Very excited to be able to order some of Van Gogh’s Fantasy Mix for the first time in Canada 🇨🇦! If you haven’t heard of him or his story look him up. I have been following along dreaming of being able to grow some of these sunflowers but they were never available for Canadians…..until now. Looking forward to the 2024 growing season and discovering what beauties are in these packets!
Grateful for the extended nice weather as we’re running behind on fall chores. I was finally able to get bulbs planted today. 1200 bulbs went in this afternoon. Tulips, allium and fritillaria. Can’t wait to see the new varieties come spring. Finished the evening by enjoying the last swiss chard harvest for dinner.
20 years ago today we began our journey together. We’ve seen our ups and downs but I wouldn’t change it for anything. As we’re looking back at photos I can’t help but look at our wedding flowers with a different perspective. If it was today I would want to ensure they were local and sustainable but wouldn’t change the “feel”. Oh how I ❤️ fall and all it’s glory!
Restocked the stand between the rain! We have lots of selection of decor items - neat gourds and pumpkins. Fresh bouquets and some arrangements in pumpkins

The design intensive Slow Flowers Workshop with Shane Connolly did not disappoint. The second day was a small group setting where Shane lead us through 3 more of his designs and shared his philosophy, approach and the process he uses to create his designs. We had the opportunity under his tutelage to experiment and create our own arrangement with an abundance of local flowers, branches and botanicals. So many talented and inspirational designers to learn from. The arrangement with the blue background is my creation. The beautiful vessel commissioned from Seattle ceramic artist Karra Wise and Shane’s new book “A Year in Flowers” will serve as a reminder of this extraordinary opportunity.
If you are not familiar with Shane Connolly I highly recommend you look him up! Today I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a lecture and demonstration from sustainable UK floral designer, Shane Connolly. Shane Connolly is a champion for the use of seasonal, sustainable and local flowers in floral design. So much so that the royal family has recognized his vision and bestowed on him the designation of the official supplier of flowers for royal events including the 2005 wedding of King Charles and Queen Camilla, the 2011 wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales and most recently the coronation of King Charles. It was an absolutely remarkable day and I look forward to day 2 of my adventure with Slow Flowers Society and Shane Connolly.

I couldn’t help but notice the wedding flowers of a favourite Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery! The meadow feel to the bouquet is right on trend. Cosmos and dahlias make for a beautiful bouquet that shouts seasonal and local flowers 💕

What better way to end the week than watching the sun set amongst these beauties. Some sunflower varieties are finished but the doubles are spectacular right now. I planted a “double sunking” variety from that is unlike anything I have seen for a double sunflower in height and presence….just beautiful! The “Astra Rose Cream” sunflowers from provide a different look that is no less spectacular

Flower stand will be open tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday 9-6. Lots of summer tone bouquets if you are holding onto summer or if you are ready to embrace fall there are lots of “fall feel” bouquets available as well. Look forward to seeing you!
The flower stand will be closed this coming weekend. I am taking orders to be ready for pick up/delivery Thursday morning. We do offer DIY buckets of flowers that can be selected to suit your event. Message to discuss options and pricing.
The stand will be open Friday and Saturday this weekend 9-6. There will be lots of sunflowers and lots of varieties of sunflowers. We planted over 40 different varieties this year and are just starting to see the fruit of the plantings. We will have $10 sunflower only bouquets and $15 mixed flower bouquets. I love sweet peas and have tried for many years to grow them with little success. This year is no different….they started off strong and then the month of no rain and heat early in the season set them back. I am enjoying the few blooms that are popping up though. The first pic is “chocolate flake” and oh how I wish I had more. It is stunning!
Exciting news! Our website is now active! You can find us at www.bunkerhillflowerfarm.ca Orders can be placed online or you can still message directly (I will get them both ways 😀) How it will work is Thursday morning I will post sample pictures of what is blooming that week and codes to be used online. Bouquets will not be exactly as shown as each one is hand selected and unique but the samples will give an idea. You can make a custom request in the field if you would like certain colours or more/less of certain flowers. I will do my best to work through this new system. Please be patient I am sure I will be making adjustments as I learn! Here is this weeks info:

🌸Preorders will be set aside with your name at the stand. 🌸Flowers at the stand are first come first served until sold out.
🌸Bouquets this week will be medium $15 and there are 4 options.
1- “Fall” - a mix of autumn colours and fillers. 2- “Mixed” - a mix of pastels or bold colours (please specify if you have a preference)
3- “Glads” -one variety or a mix 4- “Snaps” - one variety or a mix
And so begins sunflower season! Procut red/lemon 🌻❤️

First substantial harvest of the season 💕 Things are opening right before your eyes. Beyond happy to have my first lisianthius bloom and a beautiful glad called “Joker” that turns a blush after being cut. Mixed bouquets getting ready for stand this coming weekend. Stay tuned for details!
