💭Myths about autism

All over the world, the diagnosis of autism began relatively recently. Along with this, many myths have appeared that mislead the young parents of the special children😔

In this text, we want to eliminate some of them. So that both parents and society have the right impression of these special people👇🏻

❌ People with ASD are aggressive.

Aggression is not a diagnostic criteria for autism. It's just that some children and adults with this feature find it difficult to control emotions, if they do not have other means of communication. Therefore, sometimes the expression of their feelings looks like aggression, but is not.

❌ Autism can be cured

ASD is a disorder with which a person is born and fortunately lives all the way until the old age. Autism is not contagious, it cannot be prevented, parents and their lifestyle are not to blame for autism (the opposite has not been proven at the moment). There is no cure for it either.
But there are rehabilitation and activities that help children with autism become more social. Our application is one of such tools.

Although, in this case, the word "suffering" is not very suitable, given the incredible success of a genius. Yes, this post is about 🧔🏻‍♂️Woody Allen!

👉🏻The director and actor was diagnosed with autism in early childhood, which certainly left a negative imprint (for example, Woody suffered from a large number of various phobias), but no doubt, he was a gifted genius.

Or how people with this feature of development perceive the world?💫

Autism – is not a disease. It is a disorder with which people are born, live until old age, and which, at least for now, cannot be cured. Therefore, it is very important to talk about how people with autism perceive the world and, if possible adapt and accept this condition❤️

In this text, we will give the most popular examples, yet not the only ones at hand. Examples described by adults and children with autism👇🏻

1️⃣ Most importantly – people with ASD are much more sensitive to everything around them. They notice what ordinary people do not see, they react more acutely to sounds and smells. Sometimes this helps them to become brilliant scientists, musicians and artists. But sometimes it simply interferes with normal development and acceptance of information.

2️⃣ It is difficult for people with autism to be in crowded places (train station, shopping centre), because their brain is not able to analyse and digest the information around them so quickly. The fewer people – the clearer what is happening.

3️⃣ The thinking of people with ASD is concrete, it is difficult for them to recognise emotions. Therefore, everything that you say is perceived concretely. Sarcasm, jokes, aphorisms only cause more confusion.

4️⃣ People with autism spend a lot of energy to live among ordinary people and adapt to the existing world. Often adults with autism realise that they "do not fit" into generally accepted norms and try to adapt to them in order to have a chance of a normal life. And this "adjustment" takes a lot of energy. People do not notice this, and sometimes condemn if something goes wrong. But the next time a person says “thank you” to you more rudely than you would like, think about it: maybe he simply cannot do otherwise? Maybe he does not distinguish between intonations?
