When charities/ employers/ services are offering something for neurodiverse people. They are saying their project is open to everyone (including neurotypicals). If a service is specifically created for those who are autistic/ADHD etc the correct language is neurodivergent. Lots of places still not getting it right yet.
Neurodiversity = everyone
Neurodivergent = everyone who is not neurotypical 💙

October is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Month. Here are some tips to communicate with someone who is an AAC user:

-- Be patient! It can take more time for an AAC user to communicate a message. Don’t interrupt and let them get their thoughts out.

-- Presume competence – someone using a device does NOT mean they are less intelligent or do not understand you.

-- If you have questions about a device, ask an AAC user or a trained speech-language pathologist -- increasing knowledge about AAC helps to dispel false information that can be harmful.
