有几场亏了钱，
有几场赚了小钱，
我都把这些钱拿去买“设备”。

如果要赚钱，
才不会搞这些市集，

From high entertainment taxes to religious conservatism, it is hardly surprising that international concerts and tours skip Malaysia and opt for our neighbours.

But do we really have what it takes to be a regional concert capital? And what do we stand to gain if we achieve the international standards that will give Malaysia the coveted status of popular concert destination?

For “live” music industry practitioners, the answer is yes. And as to the benefits? Well, for starters (and the most obvious), a whole lot of money.

“The Malaysian ‘live’ music industry is worth way more than a billion ringgit and can bring in a revenue of six to eight times more than expected when big concerts are held,” said international entertainment agency RK Live director Rahul Kukreja.

Local concert organiser and event promoter Adam Ashraf of Hello Universe estimates that the local “live” concert industry has the potential to rake in at least RM50 million in annual revenue.

“If we bring in around eight to 10 A-list artistes from around the world to perform at a venue with around 50,000 to 60,000 capacity per concert a year, RM100 million in revenue is achievable. Or to be safe, I would say at least getting over RM50 million in revenue is within sight.”

He said based on the survey from their last concert, many international concertgoers opt to come to Malaysia for concerts because of our currency, food and hospitality. And this translates into tourism revenue.

Konsert Sudirman Di Chow Kit Kuala Lumpur | April 1986.
Sekiranya anda ada melihat gambar seumpama ini di mana-mana. Ianya adalah rakaman rakan sekerja saya jurufoto Jabatan Penerangan. Masa ni saya masih di sekolah rendah.
Tujuan saya share gambar lama ini ialah mengajak kita merakam apa sahaja di sekeliling kita. Mungkin akan menjadi kenangan untuk anak cucu kita satu hari nanti. Lupakan tentang perfection.
Asal jadi gambar. Asal orang nampak jadi orang, jalan raya nampak macam jalan raya. Ok sangat dah.
Yang penting memori yang dirakam. Bagi yang pernah menghadiri konsert ini pastinya gambar-gambar ini meninggalkan kesan pada mereka. Mungkin di sini berputiknya sebuah percintaan, mungkin juga datang dengan kekasih hati. Dari seluruh Malaysia mereka datang bukan hanya sekitar lembah klang.
Bila melihat gambar-gambar lama ni, semangat saya untuk merakam apa sahaja semakin menyubur. Selain gambar keperluan majikan, gambar santai-santai, saya akan lupakan seketika tentang segala disiplin Photography, just shoot apa sahaja from my heart.
Terdetik rasa nak rakam, saya rakam. Tak dapat dengan DSLR atau Mirrorless dengan smartphone pun ok.
Selain tu nak promote juga, perpustakaan foto Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia menyimpan cukup banyak khazanah negara dalam bentuk visual cuma tidak ramai orang memanfaatkannya.
Maksud saya untuk tujuan penerbitan, research dan sebagainya. Ada bukan takde langsung. Dulu konsert macam ni pun kami rakam, bukan gambar pemimpin negara sahaja. Kami merakam khazanah visual negara.
Terima kasih kepada Jurufoto semua, sesiapa sahaja yg merakam gambar apa sahaja yang dikongsikan di sosial media ini. Mungkin tidak memberi sebarang makna pada kita tetapi memberi makna pada orang lain.
Saya pernah share gambar bus Stand Klang yg lama. Ada orang PM saya, ucap terima kasih sebab mengembalikan kenangannya di situ.
