Today, on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day, AdvocacyCon stands in unwavering solidarity with Indigenous communities. We honor the lives lost, support the families seeking justice, and amplify the voices demanding systemic change.
The Crisis in Numbers:
-Over 4,300 active FBI cases involve missing or murdered Indigenous individuals.
-More than 84% of Indigenous women have experienced violence in their lifetime.
-Murder is the third leading cause of death for Indigenous women aged 10 to 24.
These statistics are not just numbers—they represent mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends whose lives have been tragically cut short or remain shrouded in uncertainty.
-Many cases remain underreported due to jurisdictional complexities and inadequate data collection.
-A significant number of these cases involve non-Native perpetrators on Native land, highlighting gaps in legal accountability.
Join the Movement:
-Wear red today to honor the missing and murdered.
-Use hashtags like , , and to raise awareness.
-Engage with and support organizations dedicated to this cause.
Together, we can shine a light on this crisis and work towards a future where Indigenous lives are protected, valued, and celebrated.
