I'm super proud to be entering the Art in Bloom event this spring! I've done it before, but this will be my first time designing completely solo and representing my OWN business! Root me on, friends! And vote for my piece if you see it!

Members of my community's Buy Nothing group really pulled for me this week, so I custom made these thank you cards.
Story Time!
So, my spouse and I volunteer to lead hands-on cooking experiences for people with Down syndrome. Our plan for this past week was to make waffles, among other things, for "breakfast for dinner." On the morning of our session, we realized we no longer own a waffle maker! Whoops! I immediately posted my request to borrow a waffle maker for the day and by my lunch break, I was on a waffle maker pick up route! Three wonderful members offered and set out their waffle irons which gave our cooking class a very "America's test kitchen" vibe with all the various styles and shapes of waffles! Comment if you want to know my opinion of which features were best/worst in a waffle maker!

⌛Wanna get more time to enjoy your flowers?

This vaseful had big burgundy mums in it, but they started wilting and shedding so I got them outta there! 🥀I recut and rearranged the rest in fresh water and I'll get at least another week out of this arrangement! 💐

Embrace the vase! Bring your own container to your florist and they'll happily fill it for you! It's an eco friendly way to reuse an old favorite vessel and save a few bucks on your next flower order.

💠Delphinium is THE most beginner friendly flower for pressing, IMO.
Reasons:
💧⬇️It has a low amount of moisture, so it dries relatively quickly in a traditional cardboard+paper flower press (around a week, give or take).
📄🚫If you're unlikely to change the papers every couple days, these baby blues are pretty forgiving and will continue to dry rather than develop mold.
🔷🖼️They also hold the blue color really well and are thin enough for most crafting uses!

It's a whole vibe: Short and Sweet (just like me!). You don't need a huge spray of flowers to make a big impact; here is a short, draping, lush centerpiece in a small ceramic vase.

This is what it looks like when you live with a person who preserves flowers! Drying buds hang from every possible spot with all manner of clips and ties. ITKYK Where's the weirdest place you've intentionally put flowers to dry? Mine would probably be in the car...desperate times called for desperate measures! There's nothing quite like a flower drying emergency, lol

Drying flowers is a patient process, often taking weeks to be fully dry and ready for use in crafting. These bundles are destined for seasonal wreaths made by workshop participants.
The studio feels bare (for a short while) when I remove all the dried bundles. Soon, we will restock the drying wall in all her glory!

I'm proud and honored to have designed a floral piece shown at the MOWA BLOOM 2024 event! I chose this surreal painting by as my inspiration because I loved the colors and shapes, and because I wanted a challenge that would force me away from my tendency to be literal with my floral interpretations. I also appreciate and wanted to celebrate the marsh and all its bounty. I hope you can see the connections from my choices of flowers, textures, and colors, to those in the painting.

This display would not have been complete without the custom pottery vessel made by ceramicist, Jaime Green, . She absolutely nailed the concept, colors and overall vibe I was hoping to achieve and sent this whole project up to the next level! Thank you, my friend!
