Good morning folks. I have a question...ARE CONCERT REVIEWS RELEVANT TO YOU? We post a lot of them at The 13th Floor...some beauties over the weekend from Mel Parsons and Kerryn Fields and Matt Joe Gow along with lots of international artists...big and small. BUT...I'm wondering...if you find them remotely interesting, or are we just pi***ng in the wind? I want to hear from you whether you are an artist, a label, a manager, a promoter, a publicist or, mostly, if you are a music fan! Please comment below so we can know what's important to you. Maybe we should concentrate on album reviews? Interviews? or just find something else to do with our spare time!

It was another wild weekend at 13th Floor/Symonds Ct. Blues rockers The Dirty Tones celebrated the release of their new album, titled Sweet Thang, with an invite-only showcase featuring live performances by the band along with The Rvmes and Ema l'u and there were cupcakes! The day before found us hosting a 60th birthday party and a bit earlier in the week Floral Clocks stopped in to rehearse, getting ready for their Here Come The Songs! tour with 3 dates happening here June 7,8 & 9. We were in the pink this weekend as the venue hosted a Pink Ribbon Charity Event on Sunday featuring stand-up comedy, raffles and prizes, food and drink and lots of pink balloons. This just a day after a fab 50s birthday bash filled the room.

How was your weekend? We here at 13th Floor/Symonds Court are used to supporting up and coming musicians but on Saturday we hosted an event by Deganz, or Directors and Editors Guild
of Aotearoa New Zealand, supporting local filmmakers. The writer/directors of The Paragon () Shut Eye ( ) and Loop Track () shared their experiences on Low Budget Feature Filmmaking. Of course we haven't forgotten about the music, and on Sunday, Christchurch-based folk singer Amiria Grenell stopped in for a video session before her gig at Frieda Margolis. Happy New Zealand Music Month! Seems like the perfect time to update you on what's happening at The 13th Floor/Symonds Court/Lead Lounge (we keep adding names!) Since we last spoke there's been a wedding here, a video shoot and another Breaking Sound Session featuring 6 up-and coming NZ artists. It was another big weekend at 13th Floor/Symonds Court!. Friday night we hosted Oni Kidman and her dad Rikki Morris as they performed new music for a full house. Then on Saturday it was a family affair as the husband and wife duo known as Aro previewed their brand new album in front of another full house that included both of their children. The photos tell the story. Lots happening at Symonds Court/13th Floor Venue. We had a video crew in all day Saturday shooting interviews for an upcoming documentary. Subject is hush-hush at the moment, but promises to be important topic.
Then on Sunday we hosted a Breaking Sounds Acoustic show...7 acts, 70 tickets sold...from 2-5 pm. As you can see from the photos, the vibe was just right. Got another one happening next month.
