We are excited to invite artists working in various mediums to submit works of art for participation in the Back to the Roots Festival.

🟢 Our festival advocates for a fundamental shift in how we interact with our planet and its inhabitants, emphasizing the beauty of the natural world and the profound connection between humans and nature.

🟣 We encourage artists to explore the theme of "returning to the roots" and share their interpretation through the medium that resonates most with them.

🟠 Selected artworks will be displayed in our Art Forest during the festival on November 2, where we unite not only to heal and restore what has been lost but also to learn, grow, and reconnect with nature.

🌿 Hey friends! With fires raging in Cyprus, tree planting and forest restoration projects are more important than ever. 🌲

BUT it's crucial to understand that tree planting is not just about sticking a tree in the ground. Proper planting involves several key steps:

🌱 Choosing the right plants for the specific area (some plants can be toxic to bees and humans).
🌱 Selecting the correct planting method (alternating plants, creating mini-forests).
🌱 Planting the tree at the correct depth.
🌱 Fertilizing the soil.
🌱 Organizing proper watering.
🌱 Caring for the plants post-planting for the coming months.

🌿🎉 Celebrating ECOmbare's First Anniversary! 🎉🌿

What a year it’s been! Over the past 12 months, we’ve:

🌳 Planted over 1200 trees
🏡 Completed 2 village restoration projects
🐝 Launched a bee hotel construction initiative
📚 Delivered around a dozen lectures on mindful consumption in Cyprus and Italy
❓ Created an eco-quiz in Greek, English and Russian
🌾 Hosted CSR events supporting local farmers
👧👦 Started educational programs for children

But most importantly, we did it all with joy, an open heart, and a genuine desire to connect people with the nature and culture of Cyprus. Our journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of municipalities, local residents, Cypriot businesses, talented masters, and dedicated volunteers.

🐝FROM IDEA TO REALITY🐝

On our way to launch our projects to help the fire-affected villages of Cyprus, we met a wonderful person, Pete Gallagher a crafter from the village of Layia. Pete possesses unique knowledge about solitary bees and ways to support their life. Together with Pete, we created our first bee hotels and wanted to spread this knowledge further 💚

A question arose: how to scale up the crafting of bee hotels when events we organize involve a large number of people? We consulted with Dr. Andri Varnava from TEPAK University. As Dr. Andri is a scientist specialising in studying and researching solitary bees, she helped us understand what materials to use in the construction of our bee hotels, as well as those bee hotels should not only be built once and for all but also constantly maintained🛠️

Together with our friend and master from , we created a unique hotel design that is assembled like a puzzle and can have any size and shape, attracting a large number of people to participate in its assembly.

The final construction turned out to be quite heavy though. That's when it became clear that the hotel needed a foundation, as well as metal fasteners to stabilize it during winds. took on the development of the design, creating a unique fastening system.

So we built our first bee hotel, naming it the "Pete Gallagher Mansion" in honor of our teacher, master, and inspiration - Pete from the village of Layia.

Hello Friends! 💚

On April 21st, we had our first event from the Revive a Village series. These events are all about helping villages, preserving their traditions and cultural heritage, bringing people together, and sharing the unique history of Cyprus.

For our debut event, we chose the village of Odou, famed for its honey production. In 2021, this village suffered from a severe fire, but now it's recovering both economically and in terms of developing agro-tourism.

That's why ECOmbare, and , with the collaboration of our partnering companies and UniversalLife, organized and sponsored a meaningful CSR project.

More than 200 participants lent a hand in this impactful action! Here’s a sneak peek at what we achieved ♻️:

▪︎ REVIVE THE VILLAGE - THE STORY OF A WALL ▪︎

"If you can do it as shown in this sketch, I'll personally award you honorary medals," said the mayor of Odou village - .f , smiling playfully.

We stood by the supporting wall at the entrance to the Odou village. The wall was old, worn-out, "adorned" with names of those who quietly came here to add a bit more color to the concrete grayness.

"We'd really like the mural to be about bees and honey production, as that's what our village is famous for," clarified Mellios.

However, our task wasn't just about the mural concept but also about its creation process. On the event day, we had about 200 participants, 15 of whom had to create a beautiful mural within 3 hours. Some of them didn't know how to draw.

Our artist, Alex Radtke, just smiled at the challenge and said, "Got it, you'll be satisfied."

And off we went!...

He created a sketch on the wall, considering the peculiarities of the concrete structure and its defects, distributed brushes, rollers, and spray cans to the participants, and assigned responsible roles to ensure that the work progressed smoothly, considering all stages of painting.

And we just watched as a new masterpiece emerged from chaos, one that would adorn the village of Odou for years to come.

We have some exciting news to share 🐝

ECOmbare, BrainRocket, and WeDoSupport, in collaboration with our partnering companies Quadcode, Universal Life, and others, are heading to Odou, a village massively affected by the 2021 fires.

Our goal is to offer our help to beautify and revitalize the area with impactful activities. To achieve that, our beloved employees will collaborate with the village's locals and youth center members, showcasing our common love for the island and its beautiful villages.

Hey Friends!

While we might grumble about the rainy and windy Cyprus winter, look around – everything is lush and green, almost like New Zealand 😉🌳🤌

Now is the best time to plant trees so that we don't choke on dust and melt under the summer sun without a shady escape 🫠 Your helping hands are needed!

