals and cover artwork himself.

The name APHTA represents the quest for beauty and meaning through artistic expression, looking toward the future to examine the question of what we can leave for the world after we’re gone. Encompassing both a musical style and a visual aesthetic, APHTA combines trap and future beats with jazz, classical, Latin and other world music, evoking psychedelia, sound system culture, and the SoundCloud producer golden era.

His music has been shared on playlists including those of Shivelight, High Vibe Records, and Topsify’s Spotlight AAPI Heritage Artists, and has been featured on music outlets including EDMHunters, Last Day Deaf, and Night Swim Radio. His song “Feel The Flame” with augie stacks. was featured on episode 6 of LAist Studios’ podcast Snooze.

He has produced and mixed music for various artists, including Kool A.D., CaneliBeat, Manu Duran, JOATA, Lord Ro, andrésio, augie stacks., Micha D., HYDRAULICS23 and more. He has also had his work sampled by other artists, most notably his track “Trophy” in the song “Firmament (A l’envers)” by Dypsa, a Belgian artist. While in New York, he received his Master’s degree in Music Technology and assisted at the studio of mixing engineer Pablo San Martin and for the bassist Jerry Barnes. He plays piano and saxophone in addition to DJ’ing.

Upon realizing 4/20 lands on a Saturday this year, we started baking up a special event to take advantage of this rare opportunity and are thrilled to unveil our “Bass & Blunts” party!

We’re taking over the Midway patio from 2pm - 9pm for an afternoon/evening of carefully curated music and performance for our beloved community. This billing places emphasis on outside the box producers, many of whom weave live vocal/instrumental components into their sets.

Headlining the evening is the one and only ! Nobody combines hard hitting bass lines with tasteful viloninistry like this forward thinking producer/instrumentalist!

He absolutely slayed his performances while supporting ’s SF run a couple months back and is now armed with a new EP representing a whole new level of his already renowned project.

We’re honored to be hosting the SF tour stop of his nationwide “Taking It All In 2024 Tour”!

On direct support duties we’re ecstatic to welcome to the party! Hailing from the rural mountains of Vermont, McWavy has cornered a “Future Jazz” sound that is squarely unique to her! Incorporating live vocals and multiple instruments to the equation, expect a sound and performance style that’s unlike any other!

Vibes will be HIGH for the whole event thanks to the sounds of our good friends and sonic wizards & as well as the multi-talented & Cidari

We’re bringing in all our own sound for this too, combining the HSD rig with ’s lab horns for crispy clean immersive sound. If you were at our “Bass Brunch” fest then you know the drill!

Coupled with movement performance, live painting, and vending this is slated to be a 4/20 extravaganza for the books!

We’re still positively glowing from this past Saturday and are teeming with anticipation to announce our next Out of Office gathering!

For this show, we’re deviating from our normal 2nd Saturday format and will be reuniting on the 17th of February this time around so please keep this in mind!

Headlining the evening is the esteemed out of Brooklyn, NY joining us to bring his cutting edge instrumental focused electronic production to our wanting ears.

On direct support duties, we can’t wait to host the SF debut of coming in HOT from Colorado. Expect deep bass lines and ethereal frequencies from this rising star in the scene.

We’ll also be joined by along with the homie who’ll be gracing us with their presence and amazing original productions. This billing is loaded with juicy talent that’s not to be missed!

Wow!! This past Saturday was unforgettable. We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to see the community come out strong, in the rain, and pack out the DanzHaus with such warm and wild vibes.

ARTIST APPRECIATION: .jorris.music

Jesse Orris, stage moniker huck.jorris, and apart of the collective, was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado. While earning a degree in mechanical engineering, he discovered ways to combine his classical musical training with in-depth knowledge of waveform behavior and creation.

Huck has found his niche in melodic, symphonic movements of experimental sound, taking inspiration from hip-hop, deep dub, trap, and downtempo influences.

ARTIST APPRECIATION:

aka Josh Kipersztok approaches alternative electronic music with the touch of a trained jazz musician and the precision of an audio engineering professional. He is, in fact, both of these things. From glitch hop to downtempo, Smigonaut’s brand of bass music stands - or rather swings - out from the pack. Swaggering from the speaker stacks his music strikes a balance between the experimental and the accessible. He produces low-down, left-field neuro bass, but couches it in familiar jazzy frameworks.

Originally hailing from Seattle, Washington, Josh learned to play instruments early in life. His great familiarity with note relationships adds dimension to his music that few producers on the electronic airwaves can mirror. With the right scale he’ll pull deep emotions from the audience. In the next bar, he’ll brighten the dance floor by dangling from note to note like a trapeze artist. Josh cultivated these skills, versed himself in music technology, and developed a professional approach to composition as a student at Berklee College of Music. As a post grad, he began flexing sound systems from New York City to Portland, Oregon and hasn’t looked back. Today he’s a mainstay on lineups at major music festivals and curated club nights throughout the Northeastern US.

He’s released with labels like Street Ritual, Night Owl Collective, and VALE. He’s collaborated with kindred spirits like Jade Cicada and DeeZ, even playing the guitar on a track from this latter artist. With his Constructs EP, released in December 2017, Josh puzzles together the sultriest swing and the dirtiest bass to create a cohesive work. Thematically, the EP touches upon the prevalence of social constructs. For his part, in life and music, Smigonaut continues to unravel these constructs and create his own unique vision in their place.
