Although we have been touting the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse coming in 2024, we don’t want you to miss other celestial events, such as the Total Lunar Eclipse happening over Lampsasas on May 15, 2022. While a Solar Eclipse happens when the moon gets between the sun and the earth, a Lunar Eclipse occurs when the earth gets between the sun and the moon. Unlike the solar eclipse, the lunar eclipse can be watched without special eyewear, providing the sky is clear. The “blood moon” will not be completely invisible, but will appear to turn red. Beginning at 8:32 pm CDT, the earth’s shadow begins to cover the moon. Totality will be at 10:29 pm and will last for almost one and a half hours. So get out your telescope or binoculars, and get ready to be amazed!
