Queer & Now News & updates

We have a whole heap of stuff going on that we want to share with you.

Newport Events: We have joined forces with Valentines cafe & bar in Scarrotts Lane for our next 3 Events. Launching on Saturday 16th March.
One Holyrood will continue to be a venue for us to use but during the coming months it will be all about the garden.

Ryde Events: Monkton Arts will continue in all it's glory for the foreseeable.

Sandown Events: Yes it is finally here we have booked three dates with Flanagan's, the Sandown launch will be hosted by Proud Mary and include music dancing lips sync battles and anything else Proud Mary can throw at us.

More I here you say....... well, there is now a whats app group set up along with Mike Wilson I will share the link. If you are already in the group please invite all your LGBTQ+ friends and family. Its quite social and will keep you up to date with everything going that is, With For or by our community and Allies.

And finally if you want to march with us at Pride this year please DM me. I wanted to get a gaggle of Queers mincing down Union street proudly waving the Queer & Now banner. We are also looking for some volunteers to help with our stalls at three prides IOW, Southampton & Portsmouth and The IOW festival.

Oh did I mention? we are in talks with The Sun Inn Calbourne & Heron Lounge watch this space.

tomorrow's Queer & Now @ One Holyrood will have 5 founding members at the event, a first for us. So drop by and say Hi to Michael (back behind the Bar) Salmon, Ashleigh (Gorgeous) Porter, Kim (Social Shlaaapper) Jeffs, Joe (Jojo) Lee And the Amazing Quivers. Only missing our Pete (Proud Mary) Andrew for a full house.
Michael is currently mixing up a storm for our Q&N Cocktail and Shot so get yer little tushes in gear and join us this Friday night for fun and frivolity at One Holyrood. (do you think they know what they've let themselves in for😄!!)

Forget the Scooters, the buzziest bar in Ryde last night was at Monkton Arts.

Queer & Now put on it's first ever event at this fabulous venue, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to Jenna, Alex & Josh for their warm welcome and helping to recreate the perfect Gay Bar (including pole!!)

So many people relaxing and enjoying themselves, catching up with old friends and making new ones, a truly fabulous evening. Can't wait to do it all again, when we return to Snacks and Ladders Board Game Café in Newport on 22nd September.

It’s the BIG MEMBERSHIP CARD kick off at Monkton Arts. Tomorrow night we get to answer the question on everyone’s lips, just who is going to be the first official member of the best gay club on the Island?

Membership cards are a fiver, sign up and you get to bring your first Allie in with you on the night for free. (Usually £1.00)

Hello Unicorns!

Queer & Now Update: For our upcoming Ryde events we will be at Monkton Arts and as far as possible going forward we will try to ensure all future venues are accessible. We're listening :o)

So our unconventional Conventionists get yer teeth into that lot and watch this space as we intend to get right across the island and give you a few events in the week. If you know of anyone who has a space and doesn't mind having it queered up a bit let us know. We are willing to add sparkle & gorgeousness to any venue.

Big Thank you to everyone who dropped by and said hello yesterday at the Queer & Now tent. We look forward to welcoming you to our next pop up at Monkton Arts in Ryde Saturday 26th August from 6.30pm where you will be invited to get your exclusive Q&N membership card.

A very special Q&N Thank you to Lucy from Brushyourface who glittered everyone up and helped to make us the best tent at Pride.

Our event at Snacks & Ladders on 18th August will not be going ahead. However great news we have a shiny new venue and will be running an August event at Monkton Arts in Ryde on Saturday 26th August from 6.30pm. Watch this space more info to follow.

Currently in recovery from what was a fantastic evening at BAR 74. Camp Cabaret filled the air with Queer Pride and Love. Queer & Now would like to say a huge THANK you to Dani, Sully and all the bar staff, you kept us all well lubricated, even when you got hit with Technical Difficulties you kept going.

And what can we say about our host the indomitable Quivers simply breathtaking, no seriously I had an asthma attack just watching. Proud Mary showed us why the Pride Stage will miss such a talented funny awesome drag Queen, brilliantly naughty.

And on top of this we saw the incredibly gifted Emellia Charlene Solo Singer and The Ventnor Darlings Just showing us what fantastic talent the island has to offer.

Thank you again we love you all ###

We are also very sad about the postponement of pride but being eternal optimists we see it as two prides for the price of one which can't be bad.
Fate whispers to Queer & Now "you can not withstand the storm" and Queer & Now whispered back "we are the storm Biach, now get out the way whilst we party. See you Saturday night at Bar 74 we won't let a bit of wind get in the way (we'll just open the window) — feeling excited at BAR 74.

The early evening kicks off from 18:00, with brilliant island talent taking us in to the big kick off at 21:30, including Emellia, The Ventnor Darlings, Charlene Solo Singer, and Proud Mary, with more to be announced closer to the time. Hosted from 21:30 by Quivers, who will be performing and DJing at the end of the night. 👯‍♀️
