14/09/2020

Hey Bombers! Don't forget, no Quiz this Tuesday (9/15); but we'll be back with our big Virtual Quiz XXV on Tuesday, September 22! 💣

13/08/2020

Virtual Quiz XX is in the books! Congrats to the Champs, "The Quads (Minus One)," who took the Cup for the second time! Outstanding job also by "Diablitos" and "The Ringers;" who needed a bonus question to settle 2nd place -- and even that was pretty close! Diablitos called upon their Dark Lord to come within 126 of correctly guessing the official capacity of Citizen's Bank Park; but The Ringers were only about 500 off. Of course, right now the capacity is zero...but not so with Quiz Bomb's Virtual Quizzes -- we're lettin' everybody in!

Special thanks to everyone who filled the Virtual Tip Jar -- your generosity is appreciated! Now we can buy some harder questions. 🤪

1. The Quads (Minus One) (89) 🏆
2. Diablitos (88)*
3. The RIngers (88)
4. Trebek's Rejects (85)
5. Quiz Queens (81)
6. Kitten Caboodle (80)
7. Comfortably Dumb (74)
8. The Q Crew (53)
* Won Tie-Breaker Question

Hope to see everyone next Tuesday!

Today marks the 75th Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall survived the blast (ironically, because it occurred almost directly above it), to be preserved as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. It is also commonly called the Genbaku Dome; which is Japanese for what?

All hail "Trebek's Rejects!" It's been a loooong time since we celebrated any other Champion; because "The Ringers" were on a streak that will never be equaled -- an incredible EIGHT wins in a row! But even the most impressive streaks will invariably, inevitably, come to an end. It took a Tie-Breaker Round to do it; but the Rejects came out on top to take the Cup for the 7th time in their career. That's #2 on the all-time list! But The Ringers are at 17... 😆

It took a tie-breaker to settle 3rd Place as well; with awesome efforts turned in by both "The Quads (Minus One)" and "Quiz Queens." Special mention also goes out to newcomers, "Diablitos," who had a great 80+ point effort to round out the Top 5. Overall, a great job by all of our teams, as always!

Next week is a big one -- Virtual Quiz XX!! How we got from "Two weeks to flatten the curve," to 20+ weeks of Virtual Quizzes, we'll never know; but here we are, so let's celebrate!

1. Trebek's Rejects (90)* 🏆
2. The Ringers (90)
3. The Quads (Minus One) (85)**
4. Quiz Queens (85)
5. Diablitos (84)
6. Kitten Caboodle (77)
7. Comfortably Dumb (75)
8. The Q Crew (60)

Hope to see you for our big, "XX" celebration next week!

"Well, Mr. Marshall mentioned that he would like society to be protected from someone like me. Looking back on my life I would have liked it if society had protected me from myself. That's all I have to say at this time." That was the statement made by this man, when he was convicted of shooting George Wallace, 48 years ago today.

General agreement that last night's Quiz was definitely on the tougher side -- maybe the most challenging we've had so far! Had to wait all the way till Round 5 for our first perfect round scores; and they were few and far between. But once again, despite tough challenges from "The Quads (Minus One)" and the combined forces of "Comfortably Trebek," "The Ringers" saved their best for last with a doubled, perfect Round 7 to take the Cup yet again -- a winning streak that already can probably never be equaled; and still going!

A cool Quiz highlight was that our Bonus Points were spread out among five different teams, for the first time ever, I think. Equality! (Except for the 2 teams that didn't get one...)

1. The Ringers (85) 🏆
2. Comfortably Trebek (81)
3. The Quads (Minus One) (77)
4. Quiz Queens (73)
5. Kitten Caboodle (72)
6. Larry's A (70)
7. The Q Crew (65)

Virtual Quiz XVII is in the books; and man, "The Ringers" just keep rolling along. Every week a challenger emerges to take them down to the very end; but every week, by a point or two, they find a way to get it done -- seven weeks in a row now! This week's #1 Contender was "The Quads," who led for most of the Quiz until they were undone by a 6/8 in the Movie Round (not that that's too shabby!) But those two points were this week's difference.

Great job in 3rd place by "The Klimts;" and welcome back to most of that team, who'd been away for a few weeks! Rounding out the Top 5 with their usual fine effort were "Comfortably Dumb," and "Kitten Caboodle" -- but another great Quiz turned in by all of our teams!

Hope to see you all next week!

1. The Ringers (90) 🏆
2. The Quads (88)
3. The Klimts (84)
4. (Tie) Comfortably Dumb; Kitten Caboodle (83)
6. Trebek's Rejects (82)
7. Quiz Queens (80)
8. The Q Crew (67)
9. Larry's A (54)
