A magical elopement in the Big Sur redwoods and along the cliffs. I absolutely loved adventuring with Emily and Jeremy and their family all over Big Sur!!

We hiked up into the mountains for a beautiful private vow exchange, and then spent some lovely time along the bluffs for some stunning sunset pics.

All smiles, laughter, and joy with these folks.
A PERFECT DAY!

I only wish they would’ve brought me on their trip to Disneyland, but what’s a boy to do? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I absolutely love these moments from Grace and Trevor‘s gorgeous cliffside wedding in Big Sur, California.

I challenged myself during the photography process and switched to my 50mm manual lens for some of the sunset portraits. It’s a lot harder to shoot manual, but the results came out stunning! There is something special about vintage manual lenses that have so much character and interact with the light in a beautiful way.

We are so spoiled with modern day digital photography. It is so tempting to shoot 30 frames per second in high speed burst mode, it is another thing to slow down and shoot intentionally as you soak in your surroundings and what is going on with your couple.

Here is a subtle reminder for my vendor friends and couples:

Slow down.
Savor the moment.
Watch the sunset.

You won’t ever regret that experience.
You especially won’t regret the results.

Honestly, it’s one of my favorite venues to shoot at in the area and the vendors they partner with are absolutely top notch in the area!

3 3 • Y E A R S • O L D

It’s been an incredible year!! So many wild changes have really stretched me and grown me in so many ways. My couples have taken me to incredible places all over California and I’m so blessed to be able to do photography for some the most amazing weddings and elopements!

A few major updates on life this past year:

• Business continues to grow and expand more than I ever thought
• Said goodbye to our foster girl C back in October ‘23 😭
• Said hello to a new foster toddler girl in March ‘24 😃
• Accomplished a business dream of being featured on
• Been growing so much in my faith as God continues to provide for our family and show up in big ways during difficult circumstances
• Kaitlyn and I are doing better than ever and learning how to parent well

So much MORE is on the horizon and I can’t wait to see what’s in store!! Thank YOU ALL for being a part of my photography and life journey. You make it SO MUCH FUN!! 👏 🎊 📸

G + B knew exactly what they wanted for their Big Sur elopement: A hike in nature, ceremony in the redwoods, and some beautiful shots on the cliff side.

We adventured all up and down and captured some incredible moments together celebrating their love.

This 40th anniversary was extremely special to me! Why? Because….

These are my in-laws! 🥹

I was so honored that F + K requested me to capture their intimate 40th anniversary here on the coast. These two are like parents to me and we had a blast running around town, capturing some beautiful snaps, and battling the rainy weather.

We walked around Pacific Grove, and I even got to shoot at their restaurant over dinner. Then we went downtown in the rain to get some cute umbrella shots.

SO HONORED to do this for you guys. Congrats on your anniversary and your wonderful celebration!!

Yadira and Sergio wanted a magical Twilight Elopement on the Big Sur coast. We started off our day in the forest for a beautiful ceremony surrounded by trees. There’s something so serene about being in nature with your loved ones declaring your love for each other. LOVE IT.

Then I took them to one of my favorite cliffside areas for more beautiful photos by the Pacific Ocean. We walked, laughed, and had the best time together.

Y + S, I knew within 5 minutes of our first video call that we were absolutely were going to hit it off!! I’ve had such a BLAST getting to know you and capturing your romantic love story on the coast. Wishing you the absolute BEST!! Cheers. 🥂

T H E “I N • B E T W E E N”

No, that’s not a place in Stranger Things. It’s more of a philosophy in which I approach Photography on your wedding day. Here is a full set dedicated to candid moments of a wedding day.

Call it what you will: candid, natural, documentary, etc. All these descriptive words are attempting to achieve a similar mindset. It’s the idea that I am capturing beautiful moments as they happen, raw and real.

Sure, it’s easier to fill your feed with the most breathtaking epic photos from Golden Hour with a perfect sunset and lens flare.

But those shots aren’t going to be 100% of your gallery. Your gallery is also going to have your nephew Tyler on the dance floor having fun, or little Amanda trying to eat bubbles from the bubble gun, or grandma Rosie wiping away a happy tear during the ceremony.

Ah yes! These are the moments that should be captured right?

Those honest ones.
Those fun ones.
The ones you don’t notice but I do.

Let’s take a moment and appreciate THOSE moments.

10 slides are not enough to share Eryn and Pat’s beautiful wedding day, so I’ll definitely be sharing more!

