Events for the 13th and 14th of August are going to need to be cancelled. We had 5 or so team commit to coming but far too many teams were firm on not being available that weekend. Apologies to the promotors and teams. The Renegade brand is about building cars for the local tracks and not about drawing cars from other areas, which is obvious with this situation. Please message for more info.

Wingless Sprints Return to North-Central Wisconsin with Creation of New Series

The Upper Midwest Sprint Series has a new offspring! Capitalizing on the amazing success of Ron Bernhagen’s popular UMSS Traditional Sprint program, the Chequamegon Renegades Sprint Series joins the UMSS family to bring affordable and sustainable wingless sprint car racing to the dirt tracks of north central Wisconsin. The class of full size sprint cars utilizes the rules of the UMSS and features 9 1/2 to one compression motors fed by a Holley 500 two barrel carburetor. Engines rules allow for a midwest mod or “b” mod power plants or the extremely successful 5.3 LS package. Motors are typically between 350-450 horsepower.

The addition of the Chequamegon Renegades Sprint Series will provide an affordable package for those wanting the thrill and excitement of racing a full sized sprint car while maintaining a budget much cheaper than most forms of motorsports. A typical CRSS car can be built for as little as $3000 with a very nice car being under $8000. The rules WILL NOT CHANGE, so building a car today guarantees a racer can compete for many years after building a car.

The raw simplicity of the car, weighing in at 1500 pounds, combined with a decent horsepower motor makes the traditional sprint the MOST economical way to GO FAST. If you have ever wanted to race a sprint car, or race any car, this class is for you.

We are fortunate to have Tomahawk Speedway serve as our home track and a 2020 schedule is currently under construction. The economy, speed, competition, and family atmosphere is a huge draw to the CRSS. Arrive and Drive, rental, and Driving School opportunities are currently being planned to help get interested drivers off the porch and into the driver’s seat. Please contact for a current list of available cars and opportunities! We look forward to seeing you at the races.