One cool project we are supporting is LIFE AgrOassis, funded by the European Union. We're planting trees to restore green zones on degraded agricultural land.

During the tree planting, deep-rooted plants specially adapted to drought will be used for the first time. The measure aims to tackle desertification and mitigate the effects of climate change on Cyprus’ agricultural land by using plants that have developed a deep-root system in tubes, in order to minimize the need for watering and to be adapted to drought.

The upcoming planting dates are February 9, 10, 17, and 18 in Denia village. Come join us with your friends 🫶🏻 (this project is for adults only, and you need to sign up beforehand).

Here at ECOmbare, we create Eco Team Building activities full of fun, strategy, and many sustainable twists. But how does it all come together? 👇

This time we had the opportunity to work with the amazing eTorians by designing a series of games where participants took on various roles, earning points for their teams. Since most of our games took place in the water, we opted for Poseidonia Watersports as the coolest epicentre of our team-building activities. And guess what? We used the most unexpected items to challenge participants! 🤯

There were t-shirts that had to be passed lightning-fast in the water, pink flamingos to catch with hula-hoops, and tin cans to collect blindfolded. Oh boy, it was a blast!💥

At the end of this team building session, the top 3 teams received stylish gifts from ECOmbare and unique custom made t-shirts. And of course, we had a lively party with music and delicious bites from our friends at CatchEat. 🍕

Now, you might be wondering, "What made this event sustainable?" Well, we made sure that everything used could be reused or recycled after the event! ♻️

1. Did you know that used tin cans can be donated in designated areas and help to equip children’s hospital? That’s exactly what we did by donating tin cans we gathered to the organisation Cans For Kids. (Cans For Kids)

2. Did you that used/unneeded clothing can be donated to people who need it more than we do? That’s right, the t-shirts we used at the event were washed, dried, ironed and found a new home at PASYKAF for families of cancer patients in need. (pasykaf.org/en/fundraising/)

3. What about the flamingos and hula hoops you might ask! Sometimes we are excited of buying toys and other stuff and once we feel we had enough of them, we just throw them away. But hey, those flamingos and hoops show us that they can be part of so many other games so save your old toys and become creative with them. So many more games can be played with them!

Creating an eco-event company wasn't a coincidence for Mario Polymniou and me. It was like a persistent vision itching in our minds, aiming to unite diverse communities through the preservation of Cyprus' natural and cultural heritage.

I've learned that the broader your vision, the more people join, finding their unique roles to achieve a common goal.

Recently, we partnered with a honey festival in the village of Odou Village. Alongside Cyprus Tourism Department, Austrian cultural heritage representatives, a Youth Center, and many successful businesses, we highlighted the vital role of bees in pollinating plants and sustaining life on the island.

Just two years ago, Odou suffered a devastating fire, claiming not only plants and stored honey but also beehives with their occupants.

Now, as the village regains life, we, along with our friends from Όρος Μαχαιρά, have designed a unique corporate event for both kids and adults, focusing on bee education, crafting special Bee Hotels for solitary bees, and producing eco-friendly packaging from beeswax.

Recently, during an HR Cynergy meeting, we discussed enhancing employee Well-being. Many employees in Cypriot companies relocated from big cities to our island, where life is quite different. 🌆

Often, you'll hear that Cyprus is just a village. Life here seems simple, and in some ways, even primitive. But many of those who've come to the island from other countries also hail from villages. They hold their roots dear and cherish fond memories. What's the secret? 🧐

It lies in the fact that a person begins to truly appreciate the land only when they've worked on it or got to know its culture. It's as if, in exchange for their effort and time, they gain a sense of CONNECTION. The very thing so many of us are searching for. 🌱

🍽️ Τελειώνοντας, δεν θα μπορούσαμε να μην αναπληρώσουμε όλη αυτή την ενέργεια που οι μαθητές μας έδωσαν γι’αυτό τον όμορφο σκοπό. Έτσι ανταμείψαμε όλους μας τους συμμετέχοντες με ένα πλούσιο μπουφέ φαγητού, δροσιστικών ροφημάτων αλλά και παγωτού.😋🍦

🌟✨ Wrike Team Revives a Village! ✨🌟 At the end of May, we had an awesome "Revive the Village" event with the amazing people from Wrike company. Nearly 200 people came together in a beautiful mandarin village Arakapas to help out, share love, and spread good vibes with the locals. Kids and adults teamed up to: 🌳 Plant trees and aromatic herbs at the viewpoint 🎨 Paint a vibrant mandarin mural on the village walls 🖌️ Make ceramic figures to decorate the main square 🐝 Build a cozy bee hotel The day was packed with fun quizzes, village games, BBQ, and chill time in nature while learning about the village's history. The Wrike team had a blast, spending time in a meaningful way and getting a taste of Cypriot culture through these cool CSR activities. Hi ECOmbare! 😎 A huge shoutout to @alphatvcyprus for the insightful coverage of our Revive a Village event held in late April in the village of Odou, alongside with @brain_rocket_ @bro_socialclub and our partner companies @quadcode_life, @wedosupport_official, @universal_life_cyprus and @kpmg_cyprus. Together with the Odou Youth Center (@kentro_neotitas_odou), local residents and the Mayor, @menelaos.f we spent a day engaging in activities such as creating a bee hotel, trail cleanup, building a pergola and a wooden bench for the viewpoint, a water fountain, crafted an eco-mural and decorated the main square with custom ceramic figurines.