There is a special beauty to getting married in the redwoods. The tall towering trees, a cool breeze, and a few moments surrounding by your loved ones. It’s a special thing.

I loved watching Eryn interact with her girls. You could tell their bonds were tight and their love was full. Pat and the guys were long time bros and they all a special pose that was unique to them. So fun.

A huge thanks for and an incredible vendor team for hosting. A LOVELY DAY!!

I often think about all of the incredible couples I get to work with. When I do, the same emotion seems to surface over and over again: GRATITUDE. 😊

I think it’s so important to look back and remember the beautiful moments and appreciate all of them. I think about the times I’ve gotten to celebrate with couples on their wedding days, eat cake, party on the dance floor, pop the question, run around in the rain, or even elope by ocean.

All of these days just fill me with joy and I can’t believe I get to be a part of these grand adventures.

So to all of my past and future couples… THANK YOU!

Thanks for believing in me.
Thanks for inviting me.
Thanks for trusting me with these once in a lifetime moments.

So here’s the thing, the winter sunset was a beautiful deep red and just blazing over the Pacific Ocean. So naturally…

On a private estate in Big Sur, we found a window. I knew this window would play a special part for this Elopement. We paused, took our time, and Katie and Craig enjoyed the intimacy of the moment.

I love these shots for a few reasons:

1. Katie looked gorgeous of course!
2. Sunsets don’t ALWAYS have to be shot outside. Using available light indoors can also be stunning and special.
3. There was complete trust between me and the couple. They encouraged the creative process and I love the results!
4. Sometimes a small tea time with the ones you love is the biggest part of your day.

One thing I’ll never grow tired of is connecting with people who have incredible stories who then privilege me with the honor of documenting their lives.

That’s all that matters. Not awards or fancy titles. But those special intimate moments that will only happen that one time on that one day.

Those are the moments I’m after. Those are those ones that couples rave about in tears when they look at their gallery.

The sweet ones.
The real ones.
The honest ones.

I intentionally take less dates each year because I want to provide the highest level of service and care for each and every couple. It’s a dream to be able to make a living from my art. I appreciate every single one of you. 🙏

Ten slides are not enough to showcase the beauty and intimacy of Shannon + Joe’s special day. It was full of class, laughter, rain, and family. A truly unforgettable experience.

A brief stroll through Heaven with C + K. 🌅

I think the most common thing couples share is a “slight discomfort” in front of the camera. I totally understand, it can be quite intimidating to meet a stranger in the middle of nowhere and walk around and take photos in front of a camera.

Yeah, that’s why I meet with every single couple virtually before they book so that we can have a conversation and get to know each other. I believe that first call is so essential to the client experience and the first step to making them feel like themselves during their shoot.

It’s also important to guide your couple in a way that encourages them to interact naturally with each other and get their minds off of the camera as much as possible. When they are loving each other and having a good time, the photos speak for themselves and you can really feel the emotions and joy pop out of the photo.

Take the last shot for example, that was my favorite moment of the day because they were dancing and having the time of their lives, and all I did was snap that moment. How beautiful!

Swipe for the full enjoyment of this kiss in the middle of downtown! I remember when K + R first inquired with me. We had a wonderful first conversation and I knew that we were going to get along.

We dreamed about a fun engagement photoshoot in Big Sur, which was stunning! And then we got to celebrate together a year later in Monterey at the beautiful venue downtown.

Congrats to you both, I’ve loved every part of this journey. Hats off to all the incredible vendors who make weddings in this area a top notch experience. 👏

This post is brought to you by “shutter drag”. It is a technique that photographers use to intentionally create motion blur and energy in your image.

It is a challenging photo to master because it requires the photographer to release the shutter and quickly move the camera in different directions while the photo is being taken.

However, when done right, it can create the coolest effects and a beautiful piece of art.

Couples, trust the process and try new things. It will be worth it!

One of the BEST ways to get beautiful wedding photos is to keep your focus on your partner!! A good photographer will encourage you to interact with each other so that you’re not worried about the camera.

Dream wedding tucked in the magical redwoods. This venue is beautiful and I wish I could live there hah. I had such an incredible time shooting for Cassandra and Sean celebrating their love! All of the details were super cute, from the flowers to the rentals. Everything was beautifully laid out. They even had SMORES for dessert surrounded by fire pits. How sweet!

Congrats you guys. And hats off to an amazing vendor team to making the day super smooth and wonderful!
