Testimony Monday!

One of my couples gave me a tip! A nice one at that! They waited until like a few days before the wedding! They asked me to meet and I was like Lord are they going to fire me before the wedding day!

They said they wanted to bless me because I had went above and beyond their expectations! They talked about how they doubted me initially because my price was so low compared to others they had inquired about and felt I wouldn’t know what to do! They then said they didn’t have to second guess anything after our initial consultation! The husband said there were times I would hear my then fiancé on the phone with you early in the morning or late at night and would always hang up saying Gwen gonna handle it! They said they felt it was truly deserving and that they both felt it needed to be done!

I said that to say my first couple of years I was trying to get my pricing right and work through trial and error! Even in my not charging much God worked it out to bless me for all that I put in! I’m thankful for that couple because they helped me realize my potential and also confirm that if you will take care of your people your people will take care of you! So no matter what the task is if you agree to do it do it with love and do it to the best of your ability!

This is a difference between your wedding planner and your wedding day of coordinator!

Your wedding planner will assist you with planning your wedding, getting the right vendors for your event, communication with the vendors to ensure that everything that you want for your wedding is done and ready for your big day! Your wedding planner will have your I’s dotted and your T’s crossed and make sure you are not stressing about things going as planned!

Your Day of Coordinator will coordinate your wedding day! They will coordinate rehearsal, they will make sure that the day of your wedding things run and flow smoothly and make sure that your wedding starts on time and reception runs smoothly! Your day of coordinator is not responsible for your decorator, DJ, caterer or photographer not meeting the expectations that you requested when planning because your day of coordinator is not involved with the planning of your wedding. Every now and then you will get a day of coordinator that may go the extra mile with you! Be sure to be nice to them because they are performing a service that you didn’t pay them for!

Side note! I read on a website that this venue charges $1500 for the Day of Coordinator and their main job is to show you where to stand that day! So yeah! Be nice to your day of coordinator because they do a lot more than tell you where to stand a most does it for way less than this amount!

Please ensure that you weigh the options when making the decision on which you will be needing!

There has been a lot of talk centered around the couple with the $500 dollar wedding! I applaud them for being able to have a beautiful wedding with the budget that they set!

While that worked for them because that’s what they wanted that’s not to say that is what works for everyone else! Some people wish to keep it inexpensive and simple! Some people wish to go all out! Some people wish to have a private ceremony with only parents! Some people wish to elope! There are so many different ways to do it! Pick one!

The only right choice to make is the one the bride and groom agrees to! That’s it! If they sit down and agree to a $500 wedding or a $500,000 wedding the choice is theirs to make!

Flawless Event Planning Wednesday Tips!

Guest List & Wedding Planners!

When sending out invites make sure you both sit down and discuss exactly what you are expecting!

1. Do a 1st draft, 2nd draft and 3rd draft!

2. Think about the type of reception you want! If need be make a separate wedding list and reception list. Ok let me explain lol……… if you want a as the young folks say Turnt wedding reception then invite your friends and family that’s going to be turnt with you!

3. Parents don’t y’all kill ma but this is not your parents wedding! You can’t invite all your parents friends just because your parents want them to see their baby getting married because 9/10 they gonna just look and not move after all they are your parents friends not yours.

4. Invite those who are genuinely happy for you and will BRING GIFTS…… you have spend all this money and done all this planning and some show up empty handed! Aht aht put those expectations out there even though you would think they already know that!

5. Remember we are still in a pandemic and just because we know 500 people does not mean 500 will make the cut!

6. When sending out invites require an RSVP deadline and stick to it. Those who truly plan on coming will meet the deadline!

7. Last but not least invite those that matter to you! Those that want to celebrate you! Those that will smile and enjoy the day and not just show up as a spectator or as a gossip columnist that want to go back and report every move!

Wedding Planning is stressful! There are a lot of little things that seem unimportant that are very important and sometimes can get forgotten! No bride should have the stress of planning a wedding and preparing for a wedding! Some have done it with ease and I applaud them but it’s not as easy as it seems!

Bottom line don’t let family and friends talk you out of hiring a planner because they said they will help and when it’s time for stuff to get done you are all alone and pulling your hair out!

When picking your wedding party, know your people! No really know them. No really really know them!

Pick them based on what you know about them! If you want a wedding party who is dependable then pick your friends you can depend on! No matter how much you love them if you know that they are known to back out, not follow through etc please just let them be a guest!

Pick those who will understand the day is about the Bride and Groom!

Pick those who knows there will be responsibilities and duties outside of just showing up looking good on the day of the wedding!

Pick those who although may have their own likes but they also understand that the wedding decisions are not about what they like!

Lastly pick those who are truly happy for you!
