💐 My co-author? Linda Laake

Linda is the owner of Linda Laake Designs, and she has been one of my best friends since high school. We started our business ownership journey together nearly 10 years ago, an unplanned coincidence that has proven to be a gift.

We’ve supported each other in moments of doubt. We’ve celebrated all the wins, big, medium, and small. We give each other feedback. We help each other set up and tear down at workshops and expos. And we serve as each other’s hype squad. 📣

Linda has designed floral arrangements for every major event of my adult life, including birthday extravaganzas, my dad’s funeral, and expo booths for Lumin Living, LLC. Her designs transform any space into another world. (For real, I’ve seen her transform a generic Knights of Columbus bingo hall into a sophisticated reception venue.) See the photos for some of her magnificent creations.

We both specialize in transformative experiences, Linda with flowers and spaces and me with discernment leadership. Sharing this journey with her is one of the highlights of business ownership. We help each other write our leadership legacies.

Peony season is short, but oh-so-sweet! If you want the most stunning peonies at your event, set the date in June! We can usually get peonies beyond June, but the variety, quality, and price will be less than ideal.

Very few flowers are edible and even fewer are free from chemicals.

When using real flowers to adorn a cake, it's always a good idea to wipe down any part of the flower that could touch the food, if possible. Then wrap the stems in cling wrap (or similar that is food-safe) to prevent any contamination into the cake.
🎂
It's very difficult to know what kind of journey a flower has been on before it gets into our hands, so being cautious is always a good idea.

Even if grown organically, critters and natural fertilizer can leave behind traces of things humans should not ingest.
