I feel I have so many exciting projects, photoshoots and outfits in the works currently but all still require a fair bit of work to get them over the finish line and I just don’t have the available hours at the moment to focus on them. The result is I’m feeling not quite as creatively fulfilled as I’d like to be. Does anyone else get that?

In the meantime here is a sesational photo that master of photography took about a year ago. I have no idea why I never posted this gem so here we go!

In 2022 and ‘23 I’ve had the absolute privilege of working with QUT to host their ‘Celebrating Diversity’ Day, Welcome Week and Harmony Day entertainment programs! Given the state of affairs in the US currently it’s been really encouraging to see a top university here in Australia showing their support of the q***r community and arts. These events I’ve been involved with have been aimed at demonstrating an inclusive environment for people of any ethnicity, gender, sexuality and background. From musicians and comedians to dancers and QUT association representatives, these events have highlighted the remarkably talented diverse individuals we have here in Brisbane. Seeing such programs implemented into an educational space gives me SO MUCH hope for the future of Australia’s youth! Bravo and everyone involved with these events, keep up the good work 👏.

It’s really quite scary what’s happening in the US currently in regards to drag shows and the q***r community at large.

I’m sure most are aware but for those who aren’t up to date; Tennessee has passed a bill to ban drag shows in public spaces and at least 14 other states are following suit with a slew of anti-drag bills being introduced. The core reason behind these notions is allegedly to ´protect children’.

The first time Lulu LeMans and I publicly stepped out in drag in 2018 was to attend Brisbane’s all ages Pride Fair Day. One of the reasons why we were so compelled to continue on this journey following Pride was due to the sheer joy and excitement that our self expression created for children and young people. Furthermore, one of the most significant moments of my drag career to date has been being involved with the first ever Q***r and Here event in Brisbane (a school excursion aimed at providing young LGBTQIA+ students the opportunity to express themselves in a safe space and seek support in a fun and inclusive environment with drag shows and interactive Q&As). Having the opportunity to share my experiences and challenges with school aged youth through the art of drag felt genuinely impactful. If there is anything that we can do to help young q***r people feel less alienated and alone then surely it’s worth our time and effort?

Just like any form of entertainment, drag can be adult in nature and at times, best reserved for 18+ venues. This being said, we are self aware adults with the ability to censor ourselves if need be or adjust our shows for younger audiences, just as a musician, actor or comedian can.

It’s 2023 and it’s about time that our world leaders turn their attention to more pressing issues rather than wasting time trying to silence and oppress the LGBTQIA+ community.

If you are physically able, I urge you to get out there and support your drag events and especially our all ages events. It’s more important than ever to be loud supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community and show the world that we are a progressive country that accepts all.

This was my handover look/performance for 2022 to the next stunning Miss Sportsman Hotel; . Congratulations my love- I know how much you love and care for Sporties so I know you will have a wonderful year representing.

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the year that has been. was the first place I saw drag in person back in 2015. I was still unsure of my own identity back then and somewhat ashamed of my femininity. Seeing these gorgeous creatures celebrating their q***r expression unashamedly and proudly gave me a bit of a realisation that evening that there was a part of me (I now like to call Elle 😉) hiding just under the surface, Longing to be freed. To have the opportunity to be the face of this wonderful venue for the past year and work more with them, the queens and the staff that has been an absolute privilege. Some people may feel this is a lot of emotion to have about a pub but the fact is that Sporties is more than just bricks and mortar, for the past 33 years it has been a safe place for q***r people to come and be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. To be a part of the story of such a place is something I will always be very proud of.

The drag I have shared the past year would not be possible without the help of a lot of people. To my partner of 8 years and drag sister , I love you to the moon and back and thank God for the constant support and reassurance you give me. , at this point, the fact you are a wonderful seamstress is just a bonus- your friendship has gotten both Lulu and myself through some challenging and turbulent years and I love you so dearly for it. My best friend - you have always encouraged me to embrace the gay 😂, we’ve been following the rainbow together now 15 years now and I am so grateful to have you by my side. To my St Tropez family .de.gamba , you guys know how freaking important you are to me. Last but not least to my adopted drag mother , crazy auntie and all the other Gunn children- being apart of this legacy had been a blessing I do not for granted ✨.

When I was a wee thing my Mum dressed me up as a little Piggy for my school book parade so it only felt natural I should do a ´de Flower Pinup take’ on this for my Chinese zodiac runaway for Starlet. Honestly can’t believe I’m still posting looks from this comp 7 months on but goes to show how much creativity this comp can yield. If any up and coming Brissy queens are on the fence, I highly recommend putting your hat in the ring for next year’s season- you’ll be challenged but in the best possible way! ✨

Man what a wild few weeks it has been! Coming out of one of the busiest periods I’ve ever experienced in my adult life has reminded me that even though it’s very easy to get caught up in the chaos of life it is the relationships we form on this journey that really count. With that, I would like to shout out my friend and collaborator . I don’t have many photos of her on here because she’s very camera shy unless she’s had a few drinks 😂. I would not be the queen I am if it wasn’t for the unwavering support from this talented individual. Not only does she work on bringing the majority of my costume ideas to life, she is a shoulder to cry on when life is too much and an encouraging voice to tell you that you are enough and to keep doing you.
