The air has certainly changed out there hasn't it! As the summer holidays enter their last week, my mind has turned to the new season of planning. First up is my signature Autumn wreaths, now available via the website for delivery from the 19th September. I've added a free delivery code for Sankey and Penketh addresses, just use GOODNEIGHBOUR5 at checkout.
My Autumn wreaths are made to dry and will last you through till you pop up your Christmas wreath. I actually find many customers bringing them inside through the winter months.
I had a great day yesterday, thank you to everyone who sent me good luck messages and came to see me on stage.

Join me as I chat and arrange for mindfulness. I'll be demonstrating two simple bowl arrangements in a symmetrical and asymmetrical style using a kenzan. I'll talk about getting out into nature and appreciating the natural forms of flowers and foliage that can channel creativity, help to calm the mind and to shape beautiful floral displays.

Carrying on the British Flowers Week theme... Would you believe me if I said this bucket was picked in October? This was part of the flowers for a beautiful wedding in 2022. The wedding couple specifically requested locally grown flowers and sustainable mechanics. The talented Photography duo wrote up a whole article on this late autumn festival themed wedding. It's British Flowers Week 2024! Welcome to a week celebrating the beauty of locally grown blooms. I'll be sharing weddings this week that have been specifically 100% locally grown, plus some fabulous local growers that have events over the coming days where you can indulge in some local flowery loveliness.
Beautiful bowls of perfection partnered with candles and bud vases made this room look and smell amazing. This was such a beautiful, elegant and personal wedding perfectly suited to the happy couple.
And here she is ready to see the happy couple down the aisle.
Every flower in this bouquet has been grown locally just down the road in Helsby, then with little sprinkles of some Penketh blooms in there. In fact this whole wedding is 100% locally grown, foam free and only using sustainable materials, which I think makes it more personal. The wedding couple were great at picking floral pieces that maximised their impact while keeping in budget. I might pop a little blog post together next week all about it.

I love this picture from a flower crown workshop a few weeks back. I'm talking workshops again today over for later this year. Would you believe the seasonal planning starts now! Two key dates are already booked in with, suppliers being contacted. More meetings set up for after the Easter holidays. I'm not just about the ultimate seasonal wreath though. As its a beautiful day again today I'm just giving a shout out for spring wreaths, available to order via the website and can collected as early as this Friday.
The wreaths are made on a moss base and planted with spring bulbs and flowers to give the best longevity. They can be composted after and the bulbs planted! I've also added these for collection for Mother's Day if you'd like something different from the standard bouquet.

I honestly win the lottery when I have couples come to me wanting to include their furry family members. Just look at how happy .super.nova is to be included in her family's special day, and also looking the part with that superb flower collar. Probably one of my favourite captures from last year by the very talented .
The simplest bowl of flowers just nestled in an area often overlooked, can make it the star of the show.

I've got all my little ranunculus and anemone alien corns in soaking ready to pot up later. I think I need a grow light so I'm not taking over the house and in turn saving my marriage... I can pop things in the garage on a timer rather than all the windowsills in the house. If anyone uses one and can recommend it would be appreciated.
Hello, I thought I'd say a little bit about me in my inaugural post of 2024.
Hi I'm Donna, the florist behind The Northern Flowerhouse, I'm now entering my 4th year as a studio event florist and I'm still here enjoying all the floral delights of the seasons. I'm based in Penketh, Warrington but cover most of the North West and into North Wales. I adore British Seasonal flowers, but to be fair, any flower has my heart. I'm now taking consultations for 2025 weddings so if you'd like to talk about your plans drop me a DM.
My first December wedding. Technically a post wedding celebration but the lovely bride has opted for another beautiful bouquet to celebrate, and why not! The snow/frost was a special order just for this photograph.
One of my favourites from this week's workshops so far. It's the smiles. It feels like two hours of craziness to me, but for others it is getting in the festive spirit, relaxation through creativity and self accomplishment over the finished article.
And we're off! First one of the season is in the bag. This is going to the fundraising raffle for the Penketh South Community Primary School. So if you fancy a chance of winning it, tickets can be purchased at the fair which is on the 1st December. Have a mooch round local artisan stalls, some seasonal fun and games for all the family and you can even grab a mulled wine. Also loving this year's little addition of those recycled mini cows bells, complete with the ti**le.

And here's those Autumn tones from yesterday's bouquet. It's hard to post my work sometimes, as I look at this and think... I should have tucked that amaranth in a little more, maybe loosen it out at the binding point to give more space etc etc... But what I do know is that once all is said and done, two people that love each other pledged to spend the rest of their lives together yesterday, and these flowers helped them on that journey. I may or may not have shed a tear as I quietly watched from the balcony. Thanks as always to the range of local suppliers that helped bring it all together.
