In light of the fast approaching and highly anticipated North Qld festival, Archaic Gathering 2024 (just over 8 weeks to go), I’ve uploaded this cute little full-on mix to my SoundCloud for all you psychedelic Special K fans out there. I actually made this playlist for Archaic Gathering 2023, so I guess you could technically say it’s my set from then.
Those of you who attended Archaic Gathering 2023 will no doubt remember the freak rain event we had at 1:00am on Sunday morning (ie. my scheduled set time) which ultimately crushed me, for a moment, until I realized I’ve been playing renegade master for a while now, so I raced off in the buggie to get my decks and speakers, to set up a renegade party under the art gallery; I wasn’t going to be outdone by 1 inch of rain in less than an hour, not at my party, not for my set and not for the party people! And party we did!! Nothing like going from beautiful acoustic sounds to an electronic full-on psytrance mix 😉. Side note – all of our equipment made a full recovery.
I thought the vocals of the first track really suited the Corsair Sound theme being related to water. I’m sure you all remember the gorgeous mermaid we had as our main stage “Shipwrecked”. From there it turns into a journey where we explore consciousness and our role in the world as individuals and how the connection to psytrance relates to the human experience.
For those of you who were there for my sunset session at the Big Red Tent at Rabbits Eat Lettuce festival just gone, know that at roughly 18:00 minutes into this set I include a psytrance track that has sampled the EAT, SLEEP, RAVE, REPEAT song. IFYKYK. Boom fu***ng boom man 😉
PS: We have had our first fully dry day here at Glenluce (meaning no rain) since I left for Rabbits Eat Lettuce on the 26th of March and it feels like the Lord has blessed us with a breath of air and sunshine. So grateful. I looked out the kitchen window this morning and thought to myself, it’s feels like Archaic Gathering time.

Wow, what a weekend!! Tasmania, you are beautiful. Thankyou Trance NDance and everyone else involved in creating this amazing experience. It was a pleasure to meet so many great artists and party with some of my closest friends.

specialK is a young female dj from central Queensland with a passion for electronic music and the music festival scene around Australia. First discovering electronic dance music at the age of 13, special K has always been the life of the party, eventually she would go on to become a well known local dj who always puts on a show for the crowd and is now djing at different events and nightclubs in Airlie Beach. Although specialK is known to dj a number of genres including drum and bass, bass house and techno, her heart belongs to psy-trance.
