((( OFRENDA ))) The ofrenda is a vital element of Día de los Mu***os, embodying respect, love, and remembrance for those who have passed away while celebrating life and cultural traditions. Each ofrenda is unique and contains essential components: marigolds, sugar skulls, candles, and food & drink. Creating an ofrenda involves the coming together of community and family members, fostering belonging and collective remembrance.

Margarita Sandoval & family will create the festival’s ofrendas for the 6th year 🙌🏾💀🏵️🕯️

((( Margarita Sandoval ))) My origins are rooted in colors, scents, flavors, and traditions. I identify as a monarch butterfly (Quetzalpapalotl), symbolizing transformation and adaptation. Flowers, especially cempasúchil, remind me of my childhood and the Aztec belief that butterflies carry the souls of fallen warriors. I’m grateful to share my culture with my community and teach my children to take pride in their roots.
