Please note: Although this GNO is a Halloween themed event, Jamie will still be providing her usual transformative-femme makeup. Halloween or Special FX makeup will not be provided for this particular event as that takes a while to complete and Jamie wants to be able to help as many of you ladies look your most femme that evening. Thank you for your kind understanding! 🙏

Halloween event!!!!

Started in 2012, GNO is a Social night out for the Trans/CD community to let loose and have a little fun. We welcome everybody to our event, transgender individuals, CDs, non-binary folk, allies, and supporters in an LGBTQ2+ supportive environment.

it’s Halloween, do we really need to say any more. Time to start planning your costume!!! We’ll have prizes for the sexiest and the scariest costumes. Also, the best overall costume of the night, chosen by the restaurant staff, so tip your server well!

You must sign up for a ticket on Eventbtite to attend the event.

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/gno-presents-halloween-get-your-costume-freak-on-tickets-182189372317

Capacity is limited to 85, due to Covid restrictions, so sign up early to avoid disappointment. The event is free, but donations are gladly accepted, and will go towards supporting this night with prizes and treats! Note - a donation through Eventbrite also signs you up for a ticket, there is no need to also get a free ticket if you have donated.

Everyone loved the new venue for our event in September, so we’re heading back to the same spot

The restaurant is the Chop Steakhouse and Bar, attached to the Sandman Hotel in Oakville. The restaurant has agreed to reserve the bar area for our private party.

Booking a room at the Sandman is a great option, so you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving. We are waiting for a code with the hotel and will update as soon as we get it.

We will also set up a room sharing group on the event’s page so people interested in sharing a room can find a roommate.

As the party won’t start until 10:00pm, we encourage you to book a table at the restaurant for dinner prior to the event. New to GNO? We are hoping some of our event “veterans” will volunteer to host tables of up to six so you can meet fellow newbies in a more intimate setting. Look for more details on that on social media.

Not able to make it to dinner, no fear, there will be snacking options available at the bar during the event - see Happy Hour menu:

https://chop.ca/ontario/oakville-steak-restaurant/burlington-oakville/touchless-menu

Signing up for Eventbrite is free and you can sign up using your preferred name. For example, if you normally present as male, but will present as female at the event, you can sign up using your female name.

There are two ticket types for the event. One is free, just select that option, the number of tickets for your party, answer the question about the hotel, and checkout.

The other option gets you a ticket as well, but also allows you to provide a donation. You can use either a credit card or Paypal for the donation. Just enter the donation amount in the box, answer the question about the hotel, and checkout. The donation option only shows as one attendee, so if there are more people in your party, please “buy” the appropriate number of free tickets as well.

Jamie of TGCD Style Toronto is the event’s official makeup artist. Jamie is a professional makeup artist and stylist offering realistic (non-drag) male-to-female transformations from head to toe, makeup lessons, storage of your femme wardrobe, and consulting on femme poise and movement. She also carries a selection of wigs and cosmetics. Jamie can also order what you need for you and have it shipped to her home for an easy, discreet pickup.

Please contact her direct to book a makeover prior to the event. You won’t regret it, she is amazing. Her website is:

Hi everyone

One week to go to GNO and one last update. Hopefully y’all are excited as we are. Again, lots of important information in this message, so please read carefully.

Unwanted tickets

If you can no longer attend the event, please let us know. We have about 20 people on the waitlist who would love to have your unwanted ticket.

Location

The restaurant has decided they would prefer to host us in the bar like originally planned. The bar sits 85, with about 10 booths around the outside, a long high table sitting 20 in the middle of the bar and then further seating at the bar itself.

Everyone in the bar must be seated during the event. That means that if all 90 ticket holders show up, late comers may be directed to sit in the dining room or the patio, depending on the weather.

Only Eventbrite ticket holders will be permitted in the bar. We will stamp your hand when you arrive and you will have to show your stamp to reenter.

The late night menu with reasonably priced options will be available. We have also requested a veggie platter as another vegetarian option. Appetizers will also be served to the group as a late night snack. Last orders for alcohol will be 1am.

Each person will have their own tab with their server. The restaurant has requested that all orders be placed from the table you were originally seated.

And the winner is….

Ashley C. won the free makeover with Jamie.

Photographer

Joanna has agreed to be the event’s official photographer. She will be snapping pics of people at the event, which may be posted on social media to promote future GNOs. Please let Joanna know if you don’t want to be included in any photos. Joanna has also offered to do a few portrait shots of people, if she can find a suitable spot in the restaurant or outside. Finally, we may attempt a group shot outside. We’ll let you know on the night if this will be possible.

Covid

This GNO is going to look a little different from previous events because, well you know….Covid . We know there are a lot of rules, we ask that you follow them all because we really want to be able fo host more events at this location.

In addition to the health and safety measures we announced previously for the event, and reproduced below, the bar requires the following from all attendees:

All guests must complete contact tracing with the restaurant’s host team and can then proceed to check in with Sianna at the entrance to the bar
Guests will be assigned tables and seats – guests will be reminded that a mask must be worn at all times when not seated.

As a reminder, the GNO Covid measures are:

1. COVID-19 Warning
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. Senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

By attending the Gurls Night Out event on September 18, 2021, you are confirming that you and all persons in your party:

- are not experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19, including:

- Fever or chills

- Cough

- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

- Fatigue

- Muscle or body aches

- Headache

- New loss of taste or smell

- Sore throat

- Congestion or runny nose

Hi all,

There are less than three weeks to go to the GNO so we are past due for an update. Thanks for bearing with us during this fluid situation. As you all know, Covid cases are on the rise again and it’s virtually guaranteed we will still be in Stage 3 of the Province’s reopening plan on September 18. According to various news outlets, the Ontario government may introduce a vaccine passport this week. We will assess any impact this may have on the event, and provide a further update if necessary.

