This event is an Upcycle Do It Yourself Event where you BRING YOUR OWN TSHIRT to Upcycle by weaving techniques in an attempt to fight fast fashion.

At this event you will learn how to weave YOUR OWN TSHIRT (PLEASE BRING ONE FROM HOME YOU’D LIKE TO UPCYCLE) with the exact design shown in the upper right corner.

*we are accepting donations of Tshirts of all sizes to be upcycled at this event and future events*

Hello Everyone! I am a young 22-year-old female entrepreneur that is trying to start their business "The Upcycle Exchange" about events where we provide attendees with all materials and ideas to upcycle/upgrade/make anything in their home as Do It Yourself (DIYs). That could be upcycling old shirts/denim, making new art to match your home, or even upcycle furniture you already own into something better (coming soon). Some events are public and others are private with the chance of hiring us for birthday parties, baby showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties and more to have fun DIYs to make.

Some of you might know and others not but for the past few months I have been putting a lot of my energy into testing a business idea that I had a year ago. The idea has changed so much throughout the whole process but I am finally at a place where I’d like to test what I have. The idea of my business is to teach people “How to: Do It Yourself (DIY)” everything and anything from clothing to art and to even household things. Sustainability is something I aim for and what’s better than teaching people to do it themselves instead of buying from somewhere and creating a demand that drives fast fashion and other problems that lead to the destruction of our planet. For this test I will begin with 3 free do it yourself (DIY) Events & one paid one. The events are as follows: (8/13) How To: Mixed Media Art (FREE); (8/20) How To: Upcycle Old Shirts (FREE), (8/27) How To: Upcycle Old Denim (FREE), (9/3) How To: Rave Kandi & Perler Beads (PAID)! The first free events are to test if my idea is even something that people would enjoy and I’d love it if you come! The last event is paid to hopefully be able to fund the following event and so forth.

1. How To: Mixed Media Art
At the free “How To: Mixed Media Art” Event, attendees will have the chance to create a mixed media canvas art piece for their home. There will be multiple media provided such as acrylic paint, colored paper, beads, felt, wooden pieces to paint & hot glue on, pom pom balls, googly eyes, stickers, iron-on patches & more. Attendees will be provided with all of the materials & cool ideas on how to paint and make the most of the event. This event is testing a business idea and how to execute it correctly.

For a chance to upcycle it into something that they’d want to wear again. At the event there will be a chance to paint with stencil over the clothing, iron-on patches, cut shirts in a few cool & different styles, rip, tie-dye, splatter with paint or bleach for cool effects, even add beads to it in heart and flower shapes. This event is fighting to eliminate the creation of more demand by upcycling what you already own into something cool. Demand is what drives the mass production of fast fashion & our planet's destruction. This event is testing a business idea and how to execute it correctly.

At the event there will be a chance to paint with stencil over the clothing, iron-on patches, make rips & cuts, tie-dye, splatter with paint or bleach for cool effects, sandpaper for a distressed look and even add beads to it in heart and flower shapes. This event is fighting to eliminate the creation of more demand by upcycling what you already own into something cool. Demand is what drives the mass production of fast fashion & our planet's destruction. This event is testing a business idea and how to execute it correctly.
