We're thrilled to announce that Gerardine Wisdom, the talented artist from Terryglass, Co Tipperary will be showcasing her incredible creations at St Patrick's Village, The Square. Gerardine's mastery in crafting sculptures from rushes harvested from Lough Derg has earned her numerous awards, including prestigious first prizes in the RDS National Crafts Competitions. Join us at The Village, where you'll be enchanted by Gerardine's stunning sculptures dotted around the area. But that's not all! Gerardine will also be hosting a free drop-in workshop for all ages to get hands-on and craft their very own RAG (Rathdowney Arts Group) Dolls. Don't miss this unique opportunity to create something special to take home with you!

We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to The Irish Camping and Caravan Association of Ireland, who have selected the St. Patrick's Day Parade Rathdowney as their destination this year. They will be camped for the entire weekend at the Donaghmore Museum Centre. With over 70 members and their children joining us for all the family fun, Rathdowney is set to be a bustling hub of activity this weekend.

Excited to welcome everyone tomorrow for a fantastic day of free family fun! The festivities begin with face-painting starting at 10:30am, followed by balloon modelling from 11am and don't miss out on the butterfly street performers from 11-12pm. Live Music with a great line up & Workshops kick off at 11am with renowned artist Gerardine Wisdom facilitating a RAG DOLL workshop-Watch out for her amazing rushwork art in The Square. Plus, don't miss out on delicious treats from Michelle's Cakes and Bakes, alongside our free Tricolour Treats - Bun Icing workshop. Maria will also be available for those interested in box braids. Join us for a day filled with games, musical instruments to try, and free drop-in workshops suitable for all ages. And be sure to visit Conoboro Cards, Rathdowney Song & Poem Contest, Rathdowney’s Own, who will have have a spot there too. Please share.

We are honoured to announce the introduction of the Kieran O’ Sullivan Perpetual Trophy sponsored by Lenabh mo Chroí, in loving memory of Kieran, a beloved member of our community who sadly passed away less than a year ago.
Kieran was more than just a professional; he was a pillar of strength and compassion in our community. His impact on the lives of those around him extended far beyond his professional endeavours. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel safe and cared for, especially during their most vulnerable moments.
But Kieran was not only known for his professionalism; he also had an infectious sense of humour and an uplifting spirit. He had a unique talent for finding the humour in everyday situations, and his cheeky wit never failed to bring a smile to our faces. He approached life with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering positivity that brightened the days of everyone he encountered.
As we remember Kieran with great affection and a sense of loss, we are grateful for the opportunity to honour his legacy with the Kieran O Sullivan Perpetual Trophy. This stunning trophy serves as a tribute to his remarkable contributions to our community and his enduring spirit of kindness and compassion.

Excited to introduce our Grand Marshal for 2024 - "The Incredabilities"! 🎉 This newly formed playgroup is dedicated to celebrating the successes, rather than focusing on the challenges, of young people aged 3-15 with additional needs. These little superheroes come together every Saturday 3:30-5pm in the Youth Cafe at the Chlochar Centre, Rathdowney. Spearheaded by Chloe Martin, this group is providing a safe and joyful space for young people to have fun and offering invaluable support to parents. Join us in celebrating their inspiring spirit as they take on the role of Grand Marshal!
