Andy McGrath our international coming all the way from England has books available, check them out.
In preparation for our upcoming podcast we’re hi-lighting the books of Andy Mcgrath creator of the “Beastly Theories” podcast and author of “Beasts of Britain” and “Beasts of the World: Volume 1 Hairy Humanoids”.
“Beasts of Britain” (also available on Audible.com as an audio book) truly delivers a rich and fascinating ride through the cryptozoological legend and lore of Britain! Filled with a vast collection of witness reports and beastly theories covering everything from simple out-of-place animals to utterly inexplicable monstrosities, and everything in between! The varied subjects include Alien big cats (sightings of large predatory felids prowling Britain that are not native to Britain), lake monsters such as Nessie and Morag, dogmen, faeries, winged nightmares like the owlman, giant hairy ape men, and of course the BLACK SHUCK! Chapters are broken down by subject such as lake and sea monsters, Bigfoot type humanoids, werewolves, etc. and following each of these chapters is a section entitled “beastly theories‘ where McGrath provides analysis and speculation on that particular topic. Here the theories range from the mundane to the weird and wild. Within its 330+ pages this book delivers an absolute impressive gauntlet of creature, monster, and beastly encounters. So many in fact, that we were shocked the stories were limited to just Britain! A fascinating and fun read that engages the reader and leaves you asking "what if?"!
With “Beasts of the World: Hairy Humanoids” McGarth introduces his first volume of what is to be a seven part series that in his own words “…seeks to investigate the histories, evidence, and common theories surrounding numerous cryptid creatures that have been reported around the globe”, and he hits the ground running! Reader be warned, in Hairy Humanoids you won't find the classic Bigfoot stories you might be expecting. In fact, they are completely omitted as McGrath explains the subject of the North American Bigfoot is just too big and cumbersome to simply slip into this book. Instead, he has chosen to focus on a plethora of other mysterious creatures and leave the subject of Bigfoot for a future book of its own. What is left is a unique examination of man apes, wildmen, monkey monsters, dogmen, and more! It is an amazing combination of classic hairy cryptid creatures such as the Yeti of the Himalayas , the Yowie of Australia, or the Florida Everglade’s Skunk Ape to the lesser known hairy humanoids such as the Mari Coxi of Brazil, the Yeren of China, or el Sisemite of Guatemala. Even the chapter on dogmen is varied as it covers adlets from the Arctic, skinwalkers, Hyena men of Africa, and more. We haven’t even touched on the chapter on amphibious cryptids like Kappas, Rusalka, and the Honey Island Swamp Monster. Mcgrath somehow delivers an encyclopedia’s worth of knowledge and stories compressed into a 370 page book that reads smoothly and easily due to his expertly organizing facts and information. The write up of each topic/creature is provided in the same fashion: Name of creature, brief overview, what/where its name comes from, its physical description, description of its tracks, its behaviors, its diet, its habitat, scary sightings, best evidence, and like “Beasts of Britain” he ends each chapter/topic with “Beastly Theories”. It’s an interesting book provided in an easily digestible format that makes it a rather quick read and left me excited to see what the next volume holds! It's an absolute must for cryptid enthusiasts or the curious.
Both books are published by Hangar 1 Publishing and are available currently on amazon (link below) and both covers were design by Doug Hajicek. For more info check out the Beastly Theories page and as always... Keep it Creepy!
