“Officer Steve, can you please tell me when are fresh oysters from Narragansett Bay the plumpest and tastiest?”

“Why, of course I can, Little Jimmy! Fresh oysters from Narragansett Bay are the plumpest and tastiest in the Fall.”

“ Why is that, Officer Steve ?“

“Well, Little Jimmy, oysters hibernate in the winter, and all summer they are bulking up their meats with fats and starches, so they can sleep all winter without feeding. Does that make sense to you, Little Jimmy?”

“Wow! It sure does. I’m going to go right out and eat as many fresh, plump, tasty Narragansett Bay oysters as I can! Thanks, Officer Steve.”

“That’s a good lad, Little Jimmy. But first you’d better take that candy you just stole out of your pocket and put it on the counter!”
