Wreath prep.....once I have chosen the colour palette for my design I cut and trim the dried flowers and foliage into workable stems. I always need more than I think as I work around the design and start grabbing at other stems I feel will add to the creation .....it all gets very messy 😬 so thought I would take this pic before that happens and whilst I have a free hand!

Every wreath is unique and handcrafted by me with my own home grown dried flowers. It is a slow creation but hopefully you will think worth the wait! They are to be enjoyed for many moons. This wreath has found a gorgeous new home today and I will be creating more to show you over the next few weeks. If tempted please let me know. I have very been quiet on social media recently but behind the scenes busy creating designs for the home, workplace, holiday lets....the list is endless with my home grown, dried flower stems, also a perfect sustainable gift to a loved one. Each unique, all stems are their natural colours, (apart from those bleached by the ☀️) Mother Nature needs no helping hand! Over the next few weeks I will share images of individual designs as they become available. Happy, sunny weekend!

As the fresh flowers in the growing patch are almost coming to an end, I enjoyed the Autumnal shades of the Rudbeckia whilst cutting and successfully dodging the intermittent down pours! Hope you did too!

Growing for the first time this year this beautiful Aster Lavender Grey! I like to grow that's a little different and love this subtle lilac colour which compliments the White Dahlias I have growing at the moment!

The poppy seed heads are now all cut and hung for drying. It doesn't take long when the sun is shining although today is a 'dodge the showers' type of day! I enjoy having their structural heads simply arranged in a ceramic vase around the home. They also look lovely in everlasting bouquets and wreaths and will be ready to buy for your home or as an everlasting, sustainable gift from mid September.

A very special gift bouquet to celebrate an anniversary of a wonderful couple. This bouquet was bursting with a variety of flowers including David Austin Roses, Astilbe, Stocks, Ammi, Delphiniums, Agapanthus, Achillea, Tanacetum, Snaps and a wonderful mix of fragrant herbs and foliage. All home grown here in the cutting garden and the non cutting garden! I couldn't stop myself, I wanted to make it extra special! ☺️

Just emptied the greenhouse from the last dried crop, now on to harvesting and drying the poppy heads! It's going to take me a while but spurred on to creating more planting space which I need desperately to plant the remaining seedlings out!

A June Birthday Bouquet enjoying the shade. In this heat, to keep your blooms flowering as long as possible display them away from the sunlight in as cool an area as you are able in your home, replace the water daily and snip the base of the flower stems regularly.

Drying is my main focus over the next few months, especially naturally bleaching certain crops using the sun's rays alone. My harvested Wrinkle Cress from green to straw white in a matter of days.

However the journey from seed to dried is a long one even before creating designs and definitely some flowers are easier than others. When considering their entire journey through their various stages you appreciate their value and their ability to be enjoyed for a long time!

Out with the old and in with the new!

Sad to see the beautiful Ranunculus go last week as they are definitely one of my favourites although I find quite challenging to grow. Their beds are now needed for the numerous seedlings waiting to be planted out, many with the intention of drying. Great feeling though, getting rid of all those weeds and having a tidy up! It won't last for long! Enjoy your bank holiday Monday ☀️

A break from planting to cut for 'Friday Flowers'. Sweet Rocket with it's delicate flowers and fragrance, and apple mint first in the buckets this morning. It looks like it going to be another lovely day!

'Purple' Alliums, Syringa (Lilac), Hesperis (Sweet Rocket), and Aquilegia (Granny's Bonnet) bursting out in colour and fragrance for this week's Friday Flowers. Busiest time of year it seems at the moment (although I often say that!) so just trying to keep going with the potting on, and planting out, never ending weeding ......deadlines looming! Enjoy your weekend, it looks like it's going to be a fine one, although grateful for the recent shower we've just had as that is at least one job off today's list! ☺️

'White and green' was the brief for talented florist who likes to source British grown flowers for her weddings. I loved putting these buckets together filled with fragrance and after 2/3 years of growth lots of the Perennials are performing well this year👏🏻 Viburnham opulus, Senecio, and Choisya in the mix as well as newly flowering Sweet Rocket, Wrinkle cress, bunny tails, and apple mint.

Bringing a sense of calm this week after such a special and memorable weekend the Green Spirit tulip, with their large flowers and strong stems are the last to flower in the cutting patch. Perfect on their own or combined with the deep crimson frilly parrot tulip, the choice is yours. Please confirm all orders by tomorrow evening for 'Friday flowers' this week.

The Ranunculus are busy flowering now after a steady start. They are very precious sourced Italian Ranunculus and they require a lot of attention during their growing journey starting in September/October but totally worth it once their beautiful double ruffled blooms appear! You can see in stories where they have been included in the last couple of weeks.