There is lots of important information about the event in this message, so please read carefully.

1. COVID-19 Warning

3. Capacity limits and location
The bar area of the restaurant only has seating for 52 people under the Stage 3 restrictions. As an alternative, the restaurant/hotel has offered us two private rooms, which are in close proximity to each other. One room has seating for 60, the other for 30. Combined, they accommodate the 90 folk that reserved tickets on Eventbrite. A cash bar will be available in both rooms and food will be available from a late night menu.

Unfortunately, that means capacity for the event will be restricted to the 90 folk with tickets. Please let us know if you have a ticket but can no longer attend.

We will set up a waiting list on Eventbrite. If tickets become available for whatever reason, they will be offered on a first come, first serve basis to folk who signed up on the waiting list. Should tickets become available, you may receive an email from Eventbrite and will have 24 hours to “purchase” your ticket before it is offered to the next person on the list.

We will open up the waiting list for sign up at 5pm on September 1. There is no guarantee you will be able to attend the event if you sign up on the waiting list. You must have a ticket to attend the event.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Sarah and Sianna

Hi all,

We just wanted to give you all a heads up that we have temporarily (hopefully) suspended ticket “sales” on Eventbrite. Yesterday’s announcement from the province means we will likely still be in Stage 3 of the province’s reopening plan on September 18. The restaurant’s capacity is 85 in Stage 3 and we already have 90 signed up on Eventbrite. We will be contacting the restaurant in the next few days to see if we can squeeze any more in, by using the patio for example. Until then, stay tuned, and hopefully we will be able to announce soon that ticket sales are once again open.

If you have signed up on Eventbrite and can no longer make it, please let us know so we can open up your spot to someone who can.

Hi all,

Thanks to all who have donated so far 🤗

Eventbrite is confusing. We’ve noticed a lot of people ordering too many tickets when they donate. Each donation also gets you a ticket to the event, there is no need to also select the free ticket option unless there is someone else coming with you. So that we have an accurate number of attendees, please let us know if you ordered too many tickets. We can “refund” the extra free tickets.

Here’s the link to the Eventbrite page for all who haven’t signed up yet.

Welcome to GNO’s new event, Covid Comeback - We Survived!!! As promised, here are more details about the event.

Started in 2012, GNO is a Social night out for the Trans/CD community to let loose and have a little fun. We welcome everybody to our event, transgender individuals, CDs, non-binary folk, allies, and supporters in an LGBTQ2+ supportive environment.

The event is free, but donations are gladly accepted, and will go towards supporting this night with prizes and treats!

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/gno-presents-covid-comeback-we-survived-tickets-161560021373

For everyone who signs up on Eventbrite before September 10, your name will go into a draw for a FREE MAKEOVER by Jamie of TGCD Style Toronto before the party!

Jamie is the event’s official makeup artist.

Her website is:

https://www.tgcdstyletoronto.com/

So new event, new location. We are sure you are going to love it!

The restaurant is the Chop Steakhouse and Bar, attached to the Sandman Hotel in Oakville. The restaurant has agreed to reserve the bar area for our private party.

Booking a room at the Sandman is a great option, so you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving. We have a special rate with the Sandman Hotel Oakville......$99.....use code 159713 and book by phone at 1-800-SANDMAN

To use the code you must book by August 31.

We will also set up a room sharing group on the event’s page so people interested in sharing a room can find a roommate.

As the party won’t start until 9:30 pm, we encourage you to book a table at the restaurant for dinner prior to the event. New to GNO? We are hoping some of our event “veterans” will volunteer to host tables of four to eight so you can meet fellow newbies in a more intimate setting. Look for more details on that on social media.

Not able to make it to dinner, no fear, there will be snacking options available at the bar during the event - see Happy Hour menu:

https://chop.ca/ontario/oakville-steak-restaurant/burlington-oakville/touchless-menu

We’d really, really, really appreciate it if you could sign up for the event on Eventbrite. Here’s the link:

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/gno-presents-covid-comeback-we-survived-tickets-161560021373

So what’s the deal with Eventbrite we hear you ask? Great question! Even though the event is free (yay!) we would love people to sign up for tickets on Eventbrite for three reasons:

1. It allows the restaurant to track how many people are coming so they can staff appropriately. None of us want to be waiting twenty minutes for a drink right? If you are signing up as a couple, please “buy” two free tickets. Up to 6 tickets are available per order.

2. There is also a question asking if you plan to book a room at the hotel. We’d love to be able to negotiate better rates with the hotel for future events, knowing how many of our attendees book a room at the hotel would help our efforts. You have to answer this yes/no question before you can checkout from Eventbrite.

3. It allows us to collect donations for the event. We will use donations to buy raffle prizes to award at the event and/or appetizers for the party from the restaurant. If we get 100 attendees and everyone donates just $5, that would be $500, which would be awesome. The more revenue we can generate for the restaurant, the more likely we’ll be welcomed back. Please donate what you can, but please note, donations are not required to attend the event.

And if those three reasons aren’t enough to convince you, as mentioned above, people who sign up on Eventbrite before September 10 will be put into a draw to win a free makeover from the fabulous Jamie Bratslavsky, the event’s official makeup artist. This makeover has to be booked with Jamie the day of the event at the Sandman Hotel.

Phew, that was a lot of reading, just give me the link to Eventbrite already. Right, here it is again in case you missed it earlier on:

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/gno-presents-covid-comeback-we-survived-tickets-161560021373

What if Covid rears its ugly head? Another great question. We have booked a back-up date with the hotel in October if reopening due to Covid is slower than expected. Any donations received will be held over to be used at the later date.

Gurls Nite Out! Its back, quarantine is gone, so grab a Party Dress and let the fun begin!
